Sound quality, Surround mode and Input switching are great

I come from Sennheiser HD 458, which has excellent sound quality and great noise cancellation. The Steel Series sound is great as well, the surround is very good for gaming, also the mic quality but the best part is the input switching function. Apart from having the option to switch between 2 devices on the Wireless mode, you use another one by connecting it to the input port and a second one through Bluetooth, in the resume you can hear 3 devices at the same time it’s crazy but you can.A couple of cons are, that the noise cancellation can be improved, even when using the ANC option, you will hear some outside noise that, compared with Sennheiser, can be annoying. On the other hand, the wireless connection range is good but if you move like 5 meters and there are walls in the way you will lose your connection, if there isn’t any wall you could be even farther (up to 10 meters) and still have a stable sound.

Great gaming headset with a caveat

This is a great gaming headset for PC.The positive:Great sound – Out of the box the sound is great. Also, the Sonar software lets you really customize equalization using a parametric EQ (even with Q values!). Further, SteelSeries works with game producers to come up with ideal presets for the most popular (and some kind of obscure) games that I have found to be good. You can also duplicate the presets in Sonar and tweak the EQ as you like. Really great sound customization capabilities for something designed for gaming. Though please note this functionality is absent for console.Great fit – The headset can be worn for extended periods without feeling discomfort whatsoever (see only exception regarding Ear Pads below). Can likely fit any adult-sized head comfortably without squeezing your head. Comfortable.Great Wireless – I haven’t had the signal drop out on me yet and have worn it between floors in my house. I also have a wireless mouse with its own dongle and it didn’t affect the wifi capability of this headset.Bluetooth plus Wifi capability – You can take calls from your phone while playing your favorite game or watching a youtube video. Also, there is no lag when used with the 2.4GHz control station/dongle.Excellent power – Spare battery included. Just swap from one to the other where one charges in the dongle while the other is in the headset. You never run out of juice.Great software – SteelSeries GG includes Sonar and is easy to use and setup.OK Noise Cancelation – It cancels mostly fan-type noises but with and without the replacement earpads though I can carry on a conversation with someone in the same room with the noise cancelation set to max. I also have Bose noise cancelation as a baseline comparison. The Bose noise cancelation is way better. SteelSeries could work to improve this. The negative:Ear pads are too thin for many people – SteelSeries should partner directly with Wicked Cushions because that nub in the middle of each speaker that everyone talks about becomes irritating and even painful. I got the Wicked Cushion cool gel replacements for the ear pads; problem solved because they are just thick(er) enough than the stock cushions you don’t feel the nub persistently touching your ear. I literally had a red circle on the antihelix of my right ear (see Ear Anatomy on Google) after 30 minutes of wearing this headset prior to replacing the ear pads. The stock ear pads themselves are high quality but need to be just mm’s thicker to avoid the nub (see Wicked Cushion replacements).Looks – I thought it wouldn’t be this way but I likely would never wear this headset outside the PC as it make you look like a straight-up pilot that belongs in the helicopter even with the mic retracted. It’s just how they’re shaped. They don’t appear this way when they’re not on your head but I wouldn’t wear these outside the house like I would my Bose headset. You are not going to look cool or fashionable with this headset. If you don’t care at all about looks, they are extremely functional outside the PC.Overall, I like this headset. I think it sounds amazing and can be used for hours at a time. You won’t have to miss a call while gaming because you can run wifi and bluetooth simultaneously. Please note – I did have to invest an additional $30 for the Wicked Cushions otherwise I wouldn’t be able to wear this headset for more than an hour at a time which is less than acceptable for a headset of this price.I’d still recommend the headset while noting the aforementioned criticisms.

Top of the line for any serious gamer!!!!

I got nothing negative to say about these. They are top notch I hear every single thing needed in any fps game all footsteps all sounds pinpoint accuracy, and the extra battery to swap out is unparalleled to any other setup only downside I see is the price but then again you get what you pay for highly recommended!!!!!

i bought it for the battery

the only thing i dont like is the material used for the pads, seems a little cheap and that will wearout soon, coming from the a50s that the only disadvantage i see, but having the avility to switch baterrys and never run out of is one of the best things when it comes to gaming.

the best headset ive ever had.

this headset is worth every single dollar and is probably the best headset ive ever used in my life. the sound is AMAZING and i love that it comes with an amplifier so you can adjust your mic, sound, etc. it makes me sound good when i game, and it is SUPER comfortable to wear for a long time. i have so many piercings around my ear and i’ve never had a headphone that didn’t hurt my ears after awhile. 20/10 beyond speechless.

Great headsets and Honest review with some Issues.

I absolutely love this headset! The audio quality is fantastic, and it outperformed the ASUS ROG Delta S Wireless Gaming Headset I previously tried and returned. Here are my pros and cons for this headset.Pros:The audio quality is fantasticThe Infinity Power System is amazingMulti-System Connect works flawlesslyDual Audio Streams work greatThe dock that comes with the headset is awesomeThe microphone works really wellThis headset isn’t too tight around my head, and the weight is just right. However, my girlfriend, who has a smaller head, felt that it wasn’t tight enough.Bluetooth works well, and I can use it to play audio from my computer and phone simultaneously.Semi-Pro/Cons: You’re going to want to read this.- ANC nub: I had a problem with this for about a month. I tried all kinds of earcups.* Wicked Cushion Upgraded Replacement Earpads: Returned* Wicked Cushion Freeze Nova Pro Wireless – Hybrid Fabric Cooling Gel Replacement Earpads: Kept* Brainwavz Gel Gaming Replacement Earpads: Kept* Upgraded Replacement Earpads Cushions for HyperX Cloud/Alpha (Mesh Fabric): Kept***** READ***** Alright, to the critical part of this review. I ordered the wicked cushion pads for these headphones, and I’m not going to lie. Unfortunately, they didn’t fix the nub issue in the middle of the headphone (both versions). It still protruded and bothered my ears after wearing my headphones for extended amounts of time. Moving the earcups around on my head to readjust them is when it was noticeable. So I decided to ditch those and purchased the adapter from Etsy (seller: 3DHustlers) (version: felted ANC). This allowed me to put on any earcups I wanted, and I went with the Upgraded Replacement Earpads Cushions. I have no trouble with these and don’t notice any huge differences in sound/ANC quality. I recommend buying the adapter because it gives a bit of a „lift“ to the earcups and allows earcups to be above the ANC nub.***** Arctis Nova Pro Wireless Earpads Adapter for aftermarket ear pads – Steelseries – 3d Printed and Felted for Sound (ANC) (ETSY)- ANC works for fan noise from your PC or other noises similar to this. It doens’t work very well for voices.- The dock gives you the option to change the headphones from Range to Speed. This is really nice, but the Speed option is ***very short on range.Cons:The software is missing a crucial feature: syncing settings across devices. SteelSeries removed this feature, which is inconvenient if I want to move my EQ settings from one PC to another or reset my PC for some reason. The Sonar isn’t great for anything except games. However, you can find a piece of software called (Belphemur/SoundSwitch) on GitHub, which allows you to switch between the different audio devices that this headphone makes.Multiple Audio Devices: This headset has four different audio devices that you can switch between using the SteelSeries software, which is a bit of a pain whenever you want to listen to music or play games. The software I mentioned above comes in handy in this situation.Overall, I highly recommend this headset despite its issues. It has exceptional audio quality, and the Infinity Power System is a game-changer. The earpad adapter is a must-have if you’re bothered by the ANC nub. The software is missing some features, but it’s still usable.I couldn’t find any pictures of the ANC nub sticking out, but these photos are with the adapter on. It’s only slightly noticeable compared to the Wicked Cushions or the default earpad which protrude through the middle.

    Great

Great headset. Even better software app , might be the best i’ve ever came across , anything and everything can be adjusted to just the way you like it, I use it for gaming and music for my pc , you can change the preset to almost any FPS game out there and the headset will be perfect for it. As for music, you can change anything from bass to idk what else i’m not an audiophile, but definitely the best gaming headset i’ve ever had and it’s not even close.

    Initial Impression

I bought the same model 3. 5 years ago. It was an excellent headset for ps and pc.In comparison this one:Easy setup, controls are nice, adapter makes things very convenient between pc and ps, good sound quality. I can hear a better surround sound effect on the newer ones.Noise cancelling: it’s better and is solid for its use case, but isn’t blocking much of the extra noisy traffic.Comfort: actually pretty comfortable, impressed. Better than older version.Sound: definitely capable of a loud output which was a concern I had with my old one. Clear sound. However only uses usb instead of optical which I’m on the fence about. We’ll see how it plays out. Overall it sounds snappier maybe a little less on quality of older version. Hard to tell so far.Design: Sleek, nice feel. Although, a lot more plastic in this version which worries me. I bought my old headset for the metal in it since in my experience headsets break.. on the plastic portions. Old one broke on the only plastic part between ear muff and brace after 3.5 yrs.Overall I’d say 4.5 so far because of plastic and potentially sound quality. I rated it a 5 on Amazon since you can’t do 4.5 and it’s definitely not a 4.Extremely happy with old headset which is why I got the newer one when it broke. Hopefully this one lasts at least 3 years, too.Recommendation for manufacturer is more metal less plastic. I would pay more for all metal connector parts since they last!! Nothing is worse than having to duck tape an ear muff. Especially, for a headset at this cost.

Just what is was looking for!

I was looking for some headphones to use with Xbox series x. First I tried a couple of random headphones my son had over the years. The. I bought brand new Microsoft Xbox headphones. All of these had pretty terrible, canned sound quality. Then I splurged and got these, and my needs were met..Overall sound quality is good, and spatial sound quality is very good. The noise cancelling works, but it is not a dramatic as putting on a good pair of Bose noise cancelling headphones. Perhaps these are designed to turn out all sound more than background sound and so feel different… In any case, they seem effective at blocking the outside world when gaming, although I have not used in very noisy conditions. They are pretty comfortable, although I find the ear pads just a little bit small for my ears, which are average in size. They are not as comfortable as a set of Bose, but still good. They are lightweight and can be worn comfortably for an extended period of time. At some point after a couple hours they just feel hot on my head and I need a break tho.The flexible, retractable mic set up and on ear volume adjustments are great. The mic is very sensitive, perhaps too much so… it’s not necessary for teammates to hear every breath. Would like to be able to adjust sensitivity. The hot swap battery setup works. While my big hands fumble a bit with removing the plate, popping out the battery, removing new one from charger etc… I do appreciate the quick, full, immediate charge. While I’d prefer to be paying $200-$250 for these (versus current price of $300 on sale), I would absolutely recommend buying these over any of the various other headphones I tried at $100 or less.

good for gaming but no Optical output?

The media could not be loaded.

I upgrade from Arctis pro wireless. I was 120% satisfied with my Arctis Pro Wireless headsets, because when u turn off ur headphone, the audio will automaticly play on the speaker as long as u connect ur speaker w/ the dac, BTW I was connect them through optical cable, so I never got the interference from my other wireless keyboard or mice. I have to upgrade because my headphone will randomly lost its connection to Dac, which is annoying.I was so happy to see the audio quality upgrade on this head phone and how it’s perfectly fit the Sonar system. The only thing pisses me off is they cut the optical output off. Now I have to use 3.5mm cable to connect my DAC and my speakers, which means there will be a STRONG INTERFERENCE and u can hear the noise all the time, I have to turn down the speaker to ignore those noise. This ruined my experience when I watching movies.

