4.0 out of 5 stars Software holding it back
This is the best Robotic vacuum I’ve ever owned that being said the software is not worthy of its greatness. Example; if you have to fix an entanglement or such when you put it back down it goes into calibration mode wondering around for 5-10 minutes before it gets back to where it was. 8 out of 10 times it Will wonder off as far as it possibly can and even then, It may or may not resume were it left off. The other problem I had with it was mapping, opened all doors to rooms on single floor made sure there were no objects or obstacles anywhere and it still missed 4 rooms. In conclusion I would still buy this unit I love the base unit and the robot but the software needs help.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good device, but not smart enough. Worth the money.
I’ve been using this device for about a week. The first impression is very good: it does not bump as a psycho here or there, it has a logic in it and it _does_ collect dust/trash/pollen.Okay, Q&A:** Does it do its direct job, i.e. does it clean carpet/floor?Yes, it does. I empty its box every day, what makes me think it works. What I like is that it has very fine filters that catch tiny particles, and – believe it or not – my kid’s allergy has been reduced a lot!** Is it noisy? No, actually, it’s not. I can talk normally, but would not like it working while sleeping or reading.** How long the battery lasts?About 1.5-2 hours. After that this buddy goes to the charger.** And does it find it?Yes, normally does.** Why just 4 stars?Because it is stupid enough and sometimes may stuck in a chair: aaaargh, 4 obstacles, enemy within, panic mode, shut down. No, seriously, developers have to do something with this use case.** Does it clean well? Can you set up cleaning time?Well, I did not test it by dropping stuff around. But traces tell me it works pretty good + I don’t see any debris around which is good. I set it to 4 pm, so it works just before I return home.** Does it support smart house apps?Yes, it can be manage online via smartphone.** Is it hard to use?I’ll be honest: I haven’t read the manual. It’s so easy to run, so I read only ‚quick start‘ manual, 1 page brochure.** Is it hard to clean? It takes about 2 minutes to clean up the tank, filters and the brush. The special tool is included.** Would you buy it again?Hard question. It’s definitely worth the money. I like the effect of it. But probably I would put a bit (100-200) more if I had a choice, but market offers really smart devices for about 1000. Ultimately – yes. I would buy it again.I will update this review if a firmware update makes it smarter or if I completely get disappointed with it

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT MACHINE BUT YOU NEED TO MAINTAIN IT TO FUNCTION PROPERLY AND ACTUALLY „LEARNS“
I bought this machine and returned it. After having a series of Roombas, I was used to vacuums which required little maintenance. However, having a disabled husband, I needed one which could mop without all the difficulties experienced with other machines. Roomba simply does not have a machine comparable to this one, otherwise I would have purchased it.I bought another one and kept it longer. What I discovered is this:1. The machine operates better with time. I takes this device time to master the complete picture of your house. The one now does this – but I have had it for two months. IT WORKS PERFECTLY NOW – EVEN STRAIGHT LINES2. YOU MUST MAINTAIN IT – if you do not – it WILL NOT FUNCTON AND WILL HAVE GLITCHES. Once you change the filters, clean up the debris, change the brush provided and mop pads, it will go back to prime operational mode.3. IT LEARNS!!! Yes, AI has arrived. This machine will „FIND ME“ when it needs to be cleaned. I have NEVER seen this in any other of my robots. However, I believe it learns and is „learning“ with more time. The machine was not working properly. However, I noticed every time it had an „issue“ it would leave its base and locate me (I think by the sound of my voice). And BTW – AI gurus – you might want to check this out – this could be part of the „unexpected“ consequences of AI they have been referring. There is NO program I know or setting which has the device try to locate you once it is in distress. Very strange indeed.I AM GLAD I BOUGHT IT AND STUCK IT OUT. IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY NOW BUT YOU NEED TO „TRAIN“ IT AND USE IT FOR A MONTH OR TWO FOR IT TO LEARN ABOUT YOUR HOUSE.

4.0 out of 5 stars Overall decent product.
Ok. So, I’ve have the DBot for 2 months and had time to oberve enough for an accurate and fair review. First and foremost, I would like to say this is a very solid product that does a surprisingly good job I’m picking up debris off of tile and carpet. Assembly and programming is very simple and easy, and replacement parts such as brush heads and filters are cheap and easily accessible on Amazon. This product can be programmed to vacuum only when you ask it to were set up on a schedule like I have where it vacuums every other day while I am getting ready for work.Pros: this little guy fits directly under my couch no problem cleaning the tile floor two respectable level at a glance. The reservoir for debris within the device is easy to remove and dump as well as filter maintenance being easily accessible. Does a surprisingly good job transitioning from tile do carpet and vice versa. Also compatible with Alexa oh, so if you do not have a schedule set up you can simply say “ Alexa, start the vacuum.“ And the way it goes. Watch for sales. I got mine it’s a deal of the day and saved over $100 off MSRP, and I feel that it’s well worth it.Cons: although it works with Alexa this is not a smart device. Meaning that there is no mapping feature on this particular device and it wanders around the house aimlessly in random patterns taking it substantially longer to clean then I feel it really should. Also if there is anything left or dropped in the floor such as the towel I clean my dog’s Paws with when we come in from a walk the deebot will get stuck and you’ll come home to it beeping worked with a dead battery. If you decide to stop the cycle early because it is randomly wandering around the house, again it is not a smart device and does not do very well finding its docking station. So you may have to deal with picking the thing up and putting it on the docking station or just letting it wander around at a lower power bumping into the walls and chairs until it finally figures out where home is, also providing the opportunity to get stuck. And this is the reason for me starting to cycle while I’m still home oh, so I don’t come home to a dirty floor and a a dead battery in my Robot vacuum because it’s stuck on top of something. Don’t get me wrong the getting stuck thing is fairly rare and once you figure out what items will cause this issue it’s fairly easy to make sure they’re not around before it starts. this may be inconvenient timing but the app is already transitioned once in the last 2 months making the app I’m currently using incompatible with the device so I have to go through set up all over again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great help for this busy mom
This is my first robotic sweeper. I’ve had it for three months now, and run it at least once a day. We live in a three adult, two kid, one dog house and I work full time, plus a part time job, as well as homeschool my daughter. BUSY. No time for sweeping and vacuuming. I was getting tired of all of the piles of dog hair along the baseboards of our 1600 sq. ft. tile and area rug home so I purchased this as a birthday present to myself. I am SO glad I did.Pros: Deebot is great at picking up dog hair and dust from the the hard floors. He’s also great at picking up larger scraps and particles from the area rugs. I empty the bin after every run, and it is always half to completely full, every day.The battery lasts long enough to sweep about half of the house. I have it set to clean the common areas during our sleeping hours, and during the day I let it loose in the bedrooms. Those areas are separated by a mounted baby gate, so it works perfectly with our set up.It forces me to keep my house picked up. That doesn’t come naturally. But knowing that it is going to come on every night is motivating. I don’t want to be woken up to beeping because it ate something it shouldn’t have.Cons: The timer is not too consistent. If I change the time I want it to come on, it doesn’t register right away. I usually have to turn the vacuum off at the switch, take the batteries out of the remote, reinsert batteries and reset the time and timer. It is a pain. I haven’t figured out the problem yet.I can’t get it to work with our wifi. I haven’t tried too hard because the remote does all of the same things as the app, but it might be a problem for some. One other thing. One night a left a covered tumbler of water on the floor by the couch. When Deebot came on, he knocked over the tumbler and sucked up all of the water over the course of his shift. I woke up to Deebot sitting in a puddle. I resigned myself to the fact that I screwed up and would have to replace him, but decided to try to dry him out. I took out the brushes and dust bin and left him in the laundry room for 36 hours. When he seemed to have no more water seeping from his seams, I reassembled and started him up. Much to my surprise, he performed as if the water incident has never happened. I don’t expect that would be the case every time and I am very careful to keep my tumbler off of the floor now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Winky the Vaccum Elf
Winky has been a great purchase so far (ordered on prime day 2018). She works with the remote, phone app, and Alexa just fine. With Alexa you can only give three directions- to start cleaning, stop cleaning, or return to the charger, so you’ll want to use the remote or app if you want any special settings such as spot clean or edge clean. Winky and Alexa and the phone app were easy to set up, and I like that you can set a cleaning schedule at a certain time of day. A word of caution- we let a young child play with the remote and that night Winky performed what we thought was an unauthorized cleaning at midnight! I checked the app on my phone and it said the only scheduled cleaning was at 10 am like I had set, but when I looked at the remote there was a different cleaning set for midnight. It was easy enough to undo on the remote and Winky has slept through the night ever since, but just a heads up that the app and remote do not sync with each other apparently. And it is easy to accidentally set a cleaning on the remote if a kid randomly pushes buttons. Winky is fairly quiet (you can easily talk or watch tv over her noise), but the middle of the night cleaning doesn’t work for us because she does loudly beep when she starts cleaning. If she gets stuck (which has only happened a few times), she will beep as well. The beeping woke us up so we decided ideally we will have her clean while we are at work. On auto clean she moves in a random pattern around the house. She will either avoid edges or bump into them and turn away from them, so if you want the edges of a room cleaned you have to do that separately using the app or remote. She does miss spots due to her random nature, but if you set her to clean daily I feel overall the floor is very nice because she’ll get spots one day that she missed a different day. The spot clean makes her go in ever widening circles and seems fairly effective. We have not needed to use the max suction yet- the regular setting seems to do quite well. We don’t have stairs, and she clears the transitions between our rooms just fine and one is fairly tall. Our flooring is mostly laminate, tile, and very thin carpet and thin rugs. We had two rugs with fringe that Winky destroyed, but after purchasing a couple cheap Winky friendly rugs there have been no issues. Our carpet is blue and our rugs are mostly shades of brown and she has no problems with them. I wasn’t sure if she could handle the bathroom rugs which were the common shag style so I replaced them with cheap memory foam rugs. I watched her carefully her first few cleanings so we could Winky proof our house (she does not deal well with cords, and can sometimes shove toys left on my daughter’s floor), but now I feel very good letting her clean whether we are home or not. She has been able to find her charger independently almost every cleaning, even when she was several rooms away. Our house is around 1500 sq feet and she tends to wander around for almost 2 hours a day. The way I see it, if she lasts at least a year (and there is a 1 year warranty), she will cost less than 50 cents a day. Our floors have never been cleaner. My only regret is I later found out this company makes one that also mops too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Updated: Frustrating experience resolved by customer service
Update: Ecovacs did send me a brand new replacement vacuum (N79S), which is more than I was asking for. Again, I was never asking for a new replacement, as I readily admitted to them that the original device was past the one-year warranty period and that I was willing to pay for whatever replacement parts or repairs that were needed. However, I was frustrated that a device I had paid over $200 for that broke two months after the warranty period had no other remedy whatsoever. I am leaving the rest of my review up for reference, as it was still a problem that they had no other repair options for out-of-warranty devices, and the customer service experience was frustrating, because each agent did not seem to review the case history before responding — until the agent Em J. responded. S/he was very apologetic and went above and beyond to make things right by sending me a replacement, so I do appreciate that. I understand Ecovacs are building a repair center. I hope that gets built soon, because they are good little vacuums, and I would like to continue to buy and use their products. I had even bought one for my parents. Credit to Em J. for making things right.— Original review —This has been one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I’ve ever had. The Deebot broke two months after the warranty period ended, and after exhausting all troubleshooting steps, I was told the item is “defective,” and there is nothing else they can do for me but to keep it because they MIGHT open a repair center one day (as if I believe that). After expressing my frustrations about this, they offered to then do the replacement anyways, but after I sent them the information and packed up the product, they responded that they couldn’t replace it because it is out of warranty. This is what dealing with ECOVACS support is like. Each response you get is from a different rep and is like starting back at square one, and none of them read the previous responses on this case. They can’t be bothered to take 5-10 minutes to read the case history, because they simply don’t care. This is also evident in the fact that they sell a $200+ device (cheaper now) that is designed to break right after the warranty period ends, and then at point, there’s nothing more they can do for the customer. After many support interactions, I had already done all the troubleshooting, already established that the unit is out of warranty, and expressed my disappointment at their lack of options for a $200+ device that breaks right after the warranty period ends. Yet, they kept going in circles about this warranty replacement, which I never asked for in the first place! All I asked for was help troubleshooting it, then when those steps were exhausted, I expressed frustration that there was nothing else that could be done since it was out of warranty. I just wanted to fix the thing I paid for, because I expected it to last longer than ONE YEAR, and I was willing to pay for parts or repairs. They were the ones who offered me the warranty replacement for my out-of-warranty device, and as frustrated as I was with the company, I decided to take them up on it, because it’s money, and again, I had expected the damn thing to last longer than a year and two months. But the next person who got my information for the replacement didn’t read back on the thread (just like everyone else at Ecovacs I’ve interacted with), and gave me the same scripted response that they can’t replace it because it’s out of warranty. Again. Can you imagine how frustrating this is? You know the character Dory from Finding Nemo and Finding Dory? Interacting with Ecovacs support is like talking to Dory, the difference of course being that Ecovacs has the case history right there that any of them could read and then give a proper, informed response. But they choose not to. And the most logical explanation as to why they choose not to give their customers proper, informed responses is that they simply don’t care about their customers. And that is the hard truth about who ECOVACS is. They are a company who jumped into the robot vacuum market behind the early success of iRobot and tried to provide a cheaper alternative for consumers, found success in the Amazon crowd, but in order to reach that price point, they sacrificed quality materials, they didn’t plan for any repair options for their customers, and they went bare minimum on their support department. The product is designed to last just beyond the warranty period, which minimizes the amount of replacements they will have to do, because that is all they can do — they are not set up for repairs, only replacements. And they must not pay their support staff very much, who can’t be bothered to read back past the most recent reply. It’s just a pathetic business model. Not that I expect this company, whose primary purpose is cleaning my floors, to change the world. But at least be decent. Don’t rip off your customers. This company does the bare minimum in every aspect.I guess you get what you pay for with robot vacuums, like everything else. If you want a “cheap” robot vacuum, they’ve got it, but when it breaks after a year, you’re out of luck, and their support team won’t be any help. I wish I would have spent a little more and bought a better brand with better repair and support options.