    Recently Got, No complaints yet

I recently purchased this headset after doing a lot of research on a headset. I had previously been using turtlebeach stealth 700 max and they constantly were disconnecting, the programmable buttons were not working and I could not hear people or adjust volume despite updating the headset or resetting it every chance I got. So far this headset has given me no problems, is pretty comfortable compared to the turtle beaches, and has decent sound quality for a headset. All of the reviews knocking the audio are people expecting them to be as good as 700 buck bose headphones…. Like its for gaming, not exclusively listening to music…. overall though, I cant complain. I will update this with any issues that happen, though it already had been a much better experience. Additionally, the construction does not feel cheap like other people have said… it wont survive a nuclear war but we are gaming, not fighting in wwiii 😉

    Boyfriend loves it

My boyfriend caught it on sale and grabbed it. So far he has been extremely happy with it though he will never write a review for it.I got to try it on today and test it on my pc and I have to say the sound quality is great. Only issues I personally have is the head band was a little bit big, but not the areas for the ears. The ear cuffs felt almost small. I tried to adjust but hit the max of adjusting the head band part and still needed a bit more. It’s a tiny bit heavier that other well know headsets I have used (astro, corsair, logitech). I personally don’t like the feel of it. I wanted to see if it was worth it to me to buy. I decided on waiting and to do more research. I’m not picky so much over sound since most Bluetooth will never sound as amazing as wired but I prefer larger ear cuffs and light weight for long time periods on a pc.My boyfriend hasn’t had any problems and he praises it so I am rating the review for him. He doesn’t wear the headset as long as I wear mine on most days. Since he is at work. So again just point for some to think about. Might not be an issue for most but might for some.It looks well made quality wise and it’s easy to hook up and use.

    Best headset ive ever owned

As a console gamer it’s simply all I ever wanted.-Absurdly long battery life with the built-in ability to immediately swap to another fully charged battery at a whim, which even if it didn’t have would be fine because you can get a few hours of life out of a 20 minute charge.-Multi-console gaming if you get Xbox version which in my estimation should be the definitive sku for anyone dropping this much scratch due to it’s ability to use with the PS5 in the ‚universal‘ USB-C port, and the proprietary Xbox USB-C port-Simultaneous 2.4ghz AND Bluetooth capability so you can use your phone or laptop, etc. while sitting in lobbies, or loading screens without taking off the headset. The ability to talk to friends, hear game audio, and play a podcast from my phone feels like a momentous QoL feature, especially if you’re just trying to drown out the voices. Speaking of which-Active Noise Cancellation that doesn’t quite beat out my Sony WH1000-XM4’s, but truly the fact that it’s not far off is insane especially for a gaming headset. It almost obliterates the hum of the AC unit I’m stationed 5 feet from. The (pretty good for not being a dedicated professional grade) microphone doesn’t seem to pick it up either. Idk if the „AI“ voice filtering marketing buzzword nonsense is supported when the headsets connected to a console as opposed to a PC where it’s definitely supported, but I’m very happy with the quality of the output regardless of that.-its fairly comfortable over the course of hours. Not going to say you’ll completely forget it’s there but the build quality feels as expensive as it is and it’s never driven me to Lovecraftian style insanity over the course of a session by pushing my glasses onto my temple until the pressure is so immense that you would need to dive to the depths of challenger deep to truly sympathizeThat’s really all there is to it. It’s simply the best or close to the best in class in every facet it offers. Highly recommend to anyone who’s looking for a truly quality headset if you’re looking for anything outside the space of the mid tier offerings that tend to hover around the $50 – $100 range. If you have the means, this should be the headset no question.Edit*Took the review down a star. Everything I said still stands, but the base station is the wonky to turn on sometimes. Annoying, but there’s literally no better alternative on the market so I’m in contact with steel series to get it replaced

Microphone died after 1 month, Arctis won’t warranty and Amazon required a $70 restock fee.

Pros:+ Decent sound quality (Not on part actual high end over ear headphones but for a gaming headset it’s on the higher end of the scale for sure.+ Outer band is made of metal and seems durable while having a comfortable inner band.+ Removable battery is a nice touch. It comes with 2 which is even better and the price for more is pretty cheap.+ You can use Bluetooth and the wireless DAC at the same time. It’s great taking a phone call while using your computer as you get audio from both but the person on the call doesn’t have to hear your computer.+ Bluetooth can be turned off while DAC is still on to preserve battery life.+ Game Chat vs Voice Chat Mixer can be adjusted via DAC or Headset Knob.+ Mic can be muted using headset button.+ Volume can be controlled via DAC or Headset knob.+ ANC (Noise Cancellation) can be adjusted via Knob+ Ear cups are very soft.Cons:- Arctis advertised warranty is not usable. You can only register order on the Arctis site that we’re ordered on that site and can’t place a support request without a tracked Arctis order.- Poor quality mic stopped working after 1 month.- Ability to control chat mix randomly stops working and the only way to fix it is to open the Steelseries software, go to settings, go to sonar, turn sonar off (takes 5-10 seconds to process), turn sonar back on. This really sucks when you’re in game and have to tell everyone to wait while you fix your suddenly non working software chat mix (this wasn’t an issue on the old Arctis 7 models with analog mix).- Sonars Audio Mixing is laughably bad, like do not use it bad… except after every update it seems to turn itself back on.- The earcups while very soft are made of fake leather that doesn’t breathe and get very warm after around 15 minutes. (This also wasn’t an issue with the old mesh cup design from the 7 series). I personally replaced mine with a 3rd party cup.- The sonar software randomly drops the audio devices from the DAC. This is also resolved by turning Sonar on and off.- The hinge/swivel portion of the band where the earcups attach is plastic, this will likely degrade and fail over time. It does not feel as durable as the rest of the headset.- The battery while swappable is very poor. It lasts 1-2 days at best. Not a huge deal (especially since there’s a swappable battery.) but it is poorer performance compared to previous cheaper Arctis headsets.- The software requires updates constantly. When I bought the headset <2 months ago it was on release 31.0 and is now on 36. This would normally be a good thing but there are two problems. First it fails to update every time, instead you've to often manually download the new version only to find out it's just updates to "Moments" (Arctis auto screen cap software that's bundled for,.. some reason?) rather than actually improving the very broken and otherwise mediocre headphone software (Sonar.)The biggest problem:The inner mic stopped working after 1 month. Unfortunately as it took a month for it to die I was no outside the return period. After trying to fix it by uninstalling software, removing devices and reinstalling them from device manager, messing with audio settings in the control panel, messing with Arctis GG/Sonar, and messing with Discord Voice Filter Krisp, and even testing on other systems it was not resolvable. It's very clearly a hardware defect.I tried to resolve via warranty as the headset comes with a 1 year warranty however Arctis only lets you create support tickets for items ordered on the Arctis site as you have to create a ticket by selecting an Arctis order. Their is no other apparent way to talk to an Arctis Rep. Amazon after being told this (and after the Amazon chat rep agreed the issue exists) refused to refund without a $70 restocking fee For $70 I got 1 month usage of a $350 product and neither the seller/manufacturer or the distributor will make me whole.I loved Arctis previous to this. I had my Arctis 7 for years with zero issues. That's why I choose to buy another Arctis set, and even got a higher tier model. However I am heavily regretting that choice. When Arctis is the seller on Amazon, and when they're selling you a $350 product it is completely unacceptable that they don't provide any form of support for that product.I wish I could have resolved this outside a review, but sadly the OEM, Seller, and Distributor did not provide a reasonable option.

    Best Wireless Headset

I’ve been wanting to purchase the Steelseries Arctis Nova Wireless Pro headset for a very long time, but could never justify spending the $350 for something I didn’t strictly need because my current headset was working fine. However, after months and months and months of debating, I finally went ahead and bought it.I don’t regret it at all.Yes, $350 is a lot of money and definitely more than I would just throw at a luxury good. However, I am very happy with my purchase. Where should I start?1) Sound quality is amazing. I’m not an audiophile by any means, but music is clear and the bass is deep. Game audio is superb and it sounds just like my wired headsets. No issues at all here.2) Microphone quality is very good, too. I’ve got not complaints from anyone.3) Comfort is not perfect but more than good enough. They’re a little tighter than my Arctis 7, but I only run into some very mild discomfort after eight hours of continuous use. Since I use these as my office headset, comfort is very important to me.4) The swappable battery was the main selling point for me. I use this headset for work, and I often times forget to charge them. Since there’s a swappable battery, I’m never in danger of running out of juice. If I’m low, then I switch to the other battery (that’s charging in the hub) and I’m good to go.5) Since I work from home, I needed some way to swap between my work laptop and my home desktop. Previously, I was using a USB switch, which is fine but clunky. The integrated hub makes this so easy. It allows for two wired inputs: PC-PC/PS5 or PC-Xbox, depending on the version. Do note that if you’re connecting two PCs, you cannot use the PC-Xbox, as the Xbox port will not work correctly.6) Perhaps the only downside is the Noise Cancellation feature. It works, but doesn’t work as well as a dedicated Noise Cancellation device. Since this was not a critical feature for me, I don’t mind, but please be aware that it’s not the strongest part of the headset. All in all, if you have $350, and you’re looking for an amazing wireless headset with swappable batteries and multiple inputs, the Nova Pro Wireless is what you’re looking for. I highly recommend and I don’t regret my purchase at all.

Great headset, but i had to upgrade the ear cups

the functionality of these headphones are 5 stars, but i had to take away one star for the comfort of the ear cups, after upgrading them they feel like a true 5 star headset

These are mid level headphones, with a silver level sound

Bought these thinking top of the line, let’s f****** game! And….i was amused, but is the price tag worth it?The big question, should I or shouldn’t I? In this economy we have all found ourselves bargain shopping over one thing or an other. For some it is Porsches, for others it is these wireless headphones. For once I found my self on the latter of the situation, so in true Parks and Req fashion I decided to TREAT YO SELF! Self being me, and buying these headphones.Out of the box, they check the boxes….Comfy-Great long term ear comfort-Complete over the ear experience, even for me, a wrestler with a vegetable appetizer for an ear (califlaugher) loser.Anyway, these are comfy, fit well and block out white noise to about 75%. A legit “couldn’t hear you” gaming headset. 10/8 this thing is batting 1000% I’m so focused she finally picked a place for dinner! I know, I was a skeptic too, spend the money and enjoy life at volume 7, you don’t know what you’re missing! Hate from Wyoming, Big Daddy 307

Amazing quality, battery, sound, options, but gives me some pain

As others have said, its an amazing headset. I’ll end that there, nuff said. The thing I did run into was that it pinches on my jaw bones, like near my ears. I play LONG hours, so its more of a me thing, but I definitely had persistent pain that lasted a day or 2. I’ve tried stretching them, which seems to have helped a bit, but shifted the way it sits on my head / ears a bit.

My favourite headset – after some minor tweaks.

Let me start by saying I LOVE this headset – but it took a little work to get there.I swapped the ear cushions, the headband, and the outer earplates with some from Wicked Cushions and they are much more comfortable than the standard cushions, which is a bit of a shame to have to do for this price point. The sound quality is also very good – but only after some slight tweaking in SteelSeries‘ Sonar program, which is in their main program. I do like being able to categorise different apps as voice/games, and the option to change volume OR the game/voice balance on the fly is very nice, and easy to use from either the station that also charges the battery. The thing I love the MOST about this is the battery system, though. They give you an extra battery so you can charge one while using the other. I’ve never had a dead headset thanks to this AMAZING system. The battery itself last maybe 2-3 days before I need to swap, and the other is popped into the little station they give you to charge, and it charges quickly. SUPER easy to swap the battery in the headset on the fly, too, and it comes back on if you change the battery quickly enough (~10 seconds from what I’ve experienced). It will turn off for a moment or two, but will come right back up. I guess my only true complaint on this front is that I wish the headset itself had maybe a small internal battery to act as a buffer and keep you connected, but this headset if my favourite headset I have ever owned.

Overall great headphones. A few QOL issues make these 4 instead of 5, especially given the price.

Overall the headphones are great; sound quality, battery life, comfort (other than earpads being too small).I would have liked to give these a 5, but a few issues make it a 4 in my opinion. The first issue is that the earcup pads are too small and let the speaker stab my ear, this can be solved with a 20-30 dollar purchase of aftermarket pads. But for this price of nearly 300 dollars that is unacceptable. The „GG sonar“ or whatever software has some kinks to be worked out. My final issue is that if you accidentally place the battery to charge upside down (easy mistake to make) it literally becomes lodged in the charger/ port and is extremely hard to get back out.

I really want to love these, but it isn’t clicking

I’ve had these a few weeks now; I read the instructions and it told me what the buttons on the headset do, but I didn’t see any instructions for the SS deck that came with it. When the work, they’re great! But I’m constantly battling these headphones in a few very frustrating areas:1) The magnet covers: they fall off ALL the time, and I’ve yet to get them to stay on the first time after I change a battery. It would be very nice if there was a more definitive grab that held them in place at the right place, without me having to fiddle around and hope.2) The random, unexplained high pitch beeps. They happen – I don’t know why, I don’t know if it’s a battery issue (but when I check it never is), a connection issue (most likely, as explained later), and no way to find out what or why the beep happened. Should I stop, drop, and roll? Is it Stranger-Danger? Do you not like my choice in music? Some hint would be nice.3) My most vexing issue: I have to fight tooth and nail to get it to connect to my Pixel 8 Pro phone. It’s there as a paired option, but actually connecting is a coin flip – maybe it works, maybe it doesn’t. Even when I see it’s connected, when I start dialing a phone number it doesn’t connect through my headset. Everything is set appropriately as it has been for my last headsets (Jabra 75Pro, Shure 846s with True Wireless connectors), but these just don’t automagic like I’d expect them to.Like other reviewers, I used these across a couple of devices: my computer (Work, gaming, all in one), and my phone (work, gaming, music, video streaming, all in one).I want so, so much for these to just work. Especially after convincing my very dubious wife that I absolutely had to have these specific headphones (mostly for gaming and music). Why don’t they? Why isn’t there an app that helps control these mo-betta? Why is it such a struggle?

    Amazing sound with minor issues

    — 5 Month Review —I’ve really been enjoying the headset for games. For any gamers, I’ve been using this for games like Tarkov and R6. The sound is amazing for games that require you to be a sound fiend and I definitely hear things that my teammates couldn’t which gives a very nice edge. Some minor issues that I’ve had is the OLED base station lies to me about my battery life sometimes but is an easy fix, I just turn the headset off then back on and it’s reading it fine. It’s happened 3 times but my sound will randomly shut out anything from everything I’m listening to (Discord, games, music, etc.) and blast some ungodly static noise into my cranium. Also an easy fix. Just turn it off then back on again. Just like with all PC headsets, this one is no different, plug the base into the back of the PC like you would with a wired headset otherwise it’ll have quite a bit of connection issues.

    What an Upgrade

I bought some Steel Series I think 350 or something 7 or 10 years ago. They still work, but I wanted to get an upgrade and this has been way better than I ever could have wanted. There is active noise cancellation, so my room AC noise gets eliminated. There’s like a pass-through mode that you can listen to music but also hear people talking, similar to the headsets you use for shooting firearms. It doesn’t get so loud it gets uncomfortable, but they sound great. One negative to me (which may get better after more use) but if you don’t have anything playing and just enjoying the noise canceling properties… I can hear my heartbeat very loud. I don’t know if the ear cup sits just right or what, but it’s noticeable.Overall, going from a 3 ft cord to wireless has been amazing. I can go downstairs and get my door dash with it still playing fine. There is one spot as I’m coming back up the stairs where it gets fuzzy, but overall this is amazing.

    Great product

Don’t have much to say regarding sound quality, I’m not an expert in sound quality but the noise cancellation works great. Sound quality is fine for my needs, I’m not particularly picky for that. Extremely long lasting battery life. Honestly only purchases this product for the changeable battery. Dock is easy to understand and use. It’s great if you never want to be hard wired while using your device and can also connect my phone to it to use around the house when not at my computer.

One of the batteries didn’t work

Quality was great same with the mic. Sounded amazing. Super portable. And was easy to get the hang of. Controls were easy. And had amazing clarity. But one of the batteries it came with didn’t charge. But one is long enough for 2-5 days depending on how much you play. Then you can just charge it overnight. Good product. But a little overpriced. Still a good pick up if you’re a more serious gamer. And it’s the best wireless gaming headphones on the market.

Really Great Wireless Headset – Annoying Trash Steelseries Engine Software

This is a really great wireless headset, and works right of the bat. Has some pretty solid material design also, and pretty survivable. There’s a few connection issues or glitches that happen sometimes rarely, that’s to be expected in my opinion for a wireless headset though. I’ve heard the noise canceling isn’t the best, compared to others, but it works well enough for me. Seems to be pretty good about trimming out the hum of various devices and machines around me. Was unsure on the price but I think part of it goes into the base station and extra battery, which makes sense to me. This base station is pretty cool so far, for my needs atleast. Like the dual input channel is pretty good as it gives me some more options for dealing with multiple devices without falling back to bluetooth for audio. The backup battery and charging is pretty awesome also. Never felt it was worth the additional cost in the past, for few wireless headsets I bought. After this though, I’ll likely always try to get something like this for future wireless audio setups. Just it’s really nice to be able to quickly swap batteries and not be tethered to a place while it’s charging up. The only complaint here is that I wish the batteries were shaped in a way where I could place them in without looking or turning on a light. For some reason your able to place these batteries in the wrong way without anything to prevent that. Which might bend a few of the pins used for charging I suspect, unsure as unwilling to test that 🙂 Pretty bad design there and I hope they improve that in future versions. The main problem for this product, and why I’m docking a star. Is that it really depends on the Steelseries GG software to run some of it’s main features. This software is very much marketing focused and less focused on what it should be, which is managing your device (that you spent a lot of money on.) The home/main page is basically a marketing page, which you have to dig past every time to manage the device you bought. They also require a login to use these features, which doesn’t make a lot of sense beyond getting an opportunity to skim data like everyone else nowadays. Really taints the customer impression here I’d argue, rather than providing them a real benefit. I would understand if it was for some optional software tool you didn’t need for this to function (like Moments), or the Giveaways thing they do here, but not for software that is more core to the functionality of the device. Also as an aside, I don’t get the point of the Moments feature forced in here. AMD, Nvidia, Steam, Xbox, Playstation and etc; all have this covered already. We don’t need another layer here for this kind of thing, it’s just kind of silly and an unneeded waste of time all around. Anyways, back to the login thing. I understand some hardware companies have gone down that route lately, like Nividia and Razer I believe. I’ve recently used AMD and Logitech products and haven’t needed login for those to fully function. So it’s not everyone doing it in this space, and it might be best to be on the good side of it, and not so much the scummy unneccessary marketing side. If this doesn’t change down the line, I’ll likely just go for another brand that doesn’t do this kind of thing. I really like the quality material design (very much utility and survivable), simple usability, and a lot of the functionality here. So, I’d prefer not to have to do that, but I will if this doesn’t change. I’m just not really interesting in a lot of unnecessary bloatware that’s continuously running in the background, or being forced to provide unneeded details for using a product.

    I love these!!

They sound great! They are comfortable! The battery lasts sooooo long about 20 hours before needing to swap out for the second one! No downtime! I am a PC user with Windows 11.The only issue I have is that sometimes the battery indicator is not 100% accurate. You can pop the battery out of the dock when it says it is at 100% but within an hour you get beeping its low again. The headphones say it supports USB2, but once I moved the dock to a USB3 port the issue become very rare!

    Good headset but……….

Pros- The noise cancelling is decent and sound quality is 8/10 when compared to other headsets audeze maxwell being a 9/10 for me if that helps understand where I am coming from. The construction feels great with these headsets, better built in my opinion than my hyperx headsets, including my hyperx orbit. Also the software you download from steelseries is great and easy to understand, better than razer’s software IMO.Cons- The reason for my rating being a 3 out of 5 is due to constantly having to troubleshoot the headset. The power button has multiple different function leading to frustration trying to figure out what beep means what exactly and it can be finicky when trying to pair the damn thing. How hard at a $300-350 dollar price tag is it to add a button for pairing to 2.4Ghz? Honestly its bull crap. THE ADVERTISING making it sound like you can swap out batteries mid game and continue playing is a LIE. Often this causes multple problems, having to repair the headset to the DAC or reselect the headphones in the system’s sound settings all the way to having to restart the PC to get it to function. If you can deal with the pain in the butt button functions then yea they are a great headset, however if your the type of person to lose your temper easy when troubleshooting issues avoid these.

    could’ve been better

Positive +1. ANC on a gaming headset, not many exist. ANC itself is okay.2. somewhat good audio (this is coming from soundtrack maniac).3. the battery swap is neat, however it might’ve been better to just have a better, longer battery life.Neutral~1. can connect to PC and Bluetooth devise at the same time, although i don’t see any real life scenarios where you would do such a thing.Negative -1. the GameDac is terrible and unnecessary (regular dongle would’ve been better), and if it breaks, you’ll loose ability to connect to PC, unless your PC has Bluetooth and you’re okay with using it with big latency. Mine in particular broke just now, within 8 months of use, so i’ll be sending in in it’s pristine condition to the manufacturers to work on.2. Microphone audio quality sucks, it feels clunky.3. the overhead band is terrible. It is too big for my head and i have to insert the bottom pin into the very top hole so that it sits properly, which in result makes the 2 top pins useless. The band only has two holes, there’s barely any room for adjustment.4. the passive noise cancelling is mediocre. I had to buy custom earpads to improve that, so that’s another 30$ on top of the original cost.5. when you max out the PC volume and decide to control the volume using the second mixer on the Gamedac/Headset, you come to realize that the equalizer changes depending on how loud the PC volume is. Why was it not locked/made static, is beyond my understanding.6. the headset often looses wireless connection with the Gamedac for some reason, even though i’m sitting right next to it.7. the ANC speaker is positioned in the middle, on top of the audio speaker, so in just hour of use, that thing begins to hurt your ears, because it’s sitting right against your ear.8. the build quality is questionable. every time i put it over my little head, i feel like the top portion is going to break.9. The side panels on the headset are literally magnets for dirt and alike. You accidentally swiped your nail against it? well too bad, this thing acts like a nail trimmer, except it accumulates and holds stuff inside of it, so now you have to clean it. True facepalm moment when engineer’s chose this design.Personal dislikes:1. headset has volume control on the left. if i need to adjust the volume while playing, i’d have to use the arm that controls the movement (left arm), making me a standing target in action games.2. this is a 350$ headset with so many drawbacks? are these people out of their mind? The SteelSeries app is usable on anything else without loosing functions, meaning that you could use it with another headset of your choice, so there is really no point of buying this headset in particular, especially if you don’t need ANC while at home.Unfortunately, just because of ANC, this headset is currently the best one i could find. If someone finally releases a wireless headset with great audio/mic quality and an ANC+good passive cancelling, i’m swapping instantly, and selling this abomination.