5.0 out of 5 stars Completely worth it – a little dumb sometimes – but aren’t we all.
I read somewhere that the DN79S is the same thing as the DN622.11. First, I hate writing reviews so the fact that I’m writing this says something. We bought it about 6-7 months ago? And after the first few days we said if this thing only lasts us half a year, it would have cost us about $1 a day and we asked ourselves if it was worth it. Completely! and we normally wouldn’t say that. We figured we would run it everyday for the first week and then figured we’d only run it every other day or every third day after that. Were we wrong! We run it every day – plus often spot clean around the island counter because our kids are messy eaters. We have a boxer and didn’t even think it shed that much. We were wrong again. My Honey empties the Deebot everyday and he says he’s „disgusted“ with what a good job it does. „It gives you low self esteem.“ Low self esteem aside, we are very happy with it.We read a funny review of this when we bought it in the spring saying the Deebot is great but it is sometimes dumb. Sometimes it takes more than 5 minutes for the unit to find the docking station. Sometimes it’s within 10 feet of the docking station and it starts to veer off somewhere else. It gets caught on cords, strings, backpack straps, shoelaces, and paper towels – but we are really at fault for that. We have a small powder room and sometimes it gets stuck behind the toilet.Installing the App was simple enough for our then 9 year old to do it for us. (Though that doesn’t speak to whether we could have done it ourselves or not.) You can change the cleaning schedule via the App – we turned it off while we were at the beach. You can set it to run every day or whatever days you want. You can have multiple cleaning schedules. You can turn it on manually and steer it with the remote. For some reason, i’s hugely gratifying to steer it to clean a small area instead of getting out the dust pan and brush. It has a room cleaning feature though we never bothered to learn how to do it. (I’ll ask my 10 year old to set it up one of these days) It has an edging feature to go around the room and it remembers eventually where all the permanent walls and furniture is. It also seems to sense when there is an obstacle in front of it but we’re not sure because it has such a RANDOM cleaning pattern. If there is an actual pattern or algorithm, we haven’t figure it out yet. But it gets the job done. (98% of it anyway) If you at some point don’t just stand there and watch it clean for awhile, then you’re a better person than we are. I am sometimes mesmerized by it.We thought the dog would go crazy around it but he just ignores it. He’s a 75 Lbs dog that has stepped on it accidentally a number of times and SirCleansALot (that’s what our daughter named it) doesn’t seem worse for the wear.It has a standard and a maximum vacuum setting but we only run it on the standard suction. (Think how low our self esteem would be on the maximum setting). It doesn’t suck up our dog’s food on the standard settings sometimes – but probably because the pieces are too big. Both filters and brushes can all be replaced – the App has an indicator that lets you know about when the items should be replaced but use your good judgement and then you can reset the reminder once you’ve replaced the items. It’s most economical to buy the packages that has everything. The Deebot really works best for people who have all one flooring like hardwood or vinyl planks or tile, etc. We also have low weave area rugs at all three of our doors and it has no problems with them. The noise seems loud when it starts but it quickly becomes background noise. We can’t use it at night because I’m a light sleeper. The run noise itself doesn’t bother me but the beeping when it turns on and when it docks is really loud and wakes me up because we live in an open concept house.Totally worth it. And if it isn’t worth it to you, return it – but it’s worth giving it a try. It really keeps our floors so much cleaner. I haven’t really brought out the broom since we bought this. It’s kind of like having a maid come to you house and sweeping/vacuuming your floors every day. (I only gave a 4 for deep cleaning because we don’t have plush rugs so we don’t know.)

4.0 out of 5 stars Yup, you NEED one!
After 8+ months with DeeBot I’ve seen enough to write a review.Overall, I love my DeeBot.I hate vacuuming but I love walking barefoot on a freshly vacuumed carpet and thanks to DeeBot, I get to do that every morning! It takes ten seconds to dump the bin and get DeeBot ready to go again. We have two cats so there used to be hair and litter everywhere but with DeeBot running every night you’d never know the cats and I are constantly making messes. It does all 4 rooms and a small hallway and most nights finds its way back onto its charger. It even manages to navigate the dining room under the table and all 6 chairs with random shoes and boxes to contend with as well. Only once have I found it under the table in the morning, I guess it couldn’t find it’s way out.Speaking of getting stuck, I have had to strategically place boxes and shoes around the cat tree because DeeBot was getting stuck on the edge of the plywood base every night. You also have to make sure there isn’t anything on the floor for it to get hung up on. Cellphone cords and socks will stop DeeBot in its tracks. I’ve found it on its charger in the morning with a paper towel hanging out the back like someone who walked out of a bathroom with a tail of tp on their shoe.Running it every night for 6 months I have learned the following things:-It will take it a couple of weeks to get the layer of hidden dirt (cobwebs and cat hair, in my case) off of everything, especially the places your regular vacuum couldn’t reach (under dining room cabinets), but then you will start to find very little in the bin.-Even with 2 cats and 2 humans DeeBot can go several days without having to empty the bin (I had to empty it every morning the first week or two)-If you have cats you will need to take the filter apart and clean it regularly. I clean mine at least once a week because of the cat litter. Just take apart the 3 pieces of the filter and tap them on something outside to get the dust out.-If you have long hair you will need to take the main brush out about once a week the get the hair off it.-After 8+ months of running nightly, DeeBot is still using the original brushes and filters with no issues. The consumables usage says I still have 20% life left on the side brushes, 65% on the main brush and 25% on the filters. From the looks of everything, I should be able to hit reset and get at least another cycle out of this set of consumables.-Be sure to check for obstacles before running DeeBot, it WILL find them! It’s no fun waking up at 3 in the morning because DeeBot managed to get on top of the cats food plate (a small saucer) and you hear it riding its porcelain sled around the tile floor in the kitchen.I own an irobot roomba that has spent most of the past ten years sitting in a closet. The one feature it had that DeeBot doesn’t is virtual walls. Little battery operated boxes that would act as a wall so you could keep the roomba in a room or area without walls or doors. But that one wasnt self charging, total game changer! The roomba would run until its battery was dead, so it was always a chore to find and then it had to be plugged back into its charger manually. The next step is self emptying (and I’ve seen that one advertised) DeeBot does at least as good a job cleaning as the roomba did with way more features (ten year newer technology) .Overall, I love my DeeBot. It almost always makes it home to its charger. It is low maintenance, ten seconds to dump the bin and 3 minutes to clean the filters and main brush.Honestly, the biggest negative with DeeBot is operator error! Most of the time when it gets stuck, it is because I left something on the floor for it to get hung up on.Lastly, don’t throw away your old vacuum, it probably has more suction and a stronger beater brush so an occasional run around the house with it will yeild a deeper cleaning of carpets and there are places (corners, under some furniture, etc.) That DeeBot can’t get to.Overall, my DeeBot was a great purchase and I would absolutely get another one (especially when they come out with a self emptying waste bin) or recommend it to everyone. I have a friend that has poked fun at me for the robot vacuum since I got it. Last month he came to visit for a week and by the time he left he was talking about getting one… they are just so darn convenient!

5.0 out of 5 stars Deetbot Slays Better Than Beyoncé!
I did my research. I learned that the Deetbot was the best robo vacuum for your money. It is amazing! We have a long haired weenie dog and two cats. I have a Shark pet vacuum, which is great, but I am not the best housewife. We have vinyl plank flooring and big area rugs. Large dust bunnies lurk in my corners. In an effort to slay the dust bunnies, I bought this vacuum. When you take him out of the box, you need to fully charge him on his base. It took ours about 5 hours. He has several cleaning options: auto clean, single room clean, spot cleaning, and edging. We decided to first do a deep single room clean for all of our rooms. We let him clean the living room first. The living room has a pet door, so it is a high traffic area. Deetbot can run up to approximately 2 hours without stopping. We let him clean the room for the entire time. I did pause him to check the dustbin, because I was curious. It packs the debris so tightly that it is able to suck up a large load. I was amazed with how much it picked up! You may want to pause him (via the remote) and dump it a few times just so it has more space in the bin. When Deetbot is finished, he returns to his home base to recharge. You will want to dump the dust bin after each use. Deetbot comes with a filter that you can wash by hand. We did our whole house without having to wash the filter. I did wash it at the end just to test it. It is a fine plastic mesh. I ran it under hot water, dried it, and put it back in the Deetbot.Since we had so much pet hair, we let it deep clean single rooms twice. Wow! So much pet hair and dirt. My floors and rugs are really clean! I can feel the difference when I walk on the floor and the rugs.Deetbot’s sensors learn your room and remembers obstacles so it doesn’t keep running into chair legs, coffee tables, etc. It forgets when you turn it turn it off or charge it, so if you move furniture it isn’t a problem. It just learns the room again. He can go under anything that is 3 inches high, so he gets all the grossness under your sofa, chairs, and bed.Deetbot easily climbs on top of rugs and doesn’t get stuck. If you have a rug with raggedy decorative edges, it might try to suck them up. I would take those rugs up or tuck the edges under the rug.Deetbot cleans using an algorithm. He does not run in a straight path when cleaning on auto or single room mode. However, he uses the algorithm to clean every spot in the room. When you use the edger cleaning, he does make a straight line around your room. He is able to move around obstacles to move back to the edges. He knows which areas he couldn’t get because of the obstacles, and makes a valiant effort to maneuver behind or beside the obstacles to clean the edges. In spot cleaning mode, Deetbot makes a 3 minute growing spiral path in the area you need cleaning (like in a high traffic area or if you spilled catnip). He comes with a remote that allows you to choose the function you want. Once you push the button, he is raring to go! You can set multiple cleaning times with the remote, so if you want him to clean every night at 2 am, he will do it! The only down side is that if you turn him off, you have to reprogram him again (not a big deal, it is really simple).Deetbot is very quiet. My pets were initially skeptical of Deetbot, but they quickly learned he was not a threat. Now they ignore him. If he comes near your pet, Deetbot will see him as an obstacle and go another way. My dad’s cat likes to stalk Deetbot for sport, and is disappointed when Deetbot maneuvers around him.Deetbot comes with an app you can use, but it is complicated and unnecessary. Deetbot’s remote control is sufficient.I used it in my elderly parents house, who have four cats. My mom says Deetbot vacuums better than her biweekly maid (who happens to LOVE vacuuming).I love this robot. My friend has a Roomba, but I think Deetbot does a much better job. I would recommend it to anyone! If you have any questions, I am happy to answer them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good robot good customer service
Ecovacs customer service is excellent, I had to send my vacuum cleaner back because something went out of wack and their customer service is very great. Sent me a whole new vacuum. It keeps up with our 3 dogs and our whole house is wood floors doesn’t deep clean but definitely helps with the dust and dog hair.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great customer service
A tale of two vacuums.. When it was new, it was just short of great. After about five months, the Deebot X2 went bananas.. getting stuck everywhere, getting lost, and the noise quadrupled in decibels. The unit has a one year warranty so I reached out to customer service and was very pleased with their service. I had to take a few videos and go through the troubleshooting basics song and dance but in the end, they honored their warranty and shipped me a completely new unit. You’ll have to ship your old unit back with their prepaid shipping label so I suggest saving the original box for the duration of the warranty period. I hope I just got a random lemon and that this one will last – time will tell.. but the new one sure is quiet and smooth!

Used a lot for 5 years. Battery finally going.. This was a great vacuum. My only complaint is I could never get it programmed to run. I’m going to miss it!