Great headset, packed with features – even better company!

So this is my second Steel Series headset purchase!A couple years ago I got back into gaming and decided to upgrade from my PS4 to Xbox X. I had just prior got fedup with cheap wired and wireless headsets because they just didn’t last and I hate being tethered down. Not to mention, I was buying a new one every few months…Not sure how I stumbled across Steel Series to be honest, but I did. Did some research and landed on the Arctis 9x (xbox version). Price tag then and now $200. To me that was (and lets be honest, it is) pretty expensive in my book. I’ve never spent that much on a headset before and I even made fun of friends that would shell out that kind of moolah.Got the 9x and loved it! Super comfy and battery lasts for ages, and has dual wireless capabilities, blah blah blah. Here’s why I tell this story. About 4-6 months after the warranty expired, the headset broke where it connects from the headband to the earcup. I was quite pissed. I spent a lot of money on this headset and it doesn’t even last a year. Because of this, I reached out to Steel Series- thinking I was going to be shut down and they would just give me the uncaring „warranty expired“ garbage.NOPE, they actually cared, were very kind and really wanted to help. They didn’t give me grief about the warranty. Did mention it was out of warranty, but was still going to help me and replace the headset. I did have to take pictures of the defect and then completely destroy the headset and send more pics. But, within 1-2 weeks I got a brand new headset! Now that’s a company that actually gives a damn about their customers and the gaming community!Fast forward to a few months ago. I wanted to upgrade to a new headset and was willing to shell out the $350 bucks. I didn’t look into any other brand because I knew if something went wrong with this pricy investment, Steel Series has my back! The Nova Pro Xbox wireless is pricey, but has a ton of features, comfy, crazy battery life, comes with 2 batteries where you can hot swap them, etc. I absolutely love this headset.Oh, make sure you buy the Xbox version, regardless if you’re PlayStation or not. That’s because the xbox version is the same price as the Playstation/PC version but the xbox supports Playstation, PC, and obviously xbox as well. Whereas the Playstation version does NOT support xbox. No brainer. Oh, my only cons are:1. Even on the Nova Pro Wireless, they still have the headband being connected to a plastic housing on the earcups. This should be upgraded to avoid breakage!2. The headset isn’t very breathable, period. Because of the PU Leather they use, it’s not difficult for your ears to sweat and to heat up quite a bit. They should switch to the materials they use on their Arctis 9x or add ventilation, like many other brands do.I recommend Steel Series to EVERYONE. I think you will love the headsets and the company. Thanks a million Steel Series for making amazing products and standing by them.

    Amazing headsets but software limitations

Pros:Sound Quality – no complaints whatsoever excellent highs, mid range, and bass (without sonar)Build quality – while the hinges are plastic it doesn’t feel cheap at all and I don’t expect it to breakComfortable – all I had to do was adjust the height and there is plenty of space to mess around with that this headset is definitely big head friendly.Cons:Software – the majority of what’s advertised is available using sonar and I personally did not like it it removed the emersion it kept pulling bass from moments where it would’ve added to the environment also just randomly pulling volume for no reason if you plan to play competitively and don’t need the emersion aspect then by all means it is very good but if you are like me and want to take it all in while playing then I would recommend just not turning on sonar the sound is 1000 times better and you can still hear audio cues.Comfort – specifically the ear pieces get your ears really warm I’d suggest getting the replacement cooling ones but if you don’t game for extended periods of time it’s fine.Overall amazing sound (without sonar) great build quality and comfort (minus the warm ear pieces) I’ll be updating this as time passes

    Made for gamers

First I can change batteries wow. My A50s won’t let me and these are just as good but I can buy all new parts as they wear out. You can only charge a headset so many times before they stop holding a charge. Had to keep my last headset plugged into a charger anytime I used them. This came with 2 batteries and a charger base station. Awesome headset.

Don’t skimp. If you’re looking for a gaming headset, land here.

As a PS5 guy I originally went with the PlayStation headset. I don’t even play online with any frequency, but at the very least I play occasionally. So my original thought was „it just has to work“. I regretted that decision as it was highly uncomfortable, the audio quality was lacking and it didn’t even support the controller mute button. This FROM THE MANUFACTURER OF THE CONSOLE (poor effort Sony). So I dove in and got this as a replacement. Every single complaint I had was immediately fixed. I can wear it for any length of time, comfortably. The audio is better than the audio system I have and it supports the mute button. And it added features I didn’t think I’d use like 3d audio, multiple audio inputs (so I can play an audiobook from my phone AND hear game audio) but I have. It’s not PERFECT in terms of wishlist type things…I don’t love having to be tethered to a „base“ unit. Its really more of a functional flaw in how consoles do this and does have some value add (just not for my use case). And I don’t love the way the batteries are managed, sometimes I get frustrated getting the cover off. That said it didn’t impact my 5 star rating because either a) it wasn’t the manufacturers fault as it’s a limitation of achieving the result, b) it’s nominal and doesn’t significantly „move the bar“ in terms of overall product performance and c) can be positives to other people. There is a non-trivial cost of entry to get a headset. Don’t save 75-100$ and shortchange yourself. Spend wisely. Get the best out there. Get this headset.

I recently had the pleasure of getting my hands on the NEW SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless Multi-System Gaming Headset, and let me tell you, this is a game-changer! As an avid gamer, I’ve tried numerous headsets over the years, but none have left me as impressed as this one. From the moment I put them on, I knew I was in for a treat.First things first, the sound quality is absolutely mind-blowing! The premium Hi-Fi drivers deliver crystal-clear audio with impeccable precision. Whether I’m playing intense first-person shooters or immersing myself in open-world adventures, the Nova Pro Wireless never fails to provide an immersive and rich audio experience. Every explosion, every footstep, and every dialogue feels incredibly realistic, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the game world. One feature that truly sets this headset apart is the Active Noise Cancellation. It’s like stepping into a soundproof oasis. The outside world fades away, leaving only me and my game. No more distractions or background noise to disrupt my concentration. I’ve gone through countless gaming marathons without needing to charge them, thanks to the efficient power management system. This is a huge plus for anyone who spends hours on end gaming like me.The Stealth Retractable Mic is another great addition to this headset. The microphone quality is exceptional, providing clear and crisp voice chat. Plus, the retractable design is so convenient. When I don’t need to use the microphone, I can simply tuck it away without any hassle. It’s a small detail, but it’s the little things that make a difference. One aspect I absolutely appreciate about the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless is its versatility. It’s compatible with a wide range of gaming platforms, including PC, PS5/PS4, Switch, and even mobile devices. Switching between devices is seamless, and I love having a single headset that can cater to all my gaming needs. It’s truly a one-size-fits-all solution. The comfort level of these headphones is worth mentioning as well. The plush ear cushions and adjustable headband make for a perfect fit. The best headphones I have owned

I’ve gone through my fair share of headphones. Nothing has matched the solid design, sound quality, and swappable battery feature that these headphones offer. First, and most importantly the sound quality is excellent. The noise cancellation on them is great. I will admit that the ACTIVE noise cancellation on them is not as good as high-end models of other brands. However, unless you are using them with construction noise going on, you won’t notice. The passive noise cancellation on them makes up for it. When wearing them, I basically cannot hear my kids‘ TV shows (or the kids) while listening to an audio book in the same room. These headphones also offer a swappable battery, which doesn’t sound like a big deal since the batteries last a long time. However, it is super nice to be able to put in a fully charged battery and put the nearly dead one in the charger. You just neve never have to worry about whether they are fully charged or nearly dead. Also, a swappable battery means an EASILY REPLACABLE battery. You get the piece of mind that your expensive headphones are not going to wind up as e-waste in a few years when the battery wears out. When that happens, buy another comparatively cheap battery and recycle the old battery pack. At the time I write this, they cost $20 for a pair of two batteries. If you are away from home, you can charge via USB-C instead of carrying around the receiver / battery charger. In addition to bluetooth connectivity, they connect to the receiver via a higher bandwidth wireless connection for situations where you have lossless audio to play. Did I mention that they will connect to bluetooth and the receiver at the same time, so if you need a headset for work you can leave them connected to both the computer and your phone all day and just never take them off. They will play sound from both sources at the same time too.The ear pads are replaceable. So is the head-band that sits on your head. Basically, these things are designed to last as long as you can take care of them.I cannot recommend these headphones enough

    Premium Headphones with High Utility

I was gifted these to replace an aged pair of Corsair wireless headphones that I used for work meetings. I was attracted to the noise cancelling features (sound and mic) because I work while on a desk treadmill. I usually use Bose QC45s when not on a call, but these units allow me to run both PC and Bluetooth, even simultaneously, without switching headphones or feeds. It’s kind of fun to give people or meetings their own theme music, but they can’t hear it, so it’s definitely just for your own indulgence. The ability to plug these into a console via the portable module is a fantastic perk when I want to play a game quietly or on a non-optimal sound-equipped screen. These units are comfortable for all-day use. I sometimes forget they are on my head. I love having the transparency mode, which enhances environmental noise so that I don’t need to take these units off to talk when noise cancelling isn’t needed during an in-person conversation. The sound quality is exceptional, and the battery lasts me 3-4 days before I need to swap out, but I do have some minor battery issues (more on that below). I have some quality-of-life issues with these headphones; or maybe it’s just my unit. When I turn on the main feed connecting to the base module, I get some audio cues that the unit is connected or disconnected. I don’t get a cue when connecting Bluetooth. And sometimes, when I activate Bluetooth while connected to the main module, the units become non-responsive. BT doesn’t start, and I can’t power them down from the main connection. I have to pull the battery to get them to reset. Not as annoying, but still an issue, is that one of my batteries will only discharge to 75% before the headphones start a low battery notice. On the topic of low battery notices, you get minutes, not much more before these units power down. When you hear the notice, head for your module to pull the spare battery because the units will go silent in short order. Having two batteries is non-negotiable, so it’s good these come with a pair. I was hoping the range of these units would be like my QC45 units, but the range is about half. To be clear, I think the range on my Bose units are unbelievable for what they are, so this limitation is not a slight. These Arctis units aren’t aimed at an active user demographic or outdoor use, so it’s not a deal breaker, but they don’t hold to your head if you intend to operate in a vigorous workshop or at a modest exercise level. Their best use case is for more sedentary activities or light mobility like walking (do not run). I do think there is a strong case for headphones like these aimed at a more active use case, but this company knows its customer base, and it has created a near-masterpiece for them. Their utility means that I now use them far more than my other options, which is a credit to their quality and engineering.

Would be excellent…but product assembly has a huge quality control problem

I ordered the Steelseries Nova Pro Wireless to replace my Steelseries Arctis Pro (wired) headset. I ordered two sets of the Steelseries Nova Pro Wireless headsets, one for me and one for my wife. The headsets arrived amazingly fast, same day for one headset and early the next morning for the second headset. The headsets were packaged very well for safe transport.Because I already owned another Steelseries headset I knew the sound quality (and associated software „Steelseries GG“) worked very well and the Steelseries Nova Pro wireless possess the a slightly better sound. The sound compared to my older wired Steelseries headset is deeper base, spicy highs, and richer vocals in the Nova Pro Wireleless. The ANC (automatic noise cancelling) in the Nova Pro Wireless is on par with any audiophile high end headset, even comparing it to my Sennheiser, Bose, B&W, or B&O. The headset itself feels on par as well with high end quality headsets. The Nova Pro Wireless headset is much more comfortable versus my Steelseries Artis Pro headset, this is primarily due to the headband on the Nova Pro, and the ability to adjust individual ear heights. The Nova Pro gently rests on my head versus the Arctis pro which put undue pressure on top of my head and had a much tighter feeling. The Nova Pro wireless does not possess any RGB which I personally find a little disappointing. I believe Steelseries will release a wireless RGB version in the near future. The cushioning around the ears is faux leather. While it is plush and comfortable in fitment, it is very uncomfortable for anything longer than 10 minutes due to radiating body heat. Your ears will become hot steamy messes inside the encapsulating headset. To address this I ordered two ‚cooling gel+cloth earpad replacements‘ which can easily be found here on Amazon in several colors and patterns. The Steelseries Nova Pro wireless comes with two rechargeable batteries which is extremely pleasing, there doesn’t have to be any downtime or corded attachment when one battery drains. Battery life for a single battery lasts me a few days of gaming/media consumption/music before I need to recharge it. I leave the volume at max settings and even increase the db +2 from the Sonar settings menu. I like everything LOUD and with heavy bass. On the Steelseries website it states that a single battery lasts 36 hours (when using 2.4ghz connection, the default connection method to the included control hub). The battery that isn’t in use sits in the Control Hub, which charges it, but if you prefer, you can also plug the included USB cable into your headset to charge the battery from the headset itself. The headset can also be connected via Bluetooth to any device (including PC), however for my specific usage (PC only), I choose to not utilize bluetooth due to Windows 11 connection stability issues that are well known. If you utilize bluetooth to your PC the headset also states that is has much less battery duration life (18-22hours vs 36).The headset comes with two USB-A to USB-C cables, one for connecting the Control hub to your PC and another for connecting the Control Hub (simultaneously) to a Xbox/PS5/etc. The Control hub uses a monotone OLED display which is decently bright (could be brighter IMHO). The control of the volume knob has a satisfying movement that feels of decent quality. There are built in ’sound environments for certain games that can be adjusted from the Control hub but a much more extensive list of games within the Sonar menu (Steelseries GG app).My major gripe comes from the quality control and non-existent Customer Support from Steelseries. As I stated earlier, I ordered TWO of these headsets, within a week of each other. *Both* headsets displayed greasy fingerprints inside the OLED glass/screen cover (it may be plastic but it is not removable to confirm). Initially with the first headset I assumed it may be an Amazon return that was re-packaged very well. However…the second headset was positively un-opened and brand new yet had the same fingerprints inside the OLED screen, as well as a small knick on the side of the OLED screen. The surface of the OLED screen also has micro-abrasions on both of them, similar to when you use something abrasive to clean glass/plexiglass. Both headsets arrived with a clear plastic film covering the screens which would be very difficult to remove then put back on with the same integrity, therefore it is clear that Steelseries has a manufacturing quality issue.Because of this problem I attempted to contact Steelseries for the first time since owning their products for years. Customer support is non-existent unless you order your product directly from the Steelseries website. In 2024 it is in-excusable for a large company to not provide an immediate direct method for problem resolution, and a customer support forum or Q&A is not a sufficient method. Steelseries expects Amazon to handle their problems. Luckily Amazon provides an amazing customer experience and is sending me another Steelseries Nova Pro wireless headset, once received I have to send the damaged one back, but there is no charge to me or downtime during this process. I will update this review once I receive the replacement headset…which I hope does not arrive with greasy fingerprints inside the display.Due to the two highly negative aspects of this headset, one: the greasy fingerprints inside the OLED glass on TWO headsets, and two: the non-existent customer support, I cannot recommend this headset to others.

Great features but audio quality could be better

Summary:Sound Quality: 3.5/5Range: 3.7/5Features: 5/5Voice Chat: 5/5So these are amazing headphones with one caveat. If you are even somewhat of an audiophile you’ll notice that out of the box these headphones lack bass, depth, and can sound a bit tinny at times.Playing with the eq does improve this but not enough to make me want to watch movies or listen to music with them. That said as gaming headphones they excel in almost every aspect. They ability to hot swap batteries and charge a spare in the base is awesome. Setting up EQ, switch sound presets etc is very easy as well. The side tone is awesome on these. I never found myself having to take one off my ear to hear my own voice as I often do with other headphones. The only other area I could think of for potential improvement would be that they are 2.1, after coming f rom Hyper X Cloud 7.1 headphones I can tell the difference in the directionality of the sound when listening for footsteps in Apex Legends and other FPS.That said these are replacing my Hyper X Clouds because the earcups on those fall off every 5 minutes which drove me nuts, these seem to have better build quality but we’ll see after a year or two.

    Good but a few quirks

The headphones are good but there are a few quirks. I’ve had these for about 2 days and I already hate swapping batteries. Trying to get the battery to insert into the DAC is ridiculous. It takes me like 10 presses to get it to stay in there. 2. they exacerbate this problem by hiding the headphone usb port, and not putting it on the bottom of the cup. This is like the Apple mouse charging port issue, except at least the mouse charges pretty quickly. Also these aren’t great for long periods of use. I had the Playstation wireless headphones before this and they were much more comfortable for a long period. My only guess is that these cups are more shallow and it causes the edges of my ears to start hurting after awhile. It also says you can’t use the microphone while it is retracted. That is dumb. My Playstation headphones didn’t even have a microphone that sticks out and everyone could hear me fine. No reason I should have to pull a piece of spaghetti out of the headset every time. These are nice but they aren’t full price nice. Buy them on a deep sale.

    An upgrade from previous gen

I bought these coming from using the previous gen model (2 pairs) from 2020 to now. Both of those broke on the hinges, so I’m hoping that these last longer and they fixed that flaw. These have a much greater battery lifespan, however the inside specs differ from the battery specs. Inside the battery hole it says the battery is supposed to be 850mah, but mine is 700mah. No clue why it says that.Another irritating thing is the batteries were changed at all, all the previous generations had 1000mah battery packs, anyone whos ever had a previous gen headset would have multiple sets of these batteries. That are working just fine, why would you reinvent the wheel? Just use the same battery size and you wouldn’t even have to manufacture different batteries, and long term customers could reuse their old batteries instead of throwing them away. The noise cancellation has this annoying knob in the middle of the speaker, yes its an issue, yes it can be uncomfortable, and yes there is a solution. I had to buy a thicker ear cup replacement which puts my distance from it. Now after spending more money I shouldn’t have, that issue is kind of resolved…The speakers seem to be of lesser quality to previous gen. I could crank my headset up so loud playing dubstep, trance, rock, jazz, rap, whatever music I played it was crystal clear. These ones have distortions and static at around 75% volume. If you adjust your equalizer to have semi high bass then it will drop even further. using these on the phone also has this issue. The headband is a huge upgrade, I’m so glad they fixed this! The old gen headband would stretch out over time and it had nowhere to Velcro it to. So you had this over tightened band flapping around on top of the headset. This new design is great I’ve got no issues with it so far.If the hinge issue is truly fixed, this is a good upgrade. What they should have done though is make the speakers aluminum like the headband. Its a $350 headset there’s no reason you cant put a thin aluminum housing over the speakers to make it last.

I’ve had a lot of different headsets

I’ve had a lot of gaming headsets from Sony headsets to Astro headsets and more …. But something sets the Steel series nova pro’s in a class of its own . It’s a very premium headset the sound is amazing no matter if your listening to music or watching a movie or playing call of duty and listening for footsteps this headset pretty much dose it all . The battery life is amazing For being such a little battery. The cool thing about it is you get two batteries So one is always charged in the command hud that’s OLED display with all your functionality at your fingertipsBut I can’t give it 4.0 far as the headset goes . But The mic 🎤 that’s built on to the headset Needs to be reevaluated and better design for better Clarity on a scale from 1 to 10 I’d give it a 7.0 on the mic but everything else about the headset is better then the rest in my opinion that’s out there . Hope this review helped

    Impressive quality, great sound

The technology and features built into this headset is incredible. I absolutely love the appearance, features, and design of the headset. As far as hardware, this is great quality: the mic, speaker quality, and customizable Bluetooth settings. The battery life, quality, and range on the Bluetooth is also incredible. The software on this product is great too, as it’s very featureful with tons of customization. However, I’m docking a star on this review, as the Sonar software is kind of a learning curve, sometimes hard to work with. SteelSeries provides plentiful software features, with new updates, but occasionally I’ll hit a minor bug I need to fix on my end.

    Great for my overstimulation homies

Looking for a pair of headphones that will play two audio sources simultaneously? Well look no further! You can use a USB-C connected device & a Bluetooth connection to play audio from a separate to your Nova Pros. I have my gaming PC and my laptop connected to my headphones. One for gaming and the other for Chrome usage to spread the load. You’ll still have a separate USB-C connection that you can switch over to, via the dac, if needed. SteelSeries Sonar software is cool but I don’t really need to mix my audio further. The ANC is good not AirPod Gen2 quality but good enough. Battery life is great and being able to charge a separate battery is great. You can get 3rd party battery and other part replacements, a big plus, that allow you to further personalize your pair of Nova Pros. I would recommend picking up the Wicked Cushion replacements as the original leather ear cups just don’t cut it for long use. I have a big head with big ears and these headphones are great even when I’m using them 12+hrs a day with the replacement cups. Overall, a great pair pair of headphones with enough features to be worth the initial sticker price.

    Amazing headset

Sound wise it’s amazing I am a huge fan of steel series and will never use another brand for headsets but one issue I have with these (which is fine the rest of the headset over rates this one issue. Periodically while mid game my headset will turn off and cut back on I do not know if mine is faulty or not but the quality and sound are amazing. I can hear people walking in call of futy and Fortnite really well. Highly recommend these to anybody. Mic quality everyone says I sound really good and I stopped using my hyper x quad cast to use my headphone mic. Clarity is amazing. Weight is really good they are not heavy on the head. Durability seems good as well.