4.0 out of 5 stars So glad I finally got my robot
I will say this, I have been waiting to purchase a robot vacuum for YEARS. I was so excited to grab this during a black Friday sale. Overall, I really like the vacuum. It has really gotten a hang of my homes layout and seemingly finds it’s way around better (a little nervous about what is happening to all that data it is storing though!). There are a few reasons I haven’t given it a 5 star:1. I don’t have 6-8 feet of space on any wall in my home that is empty. We live in a pretty traditional 1950s New England home, and I doubt anyone in our neighborhood has that kind of stretch of empty wall. Certainly if you live in a big new construction in another part of the country- you probably have a large master or great room that might have that type of space. Because of that, we have about a 3′ clearance for the thing- which at the beginning caused issues, but has now resolved itself.2. This thing has a timer. And ours is set. We never set it, and we can’t get it off. I’ve cancelled the timer on the remote, on wifi, everywhere. We turn it off and on. Sometime around daylight savings time, the timer reset itself, adjusted and now goes off at 8 am vs. midnight. We always have to chase it around and hear it beeping because we forget about the timer and leave our kids‘ doors open (they have high pile area rugs) or its caught someplace because off it went by itself unsupervised. I wish I had the type of home that this thing could run itself over my floors while everyone was at school/work- but that just isn’t happening. I have two toddler so there is crap all over, always, and this thing can’t find its way out of paper bag (or from under my bed) enough because our home is small. We have to run this when we are home and nearby to help it along sometimes.Overall ,this is a hit. Especially with my 3 yr old who loves when the robot comes out to „chase him“. But, there are some limitations that are impacted by your space and the layout of your home. We don’t live in a cramped house, but at 1400 sq. feet it’s not huge and space is at a premium so we need to constantly supervise mrs. bebop (As we call her).I’ve heard of others say they have issues with the lasers/remote and we haven’t had that. The only issue we have with it navigating is around the black kick plate under our dishwasher. Because its solid black it thinks its a hole/other space and keeps hitting into it (thus why we have to supervise). At the end of the day, I guess this thing is average- but useful. I gave it 4 stars because I’m still so happy to have it in my life after wanting one for so long. And when you see that pile of dust and dirt in its little cubby – it’s so satisfying!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great addition to my cleaning routine
I am partially disabled and have a hard time pushing a heavy standard vacuum cleaner for extended periods of time. I looked into purchasing a robot vacuum cleaner to assist me with daily maintenance. I don’t plan to use this vacuum as my primary source for cleaning my floors, rather as a daily means of keeping the dirt/dust/pet hair to a minimum. We have a large house as well, so it wouldn’t make sense to use this as our sole machine.I received the bot today and so far I am quite impressed with it. It came mostly assembled. I only had to put on the bottom brushes which easily snap into place. The instructions in the manual were quite clear and I found the „quick start“ guide the most helpful with abbreviated instructions and pictures to just get the thing going (which I was super excited to do).It did have to charge for four hours before we could use it the first time. Once charged, it ran in auto mode for about 1.5 hours steady. At the end of the cleaning session, a large portion of my flooring was clean and the dust bin was totally full. We have 2 dogs, a cat, and four kids so no surprises there! It was very easy to remove the bin and dump the debris.PROS:-Size. Since it needs to be on, docked, and charging when not in use, I was a bit nervous about it being an eyesore and in the way. But it’s size and presence is not imposing.-Maneuverability. This bot easily transitioned across low pile rugs, hardwood, and tile.-Ease of programming. It’s super easy to operate and I had no problem with the App that works with it.-Oversight. I did have to go around and make sure everything that could cause it to malfunction was picked up, but other than that, it did its own thing.-Hard to reach places. This little vac got in places I never clean under like my couches and chairs.Cons:-Noise. It’s not loud, but its not exactly quiet. It makes a lot of noise bumping into things. I would not run this while my kids are trying to sleep.-Effectiveness. This is not like vacuuming for yourself. Not even close! (but I expected that) It doesn’t map out the space or strategically cover your floor plan. Its totally random. So since I have a large open floorpan, this will take several uses before it would come close to covering every square inch.-Speed. It moves slower over carpet and seems to drain the battery faster than on hard flooring. Conclusion:Overall, this is going to be a great addition to my household! I am pleased with the quality of construction, ease of use, and general effectiveness. I would not recommend this as a sole vacuuming machine to people who have a large or heavily trafficked home. I also would consider a more powerful model for extensively carpeted homes.

4.0 out of 5 stars When in Good Condition, a Pretty Great Helper
I had this robot for 2 months, then it started experiencing an issue where one of the two main side wheels didn’t seem to be connected to the motor anymore, so the robot constantly went in circles and got stuck a lot. Thankfully, after I posted my review, ECOVACS reached out to me, and I now have a replacement robot free of charge. So far it’s been working great! The good things about this robot are:- It picks up a TON of dirt/debris/dust/crumbs/etc. You will be disgusted yet amazed at how much it collects each and every time. There’s no way I could vacuum this much and in the spots it does, so this alone makes the robot worth it to me.- The battery lasts quite a while, so it usually covers a good area of the house while cleaning.- It’s pretty quiet, to the point where I don’t mind it being on during the day while working/etc.- It connects to your wifi and has an app. I always use the app to start its cleaning. You can even check the status of the robot while you’re out. If you don’t care about an app/wifi, it comes with a remote which does work well. I just don’t like having to keep track of another remote so I just use my phone.- It looks goodThe flaws I’ve observed so far from owning the N79S are:- Over time, the robot gets scratched up from bumping/scraping across things. This causes the sensors to not work as well it seems. I noticed a lot more bumping into objects after a month and a half, and this is with thorough constant cleaning of everything (removing the bumper and cleaning, removing the center front wheel and cleaning, replacing the brushes, replacing the filter, etc.) The new robot I have barely bumps into anything, as it slows down before hitting something and turns. Later on with my first robot, this stopped happening. Instead it just seemed to run blind, bumping into everything so it knew when to turn. – With that above flaw comes another related issue. My girlfriend gets annoyed during the day working from home, as the robot will constantly bump into her chair. She ends up just turning it off and leaving it there, so it doesn’t finish cleaning or at least get charged back up. I wish it had a button to „send home“ or something without having to use an app.- It is a pain to clean if it happens to run over any water/wet surface. Although, when I think about it, I’ve never vacuumed anything I knew was wet. So this is a new problem with robot vacuums in general. They either need to be able to detect water somehow, or be somewhat waterproof (kinda hard when the whole goal is to suck stuff up).- Sometimes has trouble finding it’s docking station, if it’s in another part of the house. There were times where I had to search under all of our beds/etc. to find it so I could place it back on the charger.

5.0 out of 5 stars My new best friend around the house
I don’t review products nearly as often as I should, but great products make me so happy, I just feel compelled to write a short review.First, I had an issue with the initial setup, and I think its just because I turned the unit on before I configured the wireless, so I called the customer support line and got someone within 90 seconds, wow. The woman was incredibly helpful, stepped me through the set up and away it went. I expressed some concerns about the unit getting lost and inquired about getting a second charger, in case. She said, no problem, we’ll send you another.Second; operation. Amazing. I sit around watching this thing go and I am amazed at how the algorithm navigates around chair legs and very tight spaces. I have two long-haired cats and with them, its impossible to keep the floors clean. It jumps up from bare floor to carpet and carpet onto rugs effortlessly. The App for the phone is just perfect, you can operate from work, which is what I do. Go off to work, set it in motion, despite a large first floor footprint, it finds itself back to the charger just about every time. About an hour or two before I head home from work, I schedule it to start again, or manually start it remotely and come home to a clean house. WOW. Battery life is more that enough to clean a 1500 square foot surface in one charge, about two hoursThird; quality. It does a surprisingly good job at cleaning. It picks up small dirt, hairs, everything. Does edges well and even cleans the chair feet better than expected. I have also very clean carpets and runs. The quality of the device is quite good, its not rugged by any means, but I don’t see any vulnerabilities making it prone to breakage. It hops up on my medium pile carpet and even hops up on rugs that are on the carpetFour; maintenance, well, I’ve only had it a couple of days, but the receptacle gets full easily. The filters are easy to clean, the roller brush is a little hard to clean, but I see four screws and I suspect I can just take the roller brush out and clean it more effectively that way. The entire receptacle, brushes and filters can easily be removed and washed.Lastly; downsides. There are few. The unit will get caught up in wires, so need to clear them. Also, I have a sliding glass door with a ridge, be sure to close those doors, it will get hung up. It will also get hung up on raised vents. I would like to see in a future firmware an alert for the receptacle being full, this is something it needs, an alert to tell you it needs to be emptied. Also, would be nice to get an alert if the unit get stuck on something, otherwise, it will try for a while and put itself on standby and there is no way to tell its not just back into its station, like an alert or text on your phone.June 2019 update: Still love it. This darn thing is still running strong. Don’t buy cheap supplies like brushes. The aftermarket side and main brushes are not good quality. Spend the money and buy the brand. Three times a day she runs without problem for almost the last year. Still going strong. Once again, would be nice to have a remote alert when she gets stuck or when the receptacle is full. Why not have firmware updates ???