    Dual Purposed and Perfect…almost…

I’m a gamer….and also a remote worker.I found myself looking for an audio solution that would fit both worlds. At the time I was using a wired Arctis Pro headset (prior generation) for gaming, and wireless earbuds for work communications. Needless to say, switching products for different use was becoming irritating, considering both PC’s are set up on the same desk.I happened to be browsing the SteelSeries site, and came across the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless. Love SS products, as they have never failed me (headset, mouse, keyboard). Needless to say, I took the plunge and purchased them.I’ve always been a bit skeptical regarding headsets that are both wireless and bluetooth capable. Prior items I’ve tested always fell short, either in battery life, bluetooth or wireless range. I’m happy to say, I have yet to see any issues with the headset, with one exception, which I’ll touch on later.Considering my prior SS headset was the Arctis Pro w/GameDac, I chose to purchase the model with GameDac for the Nova Pro Wireless. My first thought was about battery life *shrug* as that always seem to be a point of contention, even with earbuds I had in the past for use with my phone. I didn’t waste time regarding testing wireless and bluetooth battery life separately.Once I had the latest SteelSeries software updates, and updated the headset to the latest firmware, I connected both my personal PC and my work phone to the headset. On an average day, I am typically in calls for at least 6 hours. In between calls, in the past, I had been using the personal PC to stream music via the wired Arctis Pro headset. Needless to say, the idea the Nova Pro wireless would eliminate swapping between headset and earbuds was the first thought in my head. The results were technical perfection. I could listen to music without issue. During inbound or outbound calls, the music muted as calls started. Calls ended, and back to music. No swapping between two devices, no hassle…no muss and no fuss. They say the battery life is on average 11 hours. Luckily this has two batteries and the DAC is also the charger for the spare battery. I’ve used the headset consistently day in and day out, and typically find I’m only changing the battery after about 13 hours of use without bluetooth enabled, and about the same with bluetooth only being used. With both, I see about 10-11 hours of usage before needing to swap batteries.During the first couple of days, I noticed sound quality wasn’t what I was used to from my Arctis Pro headset…then it dawned on me. I needed to go back into the SteelSeries software, and make sure I had changed both the settings and Sonar to have these as the primary sound device, as well as doing the same in my Windows settings. 5 minutes later, music was back to the quality I had grown accustom to. Sounds when gaming had not only returned in quality, but were actually better. Spatial sound allowed for easier identification of direction. All in all, just turned out an overall bettter experience.Another plus was getting up from my desk, having grown comfortable with wearing a headset, and not jerking my head back down because of a cord. I had walked from my desk to my kitchen before I even realized just how freeing the wireless experience was.Distance of the coverage is also amazing. For bluetooth, I can walk 30 feet away from my phone without issue, where my earbuds (Sony 1000MX5) started cutting out after about 5-6 feet, requiring me to pick up my phone every time I moved. On the wireless side, music moves with me all through the house. I can cook, clean, or just chill anywhere and enjoy it. Even this gets close to 30 feet before I start noticing any degradation. The only thing I did notice was something that should have been obvious: if the microwave is between the headset and DAC, it will cause the audio to flutter, but not break completely. Now to the ANC (Noise Cancellation). While it is a great addition to this headset, I think this might be where I have found, from prior use of both, Sony and Bose have more efficient noise cancelling. On the plus side, while it doesn’t completely eliminate consistent noise, it does drastically reduce it to a level of being some distance away. Even with the lawn mower nearby, I could hear people on the calls, as well as they could hear me, without the lawn mower drowning either side out. The ANC reduces sound possibly -30db, but doesn’t eliminate them all together. Even consistent noises become a minor backdrop in the audio world. It does its job well…even when on Discord with auto-mic in a chatroom. Now I mentioned an exception at the start of this review, and here it is: the fit. My wired Arctis Pros would allow me to bend over and or tilt my head without moving around on my head. This isn’t the case with the Nova Pro Wireless. I believe this is due to one simple reason: the factory pads on the headset do not feel as robust as the former, therefore does not have the same ability to remain stationary. This is easily rectified by purchasing aftermarket replacements. If SS were to pay closer attention to reviews, they would see how some have stated this, and I’m in agreement: make them robust…and make them a bit more breathable as well. The faux leather design is just a trend all headset manufacturers follow as it „allows a better fit to eliminate noises around you“ Pish Posh! There is hardly any difference between using a breathable material vs „leather“ materials, unless you are an uber-picky audiophile. Listen to the people SS…they have spoken.Outside of the pads, this is hands-down a 5-Star production for battery life, sound quality, gaming, media and bluetooth connectity to a ton of various products from phones to TV’s to streaming devices. A stellar upgrade from the Arctis Pro wired, in both quality and freedom of movement. If you have your doubts about switching from wired to wireless…do yourself a favor….CUT THE CORD!!!You won’t regret it at all.

The most convenient yet stylish headset for those gaming and working from home

Hi all (READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY),Below is my one-week review with the product. I will edit it after a 3 month period. To start, I have lots of experience with headphones. I have had Beats Studios, Airpods Max, Turtle Beachs, Bose 700s, multiple Razer headsets, and even other Steelseries products like the Arctis 6. None of these compare to these for a few reasons I will go into below. I use headphones for gaming but also I work from home as a software engineer, so I am on the computer a LOT and in lots of zoom meetings.!!! Disclaimer !!!: These are the „Xbox“ version of these. That means, on your multi-system adapter/DAC, one cord can go into a PC/PlayStation and one can go into an Xbox. **If you plan to use this for a PC and PlayStation, please go buy the non-Xbox version. That said, if you plan to ever use this with an Xbox, you will need this version. You CAN use the Xbox slot for a PC, but it will show up as an „Xbox Controller“ and will have more limited functionality.Okay, back to the reasons.1. Ease of use. I opened these up, plugged the multi-system DAC into my PC, turned on the headset and was ready to go. I had a few onboarding steps: Download Steelseries GG, update drivers, restart device (a few times?), but since then they have works FLAWLESSLY.2. Wireless. These aren’t just your typical wireless. I have had no connection issues. I can walk to the other side of the house, as long as I don’t have too many walls between me and my computer these things still work, even then there was just some static. The quality is great as well.3. Battery. This is HUGE. There is a battery in the headset that you can remove and swap with the one CHARGING IN THE DAC. Yes, you heard me, just swap the battery when you need and boom, full charge. You’ll never need the direct connection outside of updates to the firmware. This really is fantastic and easy to use.4. Microphone. I don’t personally use the microphone, but the quality compared to most other headset mics I have used it up there. Some have asked me if you can use the mic while it is in the headset still. I’d say yes, but it will be lower volume and less clear, but I tested it and it would still work (and frankly was still better than like HyperX headset microphones that I’ve had. I wouldn’t buy these FOR the microphone per-say, if you want a nice microphone you can buy a Blue Snowball for cheap on amazon on sale and it’ll be all you need unless you want more professional stuff (get the Blue Yeti after that maybe).5. Connection. I have only used the DAC connection which is really really good as I said in the wireless review. That said, I will be trying to Bluetooth to test that seamlessness they inspire there. I would LOVE if I could get phone notifications while also gaming or in work calls without interrupting those I’m talking to our my gaming experience too much (while of course also me still being alerted).6. Look. These look great. They look professional enough that I can wear them on work calls. I would maybe thing twice if it was a client meeting, but other than that, I’d feel comfortable in these all day.7. Comfort. This is only a one-week review, but I will say they are quite comfortable. The airpods max and arctis 6 are notable uncomfortable to me, the first being too heavy and the second putting too much pressure on parts of my head that I get a headache. That said, no problem with these so far. I like the ear cups actually, they’re soft and feel premium (as they should for this price point). I know I’ve seen people complain online, but I’ve had no issues with these. If I do, you’ll see an update right below here.Overall: Great connectivity and ease of use while looking nice enough for me to not be embarrassed because they’re „gaming“ all while being comfortable with good audio. This is a very high price point. If you really are a gamer and want a very intuitive product while avoiding crazy RGBs and your headsets looking too „gaming“, and you can afford these, then absolutely. That said, this is not just money you’re spending on this headset but it’s money you could put elsewhere. Audio is important, but you could get a perfectly good headset for less and still not miss out on the gaming experience. These are absolutely a ‚premium‘ product and thus the price point might not really align perfectly. That said, these are my favorite headphones to-date and I am very happy with my purchase, so you might be too. Please like this helpful if this was useful for you. Thanks for listening to my TED Talk 🙂

Review from owner of previous version artic pro wireless

This is a review I will be updating more or less yearly. I am probably the definition of a power user for these headphones because I wear the entire day while I work and game, so like 10+ hours of daily wear for years on end. I dual pair and pick up work and family calls. I walk around the house doing chores while on meetings so range is important, everything is being used here.My previous pair fell apart after 3 years, what was the culprit? The plastic, the plastic arm that holds the cups literally started giving out, flexing and cracking, letting the headband slip out. These headphones still use plastic in those areas, so we’ll see. What I like:Comfort: Excellent. I have a big ole head and the comfort on the novas is far superior. I can’t describe it, the headband on the other ones would make my glasses leave marks behind my ears, real acquired taste, maybe a little masochism. These don’t do that. The earpads are super soft and nice, I honestly like them more than the wear earwax trap aero weave or whatever the last ones had.Sound: Seriously better. The novas along with the sonar software sound a lot brighter and clear. Apparently these near ear pads do some good work on the lowend, doesn’t seem to be lacking. Certainly a step up. The previous version you could feel it maxing out and muddying up pretty badly, specially on the crucial low end parts. They could get a little fatiguing and the EQ feature was a little bizarre and harsh. Not horrible but I wouldn’t put them anywhere on a top tier list.User Experience: Same buttons on the side but they are now in this like, recessed area so you have to fiddle around to find them and any rubbing against the plastic translates to loud a** noise in your ears because of the seal the earpads have, it’s meh, minor detail in the grand scheme of things but my hand is on those buttons all day, flipping to bluetooth, chatmix, volume, muting. Steelseries please make them like immediately obvious and protruding again please.Microphone: Fantastic, a lot more sensitive to distance from the mouth than the previous version. I put it a bit too close and I was clipping like a mad man. Easy to get used to, love the fact that it can be EQd in sonar. Better than previous version I think, we’ll see.Build: They feel robust, similar headband deal going on, more subtle with only a couple of adjustment points.Battery life: I could be biased given my previous set had a lot of use but I did buy many new sets of batteries. The novas seem to be able to about twice as far as the pro wireless battery wise.I still think these headphones are the best pound for pound out there when it comes to all around feature set and quality. There’s nothing that comes close. Steelseries contact me if you need feedback from someone that wears these 12 hours a day.

    Wait, it has exchangable batteries????

After purchasing the Arctis 7 model headset by SteelSeries, and I liked it so much that I bought another one after it broke after two years. This time though, I decided that I liked the headphones enough to purchase their higher end model headset.Unlike the cheaper series, this headset comes with a handful of rather nice quality of life upgrades. My favorite is definitely the small chip shaped batteries that you can swap out to instantly get back to a full charge. The wireless receiver comes with a cartridge slot to charge the batteries in, and it displays your volume levels, which can be very handy if you accidentally muted chat without noticing! Notably my favorite feature in these headsets is the dial built in that lets you tweak volume to prioritize either games/media or voicechat. Honestly at this point it’s a feature I cannot do without!Unfortunately there have been a few drawbacks as compared to the Arctis 7. The ear cups are a bit too tight on my ears, which applies pressure to my piercings and starts to hurt after a while. The audio quality is great, and the equalizer is helpful, but having owned multiple pairs** of Studio Headphones in the past, these are not quite the studio quality for audiophiles out there; at least not without some extensive equalizer tinkering. **[Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro, Audiotechnica mx40, and AKG K240 Studio headsets]I don’t particularly consider myself an aficionado in audio, but in my expertly unexpert opinion, I’d say that these have a relatively strong mid-low range and a relatively soft high range. Quite a good balance out of the box, if sometimes a bit overwhelming on the bass and a bit underwhelming on the high notes, but never tinny or fuzzy sounding.