4.0 out of 5 stars Warranty replacement is refurbished with other people’s hairs!
The media could not be loaded. I ordered one and liked it so much I ordered a second. I have hard wood floors with some larger area rugs throughout. It works very well on the hard wood floors. I have a dog and it picks up hair well. It’s pretty quiet, and runs for about an hour or more on a single charge which seems to take a few hours. So the battery life is good, and the charge time is reasonable. The app is simple to install and to work. The dirt is easy to dump, and the filters are easy to work with. I don’t know how this thing picks up so much dirt. I run it every day and every day it fills itself up! YUKOk, that was the good. Now for the bad. It doesn’t work well on thick carpet. The brushes get tangled up. Don’t try to watch it work. It goes in a random order that will drive you crazy thinking it missed a spot. Leave it be and let it work. It does a good job covering the entire area over time. Now the worst part…. After 4 months one of my units began making a noise as if a gear was stripped out. One of the spinning brushes seemed off track or something. I returned it, and they sent me a prepaid return label. So far so good. After their warehouse (in CA) received my return they shipped a replacement which I got several days later. The replacement I got was a refurbished unit! The box was a plain box, and it didn’t work. It kept beeping with a red error light flashing. I called and they told me to open the back and unplug the battery. When I did this the unit had someone else’s hairs in it! GROSS!!!!!!!! I called and they sent me a return label for this one. They promised to send me a new unit in return and to rush it to me. I sent that back 6 days ago and they still have not shipped my replacement.I’ve been without my unit for nearly a month. The warranty is only 12 months, and one month of my warranty has been used up in the return process. I’ve called twice, and only get associates that send e-mails sent to the shipping department and told to be patient.I got my expedited replacement after several days (not expedited), and it was another refurbished unit!!!! This one also had someone else’s hairs in it! Ecovacs lied to me!!!After over a month they finally sent me a new replacement unit that works. I really like these units, but when it fails don’t send me a dirty refurbished unit!I’m going to upload videos of my original unit, and my hairy replacement.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love our DeeBot
I love our DeeBot! We’ve had him for about two weeks now. I bought him primarily to clean our ground floor, which is mostly hardwood laminate with a large area rug and one room with carpet. There are several „modes“: Auto will just clean until it’s battery is low, Room is when it will go back and forth until it goes over a room once, Spot is when you put it on a pile of dirt and it will clean in a spiral motion outwards, Edge is when it will find a wall and only vacuum around the perimeter of a room. We have it set to Auto clean the ground floor every night. It takes about 4 hours to fully charge, and will vacuum for about 1.5 hours on Auto mode before getting low on batteries and returning to it’s dock. This seems to be plenty of time to get all of the downstairs of our 2,200 square foot 2 story house. The first time we used it, we hadn’t vacuumed in about two weeks. It did a fairly good job of getting most of the big things, but since this model does not map out the room and instead just randomly moves around based on some algorithm, there were some areas that it missed. HOWEVER, now that we have it set to clean every night, I am confident that it does actually clean our whole house over the course of a week, and many high traffic/problem areas every day. I have also brought it upstairs where it is 100% carpeted (besides the bathrooms), and it did a good job giving the carpets that „vacuumed“ look and getting all noticeable dirt and hair. The sensors on it to keep it falling down the stairs work great, although sometimes it is nervous to move from a carpeted room to a bathroom. It can, but I’ve seen it stop and turn around just as often as it continues into the bathroom. I think if you had really high or clunky floor dividers (if they came up off the ground more than a half inch), it may have trouble getting over it- though ours has managed to get over thicker wires, so maybe it would be fine! I think carpeted areas would still need a stronger vacuum once in awhile, but these aren’t meant to replace real vacuuming 100% anyway. I empty the canister about twice a week as we have a dog and cat who shed a lot. I think you are supposed to replace the filters every few months and the brushes a few times a year, and there are replacement kits you can also purchase on Amazon. You do have to set up the DeeBot for success. Every night before it goes off, I tidy up the fool to make sure there are no toys, shoes, or wires scattered on the floor. It will go around anything big (like my husband’s big boots), but it can get stuck on little things, like the cat toys. It will definitely get caught in wires, so we had to make some changes to elevate our wires. Considering it only takes us 5 minutes to throw anything on the floor into a closet or bin vs a half hour to vacuum ourselves, this is DEFINITELY worth the trade off for me. Plus, even if you do have some bulky stuff laying out for a few days, since you can schedule it to vacuum every day it will just get those spots when you do eventually move those items. It also vacuums under furniture, which is awesome.I am thinking of purchasing another one for the upstairs!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth EVERY penny
The media could not be loaded. I have went through so many robot vacuums. I was tired of replacing them every year because they decide to break or lose charge. I told myself I would treat myself with a really good one this time and I’m so happy I did! The things I love about the deboot robot vacuum.*It has a camera on it and maps the whole house. It can recognize what room it is in, what objects are on the floor so it can avoid dog poo or animals, and you can watch the live video as it cleans your house!*It mops and dries your hard surfaces after it vacuums and does an amazing job.*It gets everything off the floor, including dog hair. It deep vacuums and not just a quick surface clean.*It automatically empties the dirty water and the dirt and debris and then continues it’s cleaning cycle. It’s so easy to dump the dirty water and refill the clean water bucket.*It has plenty of charge to vacuum and mop the whole house and then automatically goes back to its station to charge.*It has voice commands. You just say „Okay YIKO“ and tell it to go vacuum the whole house or just the kitchen and it automatically goes and does what is asked.*The app is so user friendly. Virtually no setup. It automatically maps the house and recognizes which room is which. It knows the difference between carpet and hard floors.*It rarely ever gets stuck or tangled up on anything because it can sense where to go and what to avoid using AI and it’s camera system. It does a better job vacuuming than my husband does!I could go on and on about how amazing this robot vacuum is and can’t think of one negative. It’s absolutely worth every penny.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Years Later – a review.
I’ve now owned my Deebot Ecovacs N79 for coming up on 5 years. I live in a household of 4 adults, 2 dogs (one long hair), and a cat. The vacuum mostly operates in the dog occupied areas of the home. This vacuum is still going strong. I clean it regularly and replace brushes and filters as needed. I’ve had to replace the battery once a few years ago, and the new battery is running strong as well. This was my first/only robot vacuum purchase and honestly I did not expect much, in fact I expected the vacuum to last about a year. Needless to say I am very impressed with this vacuums durability and longevity. I have had no issues with it, other than the battery which is to be expected after many years of use.As far as the features, it connects fine with Alexa and still returns to base when it needs to charge. The vacuum still runs for well over an hour on a single charge.I would recommend this vacuum to anyone looking for a low cost but dependable robot vacuum.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth the cost
Okay, so it has been a few weeks since we have bought our vacuum who we affectionately refer to as “Mo”, (people who watched Wall-E will get it,) so I figured it’s time to post our review! The good stuff:+ Our floors are noticeably cleaner. We have hardwoods and Mo gets up ALL the pet hair (we have two cats and two dogs)+ Relatively quiet for its size. It’s still a vacuum, but it can run at night and I sleep straight through it.+Pretty user friendly. Easy to open and clean out the dust bin and troubleshoot using the manual provided.+ Able to program via an app or use a remote control. There are several “modes” so you can give the vacuum free reign to go anywhere or spot clean/edge clean. It’s super convenient to set him to turn on at specific times and on specific days. Currently we have him cleaning 3x a week at 8:00am.+ On that note, we were impressed by how well it can clean corners and edges considering its round shape.+ Mo can get under furniture as long as its not lower than three inches, which helps with cleaning under beds/hutches/dressers/etc.+ Mo has a battery sensor so that when his power runs low he will automatically return to his charging station to recharge. (See note on charging power in the negatives)+ Has a drop sensor to detect ledges and an object detection sensor to avoid bumping into furniture. We don’t have stairs so I’m not sure about the ledge sensor, but he mostly does a good job of not getting stuck or hitting things too hard.+ The app gives you “service life remaining” gauge to tell you when to replace vital parts in the vacuum based on your usage so you don’t need to keep track of it yourself.+ If Mo’s battery runs out or he disappears, the app has a “find” feature that will make the vacuum beep so you can easily find him.+ This has saved us so much time vacuuming/sweeping that it was really worth the cost for us. Would definitely recommend! The negatives:- On a continuous run on standard power (there is a max setting), the battery will last an hour. We have a small home (maybe 1,100 sq ft) so this works for us, but in a larger home he would have to recharge between uses.- When returning to the charging station, Mo sometimes gets “lost” because his WiFi sensor doesn’t seem to be that strong. Basically, the farther away he is from the station, the harder it will be for him to find it.- We primarily use the auto setting, which is basically random cleaning. This means Mo might get stuck in one room for the majority of the time he is on. You may need to change the settings or move the vacuum to clean specific areas.- Mo will also occasionally get stuck on cords/furniture/carpets, etc. Typically he is pretty good about not running into things, but you may need to clear certain things from the floor before you clean.- Not exactly a negative, but something to keep in mind— Mo has a small dust bin so we have to empty it every time we use it. They also recommend (especially for pet owners) that you clean the internal filter and brushes at least once a week.Apart from positives and negatives, we have had to troubleshoot various issues since we have owned the vacuum. Once we couldn’t get the vacuum to start and realized we accidentally turned off the power button. Since then we have made sure to keep the switch flipped to “on” even when charging. Another time we had to consult the manual to figure out there was an object stuck in one of the brushes (the vacuum will beep a certain number of times to indicate a specific problem). If the power to the charging station is cut off, the vacuum will immediately turn on and start running… which might be humorous during a power outing or if someone accidentally trips on the cord and pulls it out of the wall in the middle of the night. Hypothetically speaking, of course.Overall, I’d say getting a robot vacuum was worth it! So far we’re happy with the performance of the machine and would recommend it to others. 4.5/5 stars ⭐️

5.0 out of 5 stars My husband was right! This thing is AWESOME!
I have always been against the idea of a robot vacuum, laughing it off as some stupid gadget for bored rich people. Surely, a little disc of a machine would be no match for my two boys, who essentially manufacture crumbs, and my giant dog, who sheds enough fur to produce another large dog every other day. No, no, I’ll stick with my heavy duty Dyson, thank you. I need a real vacuum, not a toy. My husband tried to convince me otherwise on multiple occasions. He hated walking through the house in black socks, only to wind up with white fur “boots” by the time he reached his destination. Or walking barefoot and feeling the disgusting shards of last night’s dinner crumbling beneath his feet. As two full-time workers and parents, he understood that a human vacuuming every day was not in the realm of possibility and was convinced that a robot would solve our problems. On Prime Day, I saw this vacuum as one of the deals, read the reviews, and thought, “WTH, why not?” I’d give it to my husband as a surprise so that he could finally see that it wouldn’t work and would quit bringing it up. He was happier than I have ever seen him. He described it as the “best gift ever,” even going so far as to say, “Remember that time you got me the collapsible picnic table? This totally makes up for it.” Umm, that picnic table was an awesome gift that we use all the time, but whatever, another story for a different day. He immediately set it up, got it charged, and tested it out.Initially, its pattern seems rather erratic and inefficient, taking one random pass here and then rolling over to the other side of the house. But it somehow remembered where it had been and never took the same path twice. The floor ended up clean, but it took several hours. Over the last several weeks of using it, it has grown “smarter” and faster, much to my surprise. The only downside is that it doesn’t do carpets, but I knew that going in and it certainly tries if you accidently leave a door open.We run it every other day, usually after our boys go to bed around 8:00pm and by 10:00 the floor is clean. Here were my concerns and how they have been addressed:It will be too loud. It is quiet enough that we don’t have to worry about waking the boys up, much quieter than my beloved Dyson. It will scare the dog. The dog does not even remotely care about the robot, even though he is rather skittish around the Dyson. The robot vacuum, who I now lovingly refer to as Geoffrey, regularly vacuums underneath the dog as he stands, or even uses his sensors to vacuum the floor around him as he sleeps. It’s astounding. It will never be able to handle the amount of mess we produce. I don’t know how this is possible, but it does. We empty it right before we run it, which is very easy to do and it collects an amazing amount of fur and debris without any issues. It will knick up the walls and furniture, or knock things over. It is so completely gentle, it does not do any damage at all. It also does not knock over the dog’s water dish, which was a related concern. It will not get everything. Yes, it really does. It covers every single square inch of the downstairs and touches places I haven’t cleaned since we moved in.It will suck up a toy or curtains that touch the floor. Again, those sensors are amazing, it does not suck up anything it isn’t supposed to, but somehow still collects stray cheerios, bits of grass and dog food.It will get lost. Nope. it always finds the way back to its home.It will run out of charge before finishing the job. It can go for a solid 3 hours at least without a charge. We have a large downstairs, it takes about two hours and it doesn’t ever lose steam. It will turn against us and destroy us in our sleep. I’m relieved to say that, so far, this has not happened. Geoffrey seems to be really happy with us, and I believe he would do his best to resist a robot uprising. And so, I stand corrected. My husband was right. We definitely needed one of these. Our floors are so clean, it looks like we actually have our sh*t together. Our floors are so clean, my mother-in-law can pop over unexpectedly any time she wants. Okay, well, let’s not get crazy, but seriously, Geoffrey is the best. I want to get a whole team of robots now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Purchase Of My Life
I pretty much never write reviews but I just HAD to say this thing is AMAZING! It truly is the best purchase I’ve ever made. I got it on sale as a deal of the day – I paid $174 and got a 3gen Echo Dot with it. Worth every penny! Are there more expensive models that do a better job? Sure. But for a first time robot vacuum purchase, this thing is great. Does it clean in a random pattern? Yes. Does it miss a spot once in a while? Sure. But if you run it enough it gets virtually every square inch of your floors that isn’t a tiny nook in a corner. It goes under all my couches and along the baseboards in my kitchen.I have very old wood floors in a rental (so I can’t have them resealed myself) and sweeping them basically just pushes dirt around. No more! The first several times I ran this thing it picked up a terrifying amount of dirt. The best thing is it picks up all the tiny particles of dirt that sweeping NEVER did. I love being able to walk around barefoot again without feeling nasty floor dirt on my feet. I cannot speak to how it works on carpet as I don’t have any – but I would imagine this works best for wood/tile floors.Make sure you follow the directions for cleaning DEE BOT so you get the longest life out of it as possible. Dump the container after every use. Clean the outer filter 2x/week at least, and the inner filter 1x/week. Clean the hair out of the brushes on the bottom as needed. Sometimes it will eat things that make it freak out, just remove them from the brushes.I use my Echo Dots (I have several) to tell it to go clean and tell it to go home and charge, which is awesome. Sometimes I use the remote to direct it to clean up specific messes – which is WAY easier to do, siting on the couch watching TV, than getting the broom/dust pan out and sweeping. I use this the most for cat litter, which is picks up excellently. I have the app but don’t use it much, I don’t find it necessary with Alexa/the remote. You can set it on a cleaning schedule, but, I like to put all our chairs up before it runs, and I have to pick up all the cat toys. If it encounters a cat toy it usually tries to eat it and gets stuck, but it doesn’t ruin it or anything, just have to pull it out. It gets stuck on the curtains sometimes, and it kind of slid over a 5″ threshold into my office and cried for help. You do have to rescue it sometimes, but it’s so, so, so worth it. Also, it will just shut off if it gets stuck on something and you don’t respond to it’s cries for help. Our power went out in the middle of the night once and when it came back on it somehow activated DEE BOT. I came down to a bunch of stuff pulled off my coffee table and was like…..this is really odd. I found DEE BOT under my TV console tangled in a bunch of wires. It didn’t hurt anything and I was able to easily untangle it. I’m going to get some wood cut at Lowes and put it under the TV area so DEE BOT can’t reach the cords anymore – right now I’m using a mop to block the area. While this is a cheaper robot vacuum it is much better than a cheap one my friend bought. Hers races around her house crashing into walls – this one DOES NOT. It is very gentle and lightly bumps into things sometimes before turning. We have two light-weight bikes in our living room and it glides around them easily without knocking them over.Bonus: I have HORRIBLE allergies I take antihistamines for daily. I have a cat and I’m allergic to my cat. It picks up ALL dust/cat hair with ease and has dramatically improved my allergies. Why are you still reading this obscenely long review?? BUY IT!

4.0 out of 5 stars I have earned epic parenting award…….
The media could not be loaded. For convincing my kids that we should get a robot vacuum for a family gift this holiday!Meet Mo (Wall-E fans will understand).Mo has fully integrated in to our family like a charm; leaving me to wonder why the heck I waited so long to get him!My house has two dogs, two boys and myself that all have varying degrees of messiness and shedding. Mo has been able to keep up with us all….for the most part.I’m allergic to dogs so I really should vacuum twice a week but I am also dealing with a chronic illness so sometimes I don’t have the energy. Mo has reduced my need to vacuum to once every two weeks, mostly.I typically will pull everything away from the edges then open the app and run Mo on edge detail once a week. Mo is programmed to clean Monday through Friday just before everyone gets up. I give him the weekends off. We usually have to empty his collection container out twice a week. I also put chairs, bar stools, and anything else small (like floor baskets) up once week so he gets under those as well.Mo does a pretty decent job for the price. As you can see from the video, he is able to navigate my multiple surfaces well. He does a good job of getting under my furniture. He has eaten pencils, pipe cleaners, tons of dog hair, a Halo figurine, small bits of paper and sand. Although he and sand don’t always like each other. Occasionally he finds something “lost” and gets constipated. He also does not do well on bathroom carpets that are rubber backed or fringed and will beep annyloyingly loud until you rescue him or he dies. Surprisingly, he does not eat my curtains, which drape into the floor.I did find him napping in the kitchen one morning so I’m guessing he may not have set himself back on the charger the day before. My son turned him off when he was cleaning him out one day and that resets the scheduled programming. I definitely noticed it when he was not cleaning as scheduled.I personally cannot watch him because his random vacuuming drives my OCD brain crazy. My dogs also do not care for Mo. Especially when Mo gets in the room with them. My one dog was barking at Mo because he was cleaning her spot. Mo didn’t seem to notice but for the sake of my sanity, I made Mo go home. We’ve had him for a bit over a month and the only negative I have is that the consumables seem to wear down fast…. according to what the app says.I am glad we got him. He really fits right in to our family.6 month update: Mo is still going strong. Apparently we are dirtier than I thought. We give him a colonoscopy a few times a week and he keeps going. My floors are fairly clean considering there are 3 humans and two labs. I can now almost extend my vacuuming to every other week. I run him on edge duty on the weekend usually. No more dog fur dust balls, no more broken pencils, no more tiny scraps of paper (I have a slightly obsessed 9 year old with a paper cutting addiction), no more dirt. Heck, Mo even ate sand! Beach sand! Some things I noticed, Mo hates the bathroom rubber backed rugs and will scream until you save him from them (he gets stuck on them). He will forget his programming if you turn him off by accident. He will eat anything in his path but will loudly complain if he doesn’t like it, for example, a cell phone charger or a sock. His side brushes wear down fast. (Bought a genetic replacement kit).Mo has definitely helped curb the “I leave my legos out everywhere so mom can step on them and swear loudly” phenomenon in my house. The rule is, if Mo eats it, it’s gone. So pick up your stuff! But if you’re concerned, you can fairly easily retrieve eaten things from Mo’s belly. I don’t share this with the family for the above mentioned reasons.Anyway, will update in a year. Mo is a keeper.

4.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely worth it!
I read reviews that said „Good but you still have to sweep/vacuum.“ That was very confusing to me (does it work or not?) so allow me to clarify:I have 3 young kids and I run Deebot (R2Dbot) after lunch and after dinner. I stack and move all the dinner chairs because under the table is the worst. My table has 6 legs. When I come back downstairs after it runs completely (and usually finds home by itself) I will notice maybe 3 things/areas that it missed. I don’t worry about them. I just run it again after dinner and it will grab what it left behind before, but misses a cheerio here or popcorn there.I used to sweep 2x a day and vacuum at least every other day. Now I sweep 1x/wk (hard to reach corners and playdoh/salad/wet shredded wheat that Deebot can’t pick up) and vacuum maybe 1x a month. I absolutely love having some help around here and find it so easy to keep the floors clean. It goes easily from the rug, carpet, tile, and hardwood. It pushes large things aside and can manoover out of tricky situations most of the time. It’s not great on mats so I just pick them up before starting it (I would anyway when sweeping). It does my entire main floor without much issue (Kitchen, dining, living, laundry room, bathroom, playroom, and entry way). It has to be rescued about every other day because it ate a huge rubber band, got stuck on rug, or couldn’t get out from under a chair. Because I run it so often and the kids enjoy pushing the start button, it hasn’t bothered me.Bonus: This thing is fun. Did you know that it has a remote that let’s you drive it like a remote control car? My older kids love that. My 2 year old finally has a best friend. He follows deebot around and laughs at him when he runs into a wall. The thing has paid for itself in babysitting alone. I also love that I can use it to motivate the kids: „Oh no! Let’s pick up these toys before Deebot eats them!“ #winning

5.0 out of 5 stars Fixed all my want bumps for a Dyson robot vac!
I’ve only had this unit for less than a week but I’m really loving it (it’s name isn’t Brad but Tobor for you SiFi move fans). I got it on sale for $199, hard to turn down considering I had major want bumps for the Dyson robot Vac which I don’t even know is available in the US but at over $1000, considering I could buy five of these units, want bumps over. I do own two Dyson’s; a Ball and the DC35. Both will still be used but less so thanks to this product.Setup was very easy in terms of the hardware and the iPhone application. The first time I tried this vac, I hadn’t done a vacuuming with the Dyson for about 2 days. Note that our home is just under 2500 square feet, all tile with a number of low shag throw rugs. I charged the unit over night and let it go in auto mode. It moved all over the house in some random course and I let it run until the little guy ran out of battery. That was over 2 hours. I’ve enclosed a photo of the dust found; the unit was filled! Easy to clean up and I was pretty happy overall with the job done. But I don’t believe the little guy covered every area of the house and I don’t know it is fair to expect one unit to do so. Next I tried a different approah. Set the unit in Auto but shut some doors so it is forced to work in a room or two. For example, the master bedroom has a hallway leading to the master bath. On either side of this hallway is a walk in closet and the toilet area. All in all, I suspect 250 or so square feet. I closed the door leading to the rest of the house, set it on auto and gave it an hour to run. This was 2 days after the major house vac with the Dyson Ball. This worked VERY well and the unit was nearly full. Still having batery left (you can see how much on the iPhone app), I placed it into the Kitchen area and again closed off doors so the unit would only vac there and the ‚breakfast nook‘ area. Did a great job there too.So I think this approach of ’spot cleaning‘ one or two rooms rather than hoping to do the entire house is a good one. I also am amazed how much the unit picked up after only 2 days from using the Dyson Ball. Fact is, the robot can get into areas the Dyson can’t and to some degree, vise versa. I don’t expect to use this product 100% instead of the other units but I think several times a week, I may set it loose in a room or two and then do a full on Vac with the Dyson Ball once a week after dusting/cleaning. I suffer from allergies and have three dogs so it isn’t difficult to see how much each vacuums picks up after only a few days. After I ran the first test mentioned above (whole house on Auto), I used the Dyson Ball the next day after dusting and was surprised to see how little was picked up but then it was only a mater of maybe 12 hours between the two.Tobar has had only two, minor issues getting stuck. One was on a towel on the floor I didn’t see. One of the dogs must have knocked it down. It beeped and it was easy to remove the towel. The unit is surprisingly quiet for a vac, the three dogs don’t mind it at all. The new puppy (5 months) is fascinated with it. One time it found the puppy’s ‚pee-pee‘ pad I forgot to pick up. Again easy to remove and Tobar went off to finish it’s job. No issues with carpets and some do have tassels. Does a very good job on carpet; you can see a pattern expected after a vac.Only minor ‚issue‘ as some have reported, is having the unit find it’s way home to charging base. Easy enough to pick up and park it for a charge. And now that I’m moving it manually to zoned off rooms, I have to pick it up and place it where I wish anyway. I either let it do the job until it runs out of battery or pick it up and return to home base. Two photo’s; one after it’s first use (two days after using Dyson Ball); loaded with dirt. 2nd is about 12 hours after using Dyson; not full but still a lot of dust and gunk picked up.Overall I couldn’t be happier at this point with the product!

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this little guy.
I. Hate. Cleaning. Anything that lessens my time spent sweeping, mopping, vacuuming or dusting is worth its weight in gold to me. I have a messy boyfriend, messy kid and a hairy fur-and-kibble-dropping dog, so before I bought this robot, I was constantly frustrated at how dirty my floors were, even immediately after I swept. I hated cleaning because – well, let’s be honest here! – I seriously resented how my family would just waltz right on in, oblivious that I had just mopped or swept, with their muddy dirty shoes, or leave the door open for leaves and crap to blow in, or ignore the dog slobber drips and kibble crumbs and walk right through it instead of cleaning it up. While this vacuum can’t really fix the wet messes – dog slobber, drips of soda, juice, wet sticky mystery substances, spaghetti sauce (ughhhh) – it handles just about everything else. (Maybe my next search should be to see if Ecovacs makes a mop-bot yet!)I bought this in July 2018, and have now had it almost a year. I purchased right before my floors were upgraded from bare, unsealed concrete (yes we really lived on that floor for years and it was awful) to wood-grain laminate. At first I was concerned that this might not pick tiny dust and dirt up from the concrete floor – but it did really well. Then, I was worried that the plastic sweeping brushes might cause static build-up and maybe wouldn’t pick the fine dog hair up off the laminate flooring – but it surprised me. There doesn’t seem to be any problem with static, even almost a year in.I have given this poor machine ZERO maintenance other than emptying the collection bin and occasionally pulling off the brushes and removing long strands of hair (mine) that have collected around the base. I have not even replaced the filters – I just take them outside once in awhile and give them a tap against a brick to knock some of the built-up dirt off. I wouldn’t recommend this approach (you should definitely give it a little more care/maintenance than I have), but I am impressed with how well it has held up with zero effort. This poor robot has been kicked, pushed, and bumped many times and still continues to do its job with the same efficiency as always. It picks up my boyfriend’s gross, coarse, long beard hairs (I cringe whenever I see them because they remind me of a different kind of body hair that, thankfully, he doesn’t actually shed! LOL). It picks up the dog’s short, straight hairs that usually stick to the floor with static electricity, as well as her fine undercoat that is now shedding after winter. It even picks up the inevitable hoardes of tiny little black ants that come inside in the Spring thru every crack and crevice searching for crumbs (even when there are none!)… and although I’m sure many of them just crawl out when the vacuum goes to dock for charging, I like to think that they die a dusty, slow death. I do seem to see fewer of them along my floors and baseboards after using this robot. It may just temporarily disrupt their little paths, but either way – death to house ants!Pros:- Inexpensive, compared to name brands like Roomba- Good quality for the price- Durable; has held up well with little to no maintenance- Convenient- Reduces my annoyance w my messy family!- As long as you run it regularly, it does a good job (not intended for heavily soiled areas)Cons:- Collection bin/tray is pretty small; must empty after each use (hope this company will eventually make one with the auto-empty bin like Roomba introduced last year!)- Kind of loud – definitely nowhere near as loud as a traditional vacuum, but still loud enough to annoy me when I’m watching TV or napping (so I tend to turn it on as I’m leaving the house – so I don’t have to listen to it at all!)- Sometimes gets stuck under a certain piece of furniture that’s just tall enough for the front bumper to get under, but not tall enough for it to move around (I could probably fix this by setting up a barrier but it doesn’t happen that often)