Negative Reviews need to read the instruction manual.

I see the top review is by a guy named M. Webb.I’d like to address some of his points and how just a few seconds of reading the instructions would have addressed all but one concern he has because the optical port was removed.I have no issues with the GG software. There is a feature that will allow you to hear yourself with ANC on when you’re using the mic. If you go to the break-out box, you can turn that off. Other than that, I don’t see why he is recommending to stay away from it. You NEED it to update the firmware.1. „you’re restricted to only making changes to sound profiles, etc when you use the software“Hold the button down, it will go into the menus to adjust the sound profiles. It says so in the instruction manual. After updating the firmware I closed the app and have not opened it again. It’s running in the background, and I have not used to adjust levels or anything. I do it all with the break-out box it came with.2. „So they give you this charging box now that doesn’t let you do anything other than adjust the volume and chatmix“Again, HOLD THE BUTTON DOWN for like 2 seconds and you can adjust everything from the break-out box just like the previous model. You CAN change sound profiles. You CAN adjust the chant mixYou CAN switch input/output modesRead the instructions.3. „Smaller battery – the previous generation used 1000 mah – they reduced the size to 700 mah. Less capacity so now we have to charge more often / buy more batteries“This is just flat out WRONG. The batteries easily last twice as long as the previous model. The previous model had a much shorter battery life, I have no idea WTF he’s even talking about, to be honest.4. They didn’t get rid of digital output, but they did get rid of the optical output, that’s his first valid point. But I don’t know why you would need it anymore. You can link this with any device that has a USB with the included USB C cable. And yes, it’s in surround, not stereo. Again, it seems like he just needs to read instructions, I have had 0 issues swapping devices without having to unplug/plug in any device. The headset outputs surround sound, check your settings.5. “ They decided to use the cheapest plastic design at this single point of failure resulting in headphones that deteriorate well within the warranty period unless you have a tiny head or treat them like they’re made of glass.“I have no idea what he’s even talking about. These are some of the sturdiest headphones I’ve ever bought. They feel like a tank and are solid. I don’t know where this „single point of failure is.“ He doesn’t explain or elaborate. I am looking all over my set and can’t find what he’s talking about. Everything is sturdy, there are made from metal and thick plastic, but it doesn’t feel heavy to wear.6. „ANC is shit quality. I Have 4 year old BOSE with ANC that work so much better at masking / eliminating drone noise.“The ANC is not the best you can get, but it works really well. Based on his previous complaints, I would guess he doesn’t know how to turn the ANC on. I cannot hear my PC next to me, I cannot hear the AC running from where I’m sitting with the ANC turned on. Is the ANC as good as my Sony XM5s? Hell no, but those are the best in the industry. If you’re getting these to wear everywhere and block sound, they are not the best, for that. But for just sitting at home playing games, again, it works really well.So in conclusion, he has no idea what he’s talking about. These are some of the best feeling and sounding gaming headsets I’ve ever bought. Wearing them kind of feels just like the Sony XM4/5s. So if you like how those fit and feel, you will like this headset. You can connect to 2 devices with this at once too using the breakout box and Bluetooth. So you can listen to a podcast/music on your phone and be connected to your PC/PS5 at the same time listening to both. So I would very much recommend this if you can afford it. They are a very good headset and a justifiable upgrade over the previous model. Some other things to address.I saw another complaint about that, Bluetooth not working. It works fine if you connect it correctly and don’t walk away too far. But I can walk downstairs and still listen to my phone with this if the phone is upstairs connected with Bluetooth. I have not had any issues dropping the connection. Maybe it’s a defect and he should exchange them? I don’t know, I don’t have that issue.Another complaint was about having to use the software to adjust the chatmix. You CAN NOT use the software for that. If you try and adjust it with the software it tells you to use the box! See the included screenshot.

    So many issues

I paid a hefty price for these „premium“ headphones and the issues I have with this would not even be worth buying if this was only $30. Also, I’m still encountering new issues to update my review on.Good:+Wireless headphones with great range+Double batteries and the station for these headphones has a charger for one while the other is in the headset.+Comfortable fit.+Lots of audio customization in the station alone that doesn’t require extra software. However, no amount of customizing fixed all these problems:- First off, this is a recent issue I’m adding to this review. I’ve had these headphones for less than a year, and already one of the ear cushions is tearing apart. I don’t think I’ve owned a headset before that degrades this quickly.-The sound quality is awful. I compared this headset with a cheaper one that was only $30 (with the same audio settings) and it was insane how bad these were. It sounds like the good audio is playing from a distance and you can never reach it.-If you use the 2.4G connection, don’t use the volume tuner on the station or on the headphones unless you want to hear an obnoxious popping noise soon after doing that. I’ve spent well over 3 hours looking up many guides and changing the audio settings on the station over and over and this issue never went away. And to top it off, you can’t use an external app to change the volume manually because this headset locks the volume at max and ONLY lets you use the headset or station volume control. The only way to get around that is to use something like SteelSeries GG equalizer since the volume control works differently on there. That alone would have deterred me from buying these if I had known about this. But there’s plenty more to say.-Bluetooth setting fixed the volume cackling issue but brought up a new one. Some devices had terrible audio regardless of station settings, ALL had background static while nothing was playing (and sometimes still while something was playing), and audio levels jumped by 5 instead of 1 when using the volume tuner on the headset. Once again, after hours of looking up guides and changing settings on the station did nothing to fix this.-Battery charging. Despite being able to swap batteries, it doesn’t matter when they randomly decide to not charge for no reason. It happens every (and I do mean EVERY) time I take the battery from the headset out and put it in the charging slot. It won’t charge at all. I have to keep messing with the cables and battery before it just decides to work. Both batteries can be affected by it. So, one of the most unique features for this headset, doesn’t work correctly. (And I checked to make sure they were inserted to the charge slot correctly and that there weren’t any obstructions).-The Equalizer settings on the stations are awful. The built in ones are bad and the custom settings are very bare bones. If you want to use an equalizer, you are better off downloading software.-Active Noise Cancelling option brings many issues that cheaper headphones don’t have. The popping problems I mentioned earlier are even worse with this setting on. And setting the sidetone to high on the station settings also causes problems. So that’s always fun to have extra stuff to try out only to have annoying problems that make them useless.-Using a wired connection fixes some of these issues, but manages to bring in it’s own set of problems. First off, if you use a wired connection directly into the station connected to your pc, the volume gets locked at max and suddenly nothing will lower it. Not the headphones, not the station, not even manually trying to change it on your pc works, the volume level goes all the way to 100 and never moves from there. The only way to change volume is in whatever program you have that has it’s own volume options. (So let’s say, you are watching a YouTube video and you connect your headphones to your station with a wire. The volume is locked at the highest and the only way to change that is in the YouTube video itself since it has it’s own volume slider you can adjust. Trying to use PC settings won’t work). Connecting a wire directly to your PC doesn’t have any problems, except a very glaring one. Since you aren’t connected to the station, none of the settings from there will work on the headset. You can’t have both a wired and wireless connection as a workaround. So in other words, the $300 you spent for all these cool features come with annoying issues. The only way to avoid them is to use a wired connection directly into your PC, and none of the bonuses that come with the station are available. If you want wireless gaming headphones, get something else, these are just awful. If you want Bluetooth headphones, you can get much cheaper ones without possible audio problems for cheaper. If you want regular gaming headphones, you can get much better ones at a cheaper price without all the problems this thing has.

    Very Positive First Impressions

I’ve only had these for about two days, but I wanted to write up some quick first impressions. The long and short of it is: good headphones with some minor, addressable comfort concerns.Cons:- As I just mentioned, the real primary negative to these headphones in my experience was the comfort of wearing them for long periods. Some users have trouble with the protruding bit of ANC housing on the inside of the cups. My ears are fairly flat to my skull, so I didn’t notice this issue at all. However, the material the ear cushions are made of, a sort of pleather material, does retain heat like an oven. After an hour or two, my ears were very warm and it got uncomfortable to continue wearing them. Using the headphones while cleaning up around the house was like wearing a sauna suit specifically on my ears. Fortunately, there are aftermarket replacement ear cushions that address both of these issues with larger pads made from more breathable fabric. It’s doesn’t feel great immediately swapping pieces off of $400 tech, but at least the problem can be solved. I bought a pair from Wicked Cushions and first impressions of those are great, but I’ve barely had a chance to really test them.-Magnetic side panels hiding the battery and USB-C port have me concerned about longevity. While I’m glad the side panels aren’t held on by cheap plastic clips that would inevitably break, the extremely sleek magnetic panels do feel a bit more form over function. The magnets inside the panels are just strong enough to hold the panels to the headset, and I haven’t had them fall off yet, but I am worried about that happening after months or years of removing them to swap the battery.-The noise cancellation isn’t absolute, but it’s good enough to minimize white noise like fans or air conditioning. This wasn’t really what I came to these headphones for. I am not particularly bothered by room noise. In fact, I do like a certain amount of situational awareness, and total noise cancellation makes me uneasy in the same way blindfolding myself with a VR headset does. This does a good enough job to obfuscate irritating noises like my neighbor’s fender rattling bass or the humming fan of my refrigerator without making me feel like a home invader finally has a chance to get the drop on me.Pros:-There’s a lot I love here. Firstly and most importantly, these sound great. I’m not an audio expert at all, but I am a video production professional and have worked closely with audio engineers and have some idea on the differences between high and low quality sounding headphones and sound systems. These are likely to satisfy anybody but the most demanding audiophiles out there.-They just work. I’m so sick of buying some expensive piece of tech and having to read a thousand Reddit posts just to figure out how to make the item work with my particular setup. These are about as plug and play as expensive gear gets in 2024. I opened the box, plugged the base station into a USB port, turned on the headphones, set the audio output to the headphones on my PC, and that was all I needed to do to make them work. The base station gets its power via the USB, so you don’t even need to plug it into an electrical outlet. There’s obviously driver updates and free software that you can download to manually set equalizers and fiddle with settings (which I do think works well and suggest downloading), but all you absolutely need is a PC with a USB port and ears.-Two batteries with one always charging in the base station. This is ingenious. Seriously, whoever on the SteelSeries team who suggested this, give them a raise, a company car, and a nice corner office with a good view. It’s such a simple idea that solves the number one inconvenience with rechargeable gear. As long as you place the spare battery in the base station, you’ll always be ready to go.-Simultaneously connect the headset to your PC or console and a Bluetooth device. I love to play video games and listen to podcasts. With these, I can play a game on PC (or console) and hear that audio on these headphones, while they’re also connected to my phone playing a podcast at the same time. One of the primary reasons I have always preferred a nice sound system to nice headphones is that a sound system lets me indulge my broken, millennial attention span. With these headphones, now I can split my attention between multiple stimuli while also shutting out the rest of the world.-Not gamer aesthetic. This is more of a general shoutout to SteelSeries. Thank you for having options for those of us who don’t want to die of embarrassment when we catch our reflection in the monitor. No gaudy, distracting RGB LEDs adorning every surface, no ridiculous cat ears mounted at the top. Just black headphones that go on your head and don’t call more attention to themselves than the media they’re playing.-The design is simple and functional. The mic coils inside the headphones when you do not need it. The buttons and nobs are all slightly raised so you can sense from feel what controls you’re touching while wearing them. Like I mentioned above, these do not distract from the media they’re playing. They’re a tool to make your experience more enjoyable and otherwise be as undetectable as possible. It’s a design direction that I find deeply appealing because it respects both the media it is playing and its users. Even the SteelSeries logo that is printed on the sides of the headset is barely visible without close inspection. I really cannot stress enough how much I appreciate what SteelSeries does in this regard. I have an old wired pair of headphones from SteelSeries as well, and they’ve only just been replaced by these.