4.0 out of 5 stars Update: some flaws (Way better than Roomba; mediocre software
Update Feb 23. After a few months I still like it but find two flaws. Firstly the single roller gets clogged with per hair on its ends and needs to be removed continuously. Makes it less “set it and forget it.” Also the software is just atrocious. Really.I have owned Roombas probably since they invented the wheel. I loved them but lately they are simply behind the times in everything from quality to features. So Black Friday came and I switched to this all in one mop and vacuum for basically 1/3rd off. The good is that its much quieter, never hits anything (Roomba bangs into furniture that it knows has been there for years), mops way better than Braava, and a few weeks in is just much easier to set and forget. The major complaint so far and has been mentioned by others leaving reviews is their app is pretty bad compared to others. It’s just not intuitive, forces idiotic things (like you can’t change the name of rooms, you have to pick from a list that includes Tatami but excludes Den) and needs too many screens to get to much. However once you learn it you can get past it and not worry. And in the end, it’s a cleaner, not a game, so the app is secondary. Is t worth $1500? That’s a tough call, but I got it at $999 and that felt OK considering the competition. The camera is a user choice about privacy concerns. I have no doubt that Roomba holds plenty of data about me now fed to Amazon, its new owner. But you do have to accept that part of the Ecovac X2 ability to dodge dog poop and objects comes from a live camera. How it holds up over time is a mystery. I know Roombas began to feel old and more hinky after about a year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very happy with this robot vac — square design is clutch!
Surprised at the recent negative reviews — we’ve been using this vacuum since October and have had no issues with its performance or the app! I’ve purposely held off on reviewing for a couple months to ensure we had enough experience with it. Overall, this robot vac is incredible. The design, the technology and the app all work together seamlessly to provide such an easy, thorough experience that has kept our new floors cleaner than any other robot vac we’ve used in the past (and has given me so much time back from sweeping & mopping myself). It is so great at maintaining the home esp if you have pets or kids!Pros:- square design! can’t say enough about how much better this is for corners/edges, esp since we have 2 little kids + 2 dogs — picks up everything!!- initial mapping can take a while, but is super thoughtful and smart- great at lifting mop pads over carpet/rugs, to ensure they stay dry — I worried about this, but watched it the first few times and felt each rug — no dampness every time- suction is awesome, and love the option of suction strength- automated features make it really just run on its own (auto empties/cleans, auto dries, auto refills)- camera has been clutch for when it runs while we’re away — this is definitely a nice to have, but doesn’t hurt to have another device to help monitor the home as wellCons:- can be a little loud (depends on suction strength), but we usually run it while we’re out or at night and it’s been fine- def need to make sure smaller rugs (e.g. our bathroom mat with tassels) stay off the ground while it runs, as it doesn’t seem to like those — but that’s an easy fix and common for all robot vacs- this is more of a learning: if you have dogs (or people lol) that shed a lot of hair, just make sure you use the „mop after vacuum“ mode!! we didn’t think about this in the beginning, and kept using „vacuum & mop mode“, which would make it harder for it to pickup the hairs on hardwood floor since it mops it tooSuper happy with this purchase, and is definitely a great option if you’re debating vs. house cleaning services, as it does an incredible job maintaining and you can run it however many times you need to in a day/week (vacuum, or mop, or both). For me, that means the deeper or spot cleaning that I would do (or hire out) doesn’t feel as daunting or needed as frequently. I would absolutely recommend this!!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Quiet Dust Bunny Hunter that is Great for Hardwood floors!
The media could not be loaded. I recently purchased this product a few weeks ago at a steep discount (it was on sale, and I had a code for an additional $50 off, bringing my purchase price to about $150). Since this is my first „robot vacuum cleaner“, I was very keen on waiting for a big sale and I read several reviews on this and similar models before committing to my purchase. My home is all hardwood floors, and as anyone who lives in such a dwelling can tell you, hardwood floors are really good at breeding dust bunnies, especially along the edges, corners, and around things like radiators and electronics. Add a cat, and now you’ve got cat fur slowly accumulating around the house and attracting even more dust bunnies. It’s not like manually cleaning up from dust bunnies is hard, but it’s annoying, and no matter what, it feels like there’s always some more dust to be found.Enter the Deebot N79S! This little guy is the cure to all those rampaging dust bunnies. Quiet and low key, this Deebot goes to town in my livingroom and kitchen, sucking up all that dust into his little bin. Picks up crumbs and dirt with no problem, and even works on my flat low living room rug. It’s low enough that it can actually go under my radiators and pick up some of that dust in there. You can control it like an R/C car with the included remote control, or via the app on your phone. It goes home on it’s own when low on batteries. And It’s unbelievably quiet (though readers beware, I am hard of hearing) as the „wheels“ are louder than the actual vacuum when it’s rolling around at full speed. Also, it doesn’t terrify my cat like the regular vacuum cleaner does.Does my cat sit on it? No, he won’t ride it, but even if he did, I probably wouldn’t like that, since I have no idea if the Deebot can handle the extra weight of my 12 pound cat on the top. It seems to be sensitive to things on top of it anyways.Deebot isn’t perfect though. I’ve had to change a few lazy habits in my living room, like leaving my socks or towels on the floor (Deebot can get stuck on loose fabric). I’ve also had to tidy up my electronics and cables (Deebot can get really tangled up with cords, and tried to eat my headphones one time). Small rugs can cause a problem for Deebot as well, as the Deebot sometimes drags the small rug behind it.In my opinion, Deebot isn’t something for deep cleaning in my opinion, but more like daily/every-day type of cleaning. I’d still use my regular vacuum cleaner to get the areas that Deebot misses, but Deebot does a good job of picking up what I’d call normal everyday dirt, dust, and fur/hair that settles in your home. Every time I run it, It comes back with a full dust bin for me to empty, so that tells me that it’s definitely cleaning.I recommend watching it run the first time you have it auto clean, so that you can „save“ it from (and identify) some of the „clutter/tangle challenges“ you may find in your home. Once you’ve got the clutter removed, this guy can go to town, cleaning the room while you sleep or busy at work.Pros:Cleans Great with Hardwood floorsQuiet operation (can run at night while you sleep if you wanted)Easy to clean/emptyApp works great, works with Google Home/AssistantDoesn’t freak out animalsCons:Can get stuck on cables or loose clothing (remove the clutter before starting Deebot)Probably doesn’t work too well for carpet (untested, but not recommended anyways)

4.0 out of 5 stars Up date 25 DEC 2023// 12 JUL 2023 To many problems
The media could not be loaded. 25 DEC 2023 I got to return my old one in for a new one and after that exchanged this robot has been doing what I expected it to and the app editing finally is easy to navigate through!!! I was experiencing a lot of problems and if you are too read the section below to see if yours was doing anything like this because they said that there was an ISSUE WITH SOME OF THEM LIKE MY FIRST ONE 12 JUL 2023My robot does more just driving around back and forth instead of actually cleaning. What is going on with this thing ? We had it for a week did the mapping right away but it drives around for several minutes going back and forth in the same area like it’s lost while it’s not cleaning. Then cleans a different area comes back to Same area and does it again. Also it was in the same spot not moving at all but still cleaning. The brushes were rolling, it was still sucking, and the mop pads was turning to with water still coming out. It did this for 5 minI also had some problems on the app timing out on loading a screen, time out saving an editing, and robot keeps going off line.Everything is always picked up with all doors open. We never had a problem with the shark robot 2 in 1. And that was with the quick cleaning and AIVI off. I’m sending it to each individual room and its seems to be doing its job. But I shouldn’t have to do that every time I want the house clean, when we leave. Been dealing with tech support but only 1 thing got somewhat resolved and that was app timing out every time. Now it’s just sometimes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Vacuum, Amazing Price
Completely worth every single pennyIf you are debating if a robot vacuum is worth the cost, let me help you make your decision a lot easier and faster. YES. Yes, it is worth it! We have lovingly named our robot DJ and he has been happily adopted into our family. He cleans our home so well that I rarely have to sweep with a broom or get the old vacuum out. I used to sweep every single day only to have the floors always appear soiled. To make it worse, we have dark wood floors (shows dirt more), a dog who is constantly bringing in dirt and shedding, two cats and a baby boy! So many daily messes happening!Currently have been using for three months daily. Cleans for about an hour until it needs to charge again, then will charge for about 3-4 hours.Pros:1. First and foremost, it’s a machine that cleans for you… need I say more?2. Works well on hard floors, carpet and rugs. It does well transitioning between hard and carpeted floors without getting confused or stuck3. Fantastic price! Far cheaper than the Roomba and they run coupons for this often4. GREAT with pet hair!5. Speaking of Roomba… ECOVACS vacuum is superior in the following ways: shorter height (about half an inch shorter… can fit under couches and furniture much better), two side brushes instead of one and much more quiet. Watch any YouTube video comparing this vacuum to the comparable Roomba model and it wins every time.6. DJ cleans many hard to reach and rarely cleaned areas (under the couch, ottoman, console tables, etc.) If you suffer from dust allergies, it may help your sneezing, itchy eyes, etc. since less dust will be in your home and you will deal less with the dirt/animal hair. DJ has made a snack out of those pesky animal hair tumbleweeds, so you won’t have to let your poor allergies suffer any longer cleaning those things!7. Won’t go for a tumble down your stairs if you have them!8. Easy to use. I haven’t really had to read the instruction manual since it’s pretty basic9. Easy to clean for regular maintenance and even includes a cleaning brush – really important to do especially if you have pets10. Remote is very handy and you can steer robot around the house – hours of entertainment! My baby boy loves to watch him go!11. Has cut down on the amount of dust not only on the floors but on our shelves/tables too! Win!12. Does a good job of not bumping into things for the most part. I have noticed it runs into darker items more than brighter ones, though.Cons:All of these are so minor compared to how awesome my life is now with DJ in it.1. There are the typical cons that apply to pretty much EVERY robot vacuum: has trouble with corners, small dust bin, gets stuck sometimes, has trouble finding home, runs over the same areas multiple times since it’s not a “smart” vacuum (don’t tell DJ we said that about him. His feelings may get hurt)2. Not a fan of the app. It doesn’t have the full functionality the actual remote has and is slow to load. It does the job but not as well as I would like. Not a deal breaker, but if the app is important to you I would consider another vacuum or hope they update the app!3. Remote has to be fairly close to robot and pointed almost directly at it for it to work well. Very minor but still an issue4. We had an issue with DJ operating under an unauthorized cleaning alarm at midnight for a few nights. I called support and they told me to turn it off for 10 seconds, remove the batteries from the remote for 10 seconds and problem solved!5. Wish it had a friendlier, easier on the ear beeping noise6. Doesn’t come with “road blocks” that keep it away from certain areas like Roomba doesWhat are you waiting for?! Go buy this now!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great robot vacuum for the price
UPDATE #2 (04/08/2020)In the previous reviews I complained about this robot not being anything like a good old iRobot Roomba. Well, it is not, but it has its pluses. The burnt motor was actually not a burnt motor but the hairs tangled in one of the inner components that prevented the brush from spinning. If you are somewhat handy and can take it apart, it will run again like a charm. So far my fist Deebot has lasted 2 years and is still going strong. Over the course of the past 2 years I had to be take it apart twice. But for the price, this is not a big deal. One way to avoid it from happening is to clean it regularly and not be lazy and let the hairs get sucked inside of it.The garbage bin lost a spring and does not close tight. But this too is not a big deal because it works fine once it is placed back in its compartment. So far, I have changed my review from one star to 5 stars, and purchased two more of these.Suction is still weak. But it works spectacular for human hair, pets hair, and plain dust. After getting my first irobot Roomba and the Deebot N79S two years ago, I can’t stop bragging about how much cleaner my house now is and how much less dust there is.Note, this Deebot does not have very sophisticated sensors as some more expensive vacuums do.The good: it does not get stock every time it encounters something on its way.The bad: it does have issues getting over thick rugs and may get stock. But I still love it to the point I bought two more and a third one as a gift for my mom.Update on quality:So far this has lasted as long as my Roomba. Both had issues in the past two years. But two years is a long time for something used almost every day._________________________UPDATE #1:Original purchase 03/2018. As of 05/2018 the motor has burnt out and the brush is no longer spinning.—————————————ORIGINAL REVIEW:Power/suction: this is not roomba 980 (which I own in addition to this deebot), but it picks up dust and pets hair. Better than not having anything or having to clean on your own every day if you have pets that shed all over. And the house does look cleaner. It tends to get stock on taller rugs and may get tangled into loose chargers or wires. Therefore its important to make sure than any small items off the floor. This Deebot N79S will have trouble cleaning large areas completely as it does not clean in the pattern but just bounces all over the area. There will be areas that it misses. It does not have a charge and resume function. It is not programable for different rooms, and I dont know of any inexpensive room vacuums that are.It does not like thick or shaggy rugs or rugs with fringes. But most robots do not. And my solution for this is to tuck the fringes under the rug.Cleaning pattern:Ohh.., it does not have one. This thing goes wild. But it likes to work. It may not work in any particular order, but it will run for hours and it will clean. The battery lasts quit a while. Not for large houses/areas: I use it for my master suite, bathroom and a closet. Approx. 500-800sq.ft. If you are getting this for larger homes it may need to be started several times in order to finish cleaning. To compare, Roomba 980 vs Deebot N79S:Differences: number of controls (one has two buttons (deebot) one has three (Roomba)), deebot is much weaker, and it probably does not have all the same sensors. If it did, then it would have a better cleaning pattern. No camera. No resume function. No wheels that lift it up when it needs to get through a higher surface.Similarities: both are made of inexpensive plastic; both are round and awfully similar in the design; very similar dust bin, the only thing I like more about the Deebot is that it has additional mesh filter before the small paper filter.