    Good overall

I decided to shell out for a higher end headset, instead of my typical $100-$200 Logitech or Razer headsets, and I am not disappointed at all.SOUND QUALITY: Good sound, the quality is fantastic, and directional sound is spot on. Playing WWZ with my friends they’re usually calling out a special but don’t know where it is, and I can pinpoint it almost immediately just from the directional sound. Makes for much more immersive experience for gamers, and music/movies are spectacular as well, and the quality doesn’t diminish with volume (for those movies that go from „what did he say?“ to my face looks like it has a leaf blower aimed at it).THE MIC/SOUND CANCELLING: The mic actually picks my voice up, it helps when it’s 2 inches or less from my mouth, but even farther than that, people can still hear me. As for sound cancelling, in a word: spectacular. This is the first headset I have owned that when it turns off, my brain immediately goes „What just came on in the house?“ from the increase in noise, before I realize that’s just the ambient hum of my computer, the A/C, fridge, water heater, and everything else in a house that makes very subtle noise. But it isn’t disorienting nor does it muffle voices, I can still hear my girlfriend trying to sneak up on me, or if she calls me from another room clear as day.RANGE: It has decent range, I can go most anywhere in my house and it doesn’t have an issue except the kitchen, I have to have the left side facing the computer room from the kitchen, but I blame that on all the metal appliances in that room interfering with the signal. Surprisingly, the microwave running right next to me does not affect it, which means the electronics inside are well shielded.COMFORT: I have noticed the band that rests on top of my head is very slowly stretching, but it has several notches to adjust it tighter as it does, not a big issue for me. The ear pads are great, never really get that ache or sweat from pressure or lack of air.BATTERY: Usually lasts multiple days between charges while being used 2-6 hours a day. I actually like the fact that the battery is removable, it prevents the need for a cord to be attached to the headset if you forgot to charge it the night before. But if you like to charge it overnight, you can plug the headset in to charge the battery, or swap it into the HUD module and charge it. And it’s quick to swap the battery, takes me about 10 seconds in total; most of the time I can do it without my friends even noticing I’m gone during a conversation.OTHER FEATURES: The HUD module can have two computers plugged into the USB C inputs and you can actively switch between the two which I personally found very useful. You can even plug in via 3.5mm jack directly to the headset or to the HUD module; I don’t use this, but it’s a nice option to have. It’s nice to have a reference of sound and headset details (battery level, input, volume) for quick troubleshooting such as if everything suddenly goes silent, I can look at the HUD and see if it’s receiving sound or not and that will determine whether it’s a headset issue or a computer issue. These are all frivolous additions, but can tip a decision one way or another if your teetering between headsets. And if you’ve read everything up this point, you’re actually researching headsets and want to make an informed decision, which I hope this helps in that endeavor. For reference I have a slightly smaller than average head coming in at a 7.25 cap size (22 5/8″ circumference), my ears do stick out a good amount (if you’re worried about the depth of the ear pieces) and they barely touch the fabric covering the speakers if at all. If you have the dough, I think this headset or their newer versions are worth the investment.

Buckle up, this is a one year review.

Purchase Date: March 24th, 2023. Review Date: May 15th, 2024. I am a person who doesn’t care about cost when I am buying anything that is intended to be a long term product. I’m a firm believer in the old adage that you get what you pay for. I’ve loved SteelSeries for a very long time. For several years, before wireless mice were „reliable“ I would only play with a SteelSeries Sensei. I’ve probably owned five or six Sensei mice over the years. My favorite mechanical keyboard before we all started building customs was the SteelSeries 6Gv2 with Cherry MX Red Switches. I loved this keyboard so much that I purchased a second one to replace my office keyboard at the time. The number one reason I purchased this specific product wasn’t because it was a SteelSeries product. Traditionally I preferred Razer headsets after they purchased THX and started putting THX certification in all of their higher end headsets. The reason I chose this headset is because at the time of purchase it was the only gaming headset on the market that could be connected to two devices and I would not have to transfer a dongle between them. This was important because my PS5 is kept at my desk. Now, lets get down to the details on why I think this headset isn’t even worth $200, period. When I purchased this headset the MSRP and paid price, on Amazon was $349.99, plus 7% sales tax for Florida. That’s a total of $374.49. The out of the box experience was good, and I was impressed. After a couple of hours of gameplay I realized that the foam in the earcups is not dense enough, nor deep enough and the ANC nubs began putting pressure on the snug cartilage in both of my ears. Around the 3 hour mark I would begin experience harsh pain in the snugs of my ears, and after the 4th hour it would create tension headaches. This isn’t something you want to experience for a headset in the $300+ price bracket. This isn’t why I think this is a sub $200 headset though. We’ll get there, I promise, but I have a few more points to make first. With the issue of the pressure on the snug of my ears that would eventually lead to headaches I decided to order a pair of Wicked Cushions earcups here on Amazon. This was adding $31.95 (I got the 90’s black pattern) plus 7% sales tax, totaling $34.19 which brought our total for the headset up to $380.07 and $408.68 after tax to have a comfortable, okay to decent sounding headset that would work between my PC and my PS5 and only having to change audio channels on the DAC. But my gripes don’t end there. Unfortunately, the PC software for this headset is absolutely atrocious and is filled with gamer marketing buzz that pales in comparison to the horrific amount of bugs that truly plague this headset. Regardless of being on PC or PS5 I will have issues where the headset will reboot in random intervals. Sometimes it’s a two day gap, a two hour gap, sometimes it’s a 5 minute gap. When you’re playing something competitive where team communication is critical it can be detrimental for you, and your team where seven to ten seconds of audio blackout can be the catalyst to a catastrophic event and cost you or your team the game. The software asks you setup a default audio output configuration when setting up the software, but it doesn’t stick, ever. Every single time my computer turns on, whether my headset is turned on beforehand or not it will route audio to any other audio source except the one I told it to when setting everything up that first time, my headset, the place you would want it to go, because you purchased a headset. That seems like the place you want your audio routed, right? The audio output source is so random, sometimes it’s my desktop speakers that are connected to my PC’s rear IO 3.5mm jacks. Sometimes it’s the internal speakers in one of my displays. Sometimes it will even route the audio to the 3.5mm jack on my XLR microphone. There is no rhyme, reason or explanation for this. For some reason, it will never route the audio at launch to the one thing I told it to use as the default audio output. I’ve seen other people complaining about these issues on Reddit countless times. From what I have seen in Reddit posts, SteelSeries said they would address this in a software or firmware update like 2 years ago, but it looks like they didn’t. Another strange software issue I’ve had, and it happened for a third time yesterday and made me feel like I should write this review. This issue is that sometimes the software won’t even recognize that the headset is paired to the DAC and the GG software won’t list the headset in the drop down menu’s options. Windows will notice it, and if you switch the Windows audio to the headset from the system tray the SteelSeries GG software have everything but an aneurism because Windows is not set to the SteelSeries GG software. If you looked at this as $200 for a less than mediocre experience for an okay to good sounding wireless PC headset and $200 for a PS5 headset I guess I could say it’s not that bad for the price if the software wasn’t a horrible mess. But who want’s to pay that kind of money for something that has so many software problems on PC? But for the price of $349.99 you could buy the PlayStation Pulse 3D headset for $99.99, and for your PC you could pick up a Fosi Audio Q4 USB Dac Amp for $69.99 and a pair of BeyerDynamic DT 990 Pro, or DT 770 Pro headphones for $169.99, depending if you want open back or closed back headphones, totaling $339.97 before tax to save yourself $10 before tax to buy a game on Steam during a sale, and have a better audio experience with both platforms because these don’t support 3D Sound on PS5, and the BeyerDynamic with Fosi Audio Q4 combo will give you an exponentially better audio experience. Now that all of this is said, if you are solely looking for a gaming headset for PC only and wireless is a necessity, and you’re in that $300+ bracket, I would probably just get the Audeze Maxwell Wireless. People seem to be saying really good things about it, and it’s MSRP is $50 less than this overprice garbage. /rant

Fine upgrade but weird changes made from the original Pro Wireless

After the Nova Pro Wireless came out, I got excited. I’ve primarily used Steelseries headsets since the Arctis 7 first came out. When the pro wireless came out, I preordered and the left speaker channel died a week outside of the warranty window. I love these so much though that I bought another set. Then the Nova Pro Wireless promised noise cancellation and a few other goodies. I bought a pair when they dropped and didn’t like the way they felt on my head. I returned them and about a year later, grabbed them again and enjoyed using them for the last year or so again. This time I made it a point to get different ear cups since that was (maybe still is) a pain point of this headset and I mean that in a literal sense. I’ve seen posts that Steelseries has changed this though. So, as my title states, I don’t understand one thing and that’s why I need the software continually running to use the game/chat function when the original Arctis line didn’t. It simply setup two audio sources in Windows and aside from firmware updates, I didn’t need Engine/GG running. Now I understand GG has more audio sources, noise cancellation, etc. But I’m not a streamer so I don’t need a game, chat, aux, and media source, the noise cancellation is meh at best, and there’s no way to set the screen on the DAC to turn off after a minute like the previous Pro headset. So my screen has burn in, which isn’t the end of the world, but leaves me more disappointed that I bought this a second time and still have regrets about these things.I’ve switched back to the original Pro Wireless and see that it’s going to a very fair price right now on Amazon and have ordered a few more pairs before they’re officially gone for good.If you haven’t had an Arctis headset before, this is a great starting point. But it’s become overly „engineered“ with the practically mandatory software use. I’m sure this is for analytics, which I personally don’t mind since I do all my important work on my laptop, but this seems very unnecessary. Especially considering the use of the GG software just allows any headset to use the same functions, minus noise cancellation, which may actually be built into the headset. So for almost 300 dollars, why not just grab a Corsair Virtuoso XT? You forgo the battery swap, but the battery lasts long enough to throw it on a charger at the end of a night or two of use.I will note, the battery life is great and the hotswap function works well, but you have to do the battery change in a second or two or you have to manually turn it back on (not a deal breaker)Would I buy this headset for a third time…. Probably not honestly. If it were to hit a $200-225 USD price point (not on sale), absolutely, they would destroy the competition. But I’ll throw this into storage for now.