4.0 out of 5 stars The little guy doesn’t like schedules ;-{
Update: I successfully installed some simple ramps (available on Amazon), then discovered I needed to add some sand paper like, self-stick grippers (also available on Amazon) and double sided carpet tape (yes, also from Amazon) to make it all work and my self-engineered system functions perfectly, only adding about $36 to the overall cost. Now the robot can easily maneuver around my small apartment, crawling up the ramps to go in an out of the rooms. My complaint is if I accidentally set a timer for automatic cleaning, which I did three times on the remote because I wanted to set the time, but instead started the automatic scheduler. NOTHING I did with the help of customer support, would erase those scheduled sessions. Taking the battery out of both the remote and the unit itself and leaving them unconnected for a day made any difference. So I had to turn it off when on the charger, then manually turn back on when I want it to clean. I find this annoying. Even turned off, this thing makes a noise at the mistakenly scheduled time. OMG, what? So I’ve had to send it back twice now with the same error. So now I’m waiting for the 3rd new unit to arrive. Customer service is great, but two replacements in less than 4 months is also annoying. Obviously, the company stands behind it’s product by allowing the returns at their cost, but I can’t clean during the down time. It cleans very well on my uneven floor surfaces, running from LR rug, to hardwood floor, to kitchen, bathroom and hallway tile, then into the BR where it encounters rugs, yoga mats and hardwood floors. Ok, this all works thanks to my rigged up system of sticky ramps , but the timer issue puts a chink in the armor. And, BTW, the yoga mats don’t like the main vacuum brush, so I move them now. Deebot likes to take little bites out of the padded mats, especially a very thick one I have. If DEEBOT can fix this software error, it will be a dynamic little cleaning device. Am I the only one who has this problem?(See update above) I will update my post after I receive some items I ordered to help it move around my entire apartment. I have 3/4 to 1″ saddles at my doorways and the robot is not always able to climb them. He gets stuck coming out of my bedroom, but it’s not his fault. In the meantime, this item works way better than I expected. The dust bin gets full and I have noticed that my floors and the areas under my bed, couches and other furniture are clean for the first time (because I don’t like sweeping or vacuuming much). I had a small scheduling issue with the robot, but believe that is now resolved. I bought this item from the Prime Truck. As a bonus, they gave me a gift box full of 25 baby succulents. How did they know I have a huge, indoor succulent garden? I mixed in their plants with mine and now I have an enviable set of plants like I’ve always wanted. The price point for the robot was very low, so I am extremely happy with this purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Smart Vac I Have Used
This is by far the best smart vac i have every used. I am a big fan because with three dogs this vacuum saves me a lot of time and energy trying to clean up their hair and dirt they track around the house on a daily basis. This is the first one i have used that has gone from being a supplemental cleaning device to almost being the primary one. It does such a good job getting close to the baseboards with its square design. It is able to suck up all of the dirt, and fuzz bunnies that build up there. Surprisingly the rubber roller on the bottom is an excellent upgrade and hairs don’t get tangled up like the older bristle ones do. In terms of regular maintenance – this was a big improvement in my perspective.I love how diligent and hard working it is in regards to mopping. It somehow senses how dirty the pads are and will go back to the station as many times as needed to clean up the pads with hot water and send it back out to continue on until it finishes. When done mopping, there is nothing needed from me, the mop heads raise up and it will head out onto the carpet to start vacuuming. In terms of a set it and forget it, AI driven, home cleaning, automation device this one goes further than i expected. All that is required of me is the keep the clean water tank full, the dirty water tank empty, the vacuum bag empty, and set a schedule in the app for regular cleanings. From there it pretty much manages itself. Sure, it might occasionally get stuck and need some help but i have found that when it happens its a pretty unique and complex scenario. For the most part this one handles normal obstacles better than other I have tried. It also hasn’t fallen victim to the terrible dog poo dilemma that i have unfortunately faced in others. This is a huge deal for me and never want to go through that again. This vacuum is a winner in my book and is doing a great job helping this busy Momma keep her house as clean as can be.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best purchase ever
Both my wife and I agree that this is the single best thing we have ever purchased. Ever. We have two elementary aged boys and a Standard Poodle and it has no problems keeping up with day to day floor cleaning. We had been planning on getting the earlier version of the N79S, the N79, as a Christmas present for each other last year, but finances conspired against us and we weren’t able to afford it until early April. It arrived in 3 (!) different boxes. A box within a box within a box. That seemed excessive. Everything was neatly packaged and in good shape when it arrived. I unpacked it and did some minor assembly (attached edge brushes, peeled off protective plastic, etc) and placed it on the charger. The instructions recommend that you charge it for 4 hours before using.Once it was charged I connected it to our home wifi and got the app setup on my phone. The setup and wifi connection went very smoothly and I set the vacuum off on it’s first thorough cleaning of the main floor of our home. The majority of our house is either hardwood floors or sheet vinyl with some tile and low-pile rugs thrown in. It does a fantastic job cleaning everything. It occasionally gets stuck on cords or gets lost and runs out of battery, but most of the time it finds it’s way back to the charging dock without any problems. It even sucked up a stray guitar string that my oldest son left on his bedroom floor. I simply flipped the vacuum over on it’s top, removed the main brush, and unwound the guitar string from the brush – no tools needed. It typically will run for about an hour and a half or so before needing to return to the dock for charging. It does get noisy when it runs into things that the sensors have problems picking up (skateboards, dust pans, wire legged chairs), but it’s generally pretty quiet. I usually can’t hear it when it’s cleaning in another room. The amount of stuff it picks up is pretty staggering. I have noticed that the collection bin has been less full as time has gone on, but I attribute that to the house being sooooo much cleaner. The bin and filters are really easy to clean, too. I just pat the high efficiency filter on a paper towel to knock the dust out, and the bin, primary mesh filter, and sponge filter get a rinse in the sink and air dry. I probably clean the filters and brushes once a week or so.You can also name your robot in the app. I christened our new robot housekeeper Rosie Jetson. The Deebot is not as sassy as Rosie, but we don’t have flying cars yet either. I scheduled the robot to clean while we are home as we have a dog and I’ve heard the horror stories about robovacs and pooping dogs and I don’t need that in my life.I think the only things I’d really like to see are Google Home integration and the ability to navigate the robot with the app while it’s doing it’s cleaning cycle. I understand that it currently works with Alexa, but I got a Google Home for free when I got my last cellphone, so that’s the set I roll with. The included remote allows you to „drive“ the vac while it’s doing it’s cleaning cycle, but in the app the steering functions are greyed out and not functional while the robot is cleaning. So, TL;DR, summary:PROS:-Easy setup-Quiet-Long battery life-Easy to maintain-Picks up so much stuffCONS:-Gets stuck sometimes-No Google Home integration-Can’t steer from app while cleaning, only with physical remote-Didn’t purchase soonerUpdate: It now has Google Home integration.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for maintaining with vacuum AND mopping features
Over the years I have wanted a robot vacuum, but waited until my research findings allowed me to decide on a unit that was worth the money. I finally chose this unit because it vacuums, mops, self cleans (and uses hot water to self clean), air dries it’s mops after the self clean, empties out its dust bin into the base station and holds enough water to clean my entire house (1800 sq ft). This unit did not disappoint. Another thing to mention is my husband cannot take the noise of a loud noisy vacuum as he has severe tinnitus and that noise will cause it to get extreme. I was worried about just how noisy this unit would be – couldn’t find much in the reviews about noise level. Well, I am happy to report that as the vacuum is going, it is very tolerable. It is a low hum that you barely hear in the next room. The unit arrived in a rather large box, was packed well inside the box, and was easy to take out and set up. One thing to mention is you will need to download the app on your phone and connect it to your network that your phone is connected to. (I made the mistake of downloading an app that asked for a lifetime one time fee of $24.95). Turns out you don’t need that app- make sure to scan the machine’s QR code to get the free app that comes with the machine. This QR code is on the inside of the base station lid.Once I set up the machine, (note I filled the tank with plain water), I set it off to go explore the house. It mapped out my house and returned to its base. I then went on the app and labeled the rooms it mapped out and then set it off to clean the living room floor. The machine at first appeared to wander around the perimeter, but then started a methodical cleaning once it completed a perimeter run. When it found rugs or carpet, it turned off its mop feature, raised the mops and increased the suction of the vacuum. When it rolled off of the carpet it lowered the suction, lowered the mops and started the vacuum/mop feature. When it reached the end of the cleaning, it announced it was complete in its cleaning and that it would return to home.I have real wood floors, linoleum, rugs, and carpet throughout my home. The machine adapted to every surface. Only once did it get stuck under a dining room chair where it could not get out of the position. It turned itself off and announced that it was stuck and to please remove it from the jammed area.I would like to see some improvement on the app, (it would not allow me to divide a large room (that is really 2 rooms) as it says “error” tap to divide room again. The machine also has a camera, so you can record or watch what it cleans. Pretty fancy for a robot vacuum.I give this unit 5 stars as it has done everything to my expectations and I have floors that are gleaming clean. Now, if they could design one that dusts furniture (hover to tabletops lol), my cleaning experience would be perfect.I did not use any tech support so I am not rating that. One last thing to add, I bought the unit on good Friday at a great deal of 30% off. So instead of $1,500.00 I paid $1,000.00.Update: It has been a few months. I named my robot Rosie- Rosie does a great job of maintaining my floors. I start her once a week and she keeps everything gleaming. One time I accidentally left my phone charger cord hanging on the floor. I was not home while Rosie was cleaning and she sucked up the cord. She stopped and sent me a message to clear her rollers. When I got home, I found her sitting where she stopped and opened her up, pulled out my cord and cleaned some wrapped hair that was wrapped as well. I am amazed she still worked great with the end of the roller wrapped with hair. Once clean, I sent her home and restarted her. She started right up and worked perfectly. I am still thrilled with my machine.

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING premium mop/vaccum robot: better than Roborock, Dreame, iRobot
OK, when I got this robot vac almost 2 months ago I was hesitant. We had just moved into a new house with all tile floors and I had just retired our Neato Botvac D10 and was looking for something that would do mopping. I tried and returned a RoboRock S8 Pro Ultra and was reading reviews about Dreame L20 and Ecovacs. Interestingly, Roborock must hire a lot of ‚plants‘ to promote them on Reddit and bash every other company, but Ecovacs is a huge company in China and Roborock is just a little startup. When my wife and I visited China both our friends and the AirBnB we stayed in had Ecovacs robots. I ordered both the Dreame L20 Ultra and the X2 Omni to try out and compare. I won’t bring up the Dreame any further than to say the X2 Omni is a better designed and built robot for a cheaper price.I have to really commend Ecovacs for innovating robot design and moving to a semi solid-state Lidar system – the venerated top-mounted 360 lidar that has been around since Neato came out with the XV-11 in 2009. Before that Roomba was pretty ‚dumb‘ and just bounced around randomly. The design of the top mounted lidar has stuck around for over a decade, and its proven to be a workable design, but the semi-exposed spinning laser turret on a belt drive has proven to be an achilles heel on in durability. Ecovacs has decided to boldly improve the design which lowers the overall height of the robot so it can better get under furniture. Also, most robots have settled on a round shape, while the roller brush and suction area are usually 50-70% of the width of the body. Ecovacs again improved on this design going to a flat front, like the original Neato robots, to better access corners and edges. While some companies are coming out with extendable arms and edge hoses, I have discovered over many robot vacuums that the more of these mechanical parts there are, the more likely they are to malfunction and break in the long run. Because honestly, even at $1000 these robot vacuums are not industrial machines, they are little more than useful toys. They aren’t meant to fully replace our job of cleaning, but they are meant to help alleviate our workload. The X2 Omni originally shipped with firmware 1.50, but after having the bot for about a week it updated to firmware 1.62. After another few weeks it updated again to 1.70. Tonight it just received an update to 1.75! Ecovacs is really spending time improving this model. With each firmware update I have noticed improvements in its mapping, navigation, and floor cleaning efficiency. For all the reviewers who criticized the X2 omni, I wish they had reported which firmware they were using. Also, I have found that many of the problems users experience with a robot come down to how they have their house set up. Personally we don’t leave phone charger cables hanging around the floor, or random socks, or little kids toys like legos. We don’t have high pile carpet, there are only a few low-pile area rugs, and we don’t have high saddles in doorways. Almost all of our furniture is raised to the point that the robot can easily go under it and not get stuck.I did have some problems with the robot thinking that our lazy-boy couch was a wall, but tech support was very helpful by explaining that it was because one side of the couch is against the wall and the robot didn’t understand that it was a separate piece of furniture. But other than that the 3D house mapping to even show you furniture in the app is amazing.I have found the X2 omni solid-state LIDAR + AI camera-based navigation to be amazing, and the mopping functionality is the best I have found. I love the voice-activated YIKO functions that don’t even require an Alexa or Google or Apple device to use. I wouldn’t say this robot is perfect, but I am absolutely thrilled with my purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Robot Vacuum – Just One Flaw
I bought this against my wife’s wishes. She said that we didn’t need a robotic vacuum. However, we are both disabled and vacuuming the main level of our house was very tiring on her because of knee problems, and I have back problems. We received the Deebot N79S on the date that it was expected. I promptly opened the package, got the charger station set up, attached the brushes which was very easy to do, downloaded the app, and put the Deebot onto the charger to let it charge to reach full battery strength. I believe the battery might come already charged, but I left it on the charger for 4 hours. When I went to set up the Deebot onto my wifi Orbi system which creates one network name for my entire house, I was unable to connect it on that strong network. I believe this is because of the wifi’s 5 Ghz system, and it will only set up on a 2.4 Ghz system. Fortunately, I have a wifi extender that is not part of Orbi that is still connected and I was able to connect my Deebot to that. The Deebot comes with a remote that you can use to get it going, so having the wifi set up is not as important, especially those with no internet. Setting the time on the remote was very easy and that was all that I did with that. It was late at night (I am a night owl), and I pressed the auto button on my Deebot and it started going to town. I watched as the Deebot as it went from area to area. I have hardwood floors, low pile carpet, carpet runners, and linoleum in the downstairs of my house, and the Deebot was able to handle them all. After the Deebot was finished it found itself back to the charging station to start recharging. I can say that Deebot performed very well. All of my carpeted areas were great looking and it cleaned the dust on my hardwoods. When I went to empty the collection bin, it was quite full. It was easy to open and to discard into my trashcan. Some of the spinner brushes had been warped out of shape in the process of maneuvering around objects. It comes with a spare set of brushes, but I left the current ones in because they were not terribly warped. I might change them out after my third vacuuming. I would highly advise that you get the accessory kit with the extra spinning brushes, the filters, and a spare brush roller. I have that on my order list to get this week.Overall, the Deebot works great!! I am giving it 4-stars because of the need to change the spinner brushes more often than you would expect. The spinner brushes are its one flaw. I would highly recommend the Deebot N79S to anyone who hates vacuuming and who does not have high pile, or shag carpets. If you found this review helpful, please click the YES icon.Just to note, I am an Amazon prime customer and I have not been compensated, nor have I been provided a free product in relation to this review. It is my own opinion on the product and may not reflect other’s opinions. If after a few months use, and I find that the Deebot is not performing as spectacularly as it did during the first and second vacuuming. I will come back and update my review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clean floors are possible in a two-dog rural household.
I wanted to give Nancy a month or so before I reviewed, so we could get acquainted with each other’s quirks. This unit replaced a Costco-special Roomba – nothing fancy, vacuum-only, no self-emptying. Over the 4 years we had the Roomba, I had developed a routine to take it apart and vacuum it out after each run as a means of coping with the dog hair and the dust. It sort of helped. But with a back yard that alternates between mud pit or dust bowl, and two dogs who make it a point to bring as much of that yard into the house as possible, we thought upgrading to a mopping bot made sense. The self-emptying alone is pretty awesome. No more garbage can freshly topped off with Roomba leavings to blow up the next time something gets tossed in. I still take the roller off the Deebot and vacuum around the ends to get rid of hair whenever I empty the dirty water tank and refill the clean, but this is weekly as opposed to daily (or more) with the old Roomba. Speaking of the self-emptying, it is LOUD. You get a meek-sounding little heads-up „about to start to“ and then right about at the end of that second „to“… WHOOOOSH! Then it repeats. It’s loud, but it works well. And the bot itself, outside of the self-emptying, is much quieter than our old sweep/vac Roomba. The mopping function is better than I expected. After a storm, when the floor is covered in fresh mud paw prints, Nancy gets them up. I use a pre-set deep-scrubbing, 2-passes, medium-water-flow „special job“ for this. I can’t say it leaves the floor spotless, but it leaves it a whole lot cleaner that it would be if I just left the paw prints to dry and turn to dust, which is honestly what happened before the Deebot. I’m not a mopper.Sometimes the self-guidance seems to go a little wonky. Nancy has a particular problem with one floor register for our HVAC system. Can’t seem to decide if it’s carpet or hard (it’s a louvered metal grate, dammit), but wants to circle around and roll over it endlessly. Quirk.I’ll also echo the room-naming complaint from an earlier reviewer. The app wants to call my master bathroom „kitchen“, and neatly divides the master bedroom into „bedroom 1“ and „bedroom 2“ – with the bed itself apparently dividing those, like a scene out of an old Brady Bunch episode. I can’t rename ‚em, so I might as well complain about it here. It does not impact the Deebot’s performance in any way.The ability to watch from the bot’s perspective as it cruises around and does its thing is, I must admit, pretty cool. I’m not sure how it could ever be useful, but as a guy who used to spend hours staring at the „invisible door“ dishwasher display at Sears as a kid, and who can still get suckered in for a bit too long by a good front-loading washing machine, I find it intriguing. Is it worth the rather high cost? So far, yes. Absolutely it is. Cutting down the mud/dust on the floors has a trickle-up effect, in that we have to dust the higher surfaces much less frequently now. You can sit down on the couch without a visible plume of dust poofing out around you. It’s good to be clean.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little robot!
OK, count me in as impressed with this Deebot N79s. Only had this thing about 10 days and it works great. I did my homework first to make sure this Deebot N79s would work in the house. Read it was 3.1 inches high so I measured my two couches and they were both at 2 inches. Ordered 2 sets of 2 inch risers and now they sit at 4 inches. My coffee table sits on a low pile carpet and was only about 3 inches. Quick trip to the store to buy a set of square rubber carpet pads and solves that table problem. Wrapping the cords up so they were not on the floor to solve the problem of getting caught in the brush, done. Now I buy the Deebot N79s for only $159 on Amazon during Prime days.Arrives and set it up just fine.Being a retired computer engineer and knowing the instructions said the unit works on the 2.4G SSID band only, I test it trying to connect it up with my iPhone connected to my 5G band. And yes, it did not work as expected. So I now switch the iPhone to the 2.4G band and it connects right up and works perfect. Now I can go back to my iPhone and switch back the 5G band and it works just fine, as expected.Yeah, it cleans great just like everyone says. We have 3 short hair cats and really never vacuum the entire place. All hardwood floors except for the 2 low pile rugs a 2’x3’ small and the coffee table one, about 3’x 6’. Both these rugs had fringe on them. I simply cut the fringe off of both. They actually look better and the fringe doesn’t trap the dirt anymore. We are running this every day and the dust bin is full, we can’t believe it. So after the 5th day I break out the Swiffer Wet Jet and I wet jet the entire wood floor under everything and all corners. “OK” I say to myself, now let’s see what it picks up. After the run, the dust bin is full again! So now I vacuum the two rugs with our upright vacuum and hardly get anything in its bin. Fire up the Deebot and again the dust bin is full! Where the heck is all this stuff coming from?It fits under all the furniture and coffee table as they were raised a bit. It just barely got stuck for the first time under one section of the kitchen cabinets. This section must have been 3 inches high from the floor ;-). A simple strip of soft ½ inch self adhesive foam insulation tape stuck under the section solves that problem and you can’t even see it. Now if the unit hits that spot again it will hit the foam tape and back away. Simple fix.All I do is pick up the garbage can from the floor, move the high kitchen chairs out from the island and fire up auto mode. It goes around the island fine, through the kitchen chairs and even the dining room chairs.I would suggest you run the bot around via the remote to all places you think is may get stuck at. Now you can fix those areas so is does not happen. The app on the phone works well and you can set different times of the day for each day of the week. Although it only runs AUTO mode, I wish I could schedule EDGE mode for at least one day a week. The charging station is against the wall. I have one foot clearance on each side and two foot clearance in the front as the IR shoots though the end of the dining room table with chairs. It has always made it back home with no issue.I bought 6 extra filters, 6 extra brushes and brush roller for about $24. The brushes came all bent out of shape but dipping them in hot water for about 4.2 second straightens them out just perfect. This will probably work for brushes that are all bent out of shape from use but still in good shape.Update: This unit works so good I just bought a 2nd one for the upstairs for only $80! $30 off coupon and used my Discover points!

5.0 out of 5 stars Read the negative reviews & heed their warnings!
I’ve owned several Deebots over the last several years, none were perfect by any means but the software they have keeps drawing me back plus their features combined with price are always are better buy than the competition. I felt the X2 would be similar & for some reason, silly me thought Ecovacs would have actually improved by now after learning about customer experiences. After owning the X2 for 45 days I’d have to say not much of the above is true. Yeah, they still make excellent software but what good is it if the software itself has several bugs and the robot just fails to live up to expectations. The biggest ‚fail‘ just started happening days after the extended Amazon holiday return period had come & gone–pet & people hair that get scooped up by the roller that don’t get sucked up instantly are quickly pushed off to the sides of the roller where they jam it tight & cause an error. Took me a while to figure out how best to attack this problem as trying to squeeze my large fingers in there to pull it out little by little is not only exasperating but time consuming. I may as well just vacuum & mop myself for the 30-45 minutes it takes to get it unstuck. The problem is that the hair not only gets wound around the side roller but also underneath & in between the main roller & the sides, forcing those 2 little side rollers against the body of their frame. The easiest way to fix this is with a thin screwdriver to wedge in between the roller & frame so you can gently pull it up. The first 30 days this didn’t happen once, had it done so I would have sent it back immediately. Now it happens twice each time the robot is tasked for cleaning. There have been a couple of software glitches the worst of which is the robot thinking my throw rugs & runners are extreme dirt h trying to ‚erase‘ the pattern! The X2 will spend a good half hour or more on a 3′ x 5′ kitchen rug, on super high speed, twitching away. As if this isn’t bad enough it first tries to do the perimeter of each rug & it’s movements twist the rug up into a small pyramid. It’s ruined 2 beautiful design throw rugs that we can’t find anymore. If I pick the rugs up then it happily goes about vacuuming & or mopping all the tile but it has this quirk of going along the edge of a carpet at super high suction, then back over the tile at low suction, then back on the carpet, repeating this the entire length of whatever carpet it’s working on. The constant ramping up to super high suction & back down again is not only ridiculous but pretty annoying to anyone who’s around while this is going on. There is a setting to prevent it from increasing suction on carpet but with my golden retriever I really need that feature. The amount of time the X2 wastes trying to erase my throw rugs & then going back & forth across the width of a hallway instead of making just 3 passes down the length of the hall causes it to need to recharge much too soon. Then there’s the AI setting, don’t know where to begin with that. Let’s just say when I first got the X2 I figured I’d use all the features but they obviously didn’t program their AI good enough as it IS pretty artificial but not very intelligent. It would meander all over the place, missing large areas of the house while taking forever to do so. Took me a couple of days to figure out how to turn it off but it hasn’t been on since. All this isn’t to say it might not be a bad robot for some, namely those without pets or people with long hair. It does a pretty good job mopping especially considering I do have a large, hairy dog. He’s well trained & doesn’t go out in the mud or for walks in the rain so it’s not like my floors get real dirty & if you look at them you’d say they were pretty clean but the dirty water tank still has some sediment in the bottom along with the water being cloudy. It also does a pretty good job vacuuming. I have a large macaw who makes a mess shredding newspapers h dropping nuts out of the cage & the X2 not only picks it all up but has never once had a problem emptying, unlike previous Deebots we’ve owned. All this being said, I would NOT recommend this to anyone with a pet based solely on the problems I mentioned at the beginning.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceeded Our Expectations For Unique Requirements
We live in a large restored antebellum home that was designed and constructed in a very compartmentalized manner. The home is 90+% solid hardwood flooring with the remainder sealed brick, tile, and short nap rugs. Each room has a 6-8 inch wide bevel-sided 1 inch high wood threshold divider at each of its doorways. We resisted buying a robot vacuum as we were unsure whether any robot vacuum cleaner would be able to successfully move unassisted throughout the several rooms of each story and be able to negotiate the wood floor thresholds. Nevertheless, we wanted one to help with the floor vacuuming chore. We did not want a room mapping (memory) type system as our home has so many rooms in the 2 stories and the mapping systems appear not to remember a room map when moved by hand to another room (as we must do). After studying the reviews we chose the Ecovacs N79S as our test subject. Since arriving we have run the robot completely throughout the house several times. To our surprise and delight „Rufus the Robot“ went through each room and was able to climb right up and over the threshold obstacles. The one exception is the threshold to the family room which is about a 1.5 inch sheer drop to a brick floor. Rufus correctly sees this as a low dropped off area and turns around in another direction. From the lower brick side the vertical threshold profile is sensed as a obstacle. This we expected. The slim profile allows Rufus to get under several tables we previously had to move to vacuum and fits under the kitchen base cabinet recessed areas without a problem. The amount of dust and odd bits this vacuum picks up is astonishing. We vacuum regularly with a good canister unit but this thing still manages to find lots of dust. The twin side brushes are especially good at getting dirt and dust from not only baseboards, but from around furniture legs and large low items as well. Our observation is this aspect of the Ecovacs is superior to the single side brush units in that as the vacuum passes close to an item in either direction a brush will move debris. Thus twice the opportunity to clean around a furniture leg, cabinet edge, etc. There are several cleaning modes to select from but on „auto“ the vacuum moves randomly but appears to make 2 or more passes over a particular spot. That said, because it is random in motion it most likely will miss a small spot or two but should get it next time. The remote is small and works well when you are line of sight with the unit. It is nice to pause cleaning using the remote if you need to move something or find the robot going somewhere you don’t want. Steering with the remote is easy and if the unit traps itself (under a desk behind the chair) you can steer it out rather than have it spend 2 or 3 minutes until it lines itself up just right. The charging station is very light and easy for the unit to displace while cleaning. A little velcro is your charging stations friend.Finding the charging station is sort of luck that depends on how many rooms/doors away the station is when the unit wants to go home. If it is line of sight then usually it will find it and dock. Our walls are very thick so we are not a good test case for a more modern construction type home and perhaps it might work better. Its not a problem – just pick up Rufus and put him down where he can sense the charging station signal. We just usually let him run about 90 minutes then go find him so he won’t run down under the desk or bed.Pros:1. Battery life is very good. Almost 2 hours on hardwood floors.2. Dust bin is large enough that unless things are very dirty you need only empty every return for charging.3. Quiet. Much quieter than others – especially on solid floors.4. Cleans up easily after use (and you need to clean it each time after full use)5. Very good brush action and suction- even on brick flooring with grooved joints.6. Seems gentler than Roomba on items it bumps into.7. Good power to get over thresholds.8. Price – this would be a good choice at full Amazon price. A bargain when on sale.Cons:1. Pleated paper filter is small and will need replacement sooner than most. (Not expensive).2. Beeps for problems/service are hard to hear from other rooms.3. Slows down slightly on carpet. Lots of carpet may affect run time.4. Smaller filters require filter cleaning after each use. (Easy to accomplish)5. Not for longer carpet, however works fine on our short decorative rugs. (No long fringe)Summary:We will have to see how Rufus holds up as time goes on but we are very satisfied with the Ecovacs for our home and its somewhat unique requirements. Our daughter has a very expensive Roomba in her home (with dogs and mostly carpet) and it works exceptionally well. We think on our solid surface floors and for our house type the Ecovacs is every bit as good at cleaning. If you have hard surface flooring and short nap rugs we recommend you give the Ecovacs N79S a through investigation. If your home is mostly carpet, particularly if it is thick or somewhat longer napped, you might look at another model.Disclaimer: We have no affiliation with Ecovacs or any other home product company.
