My favorite vaccum/mop combo
This thing is great. (The Deebot Ecovacs X1 omni). First of all, in response to another review, you can absolutely schedule tasks in the app [to an absurdly high degree]. I have my ecobot omni wake up every morning at 745 AM to clean three rooms, and each room has a customizable level of intensity for the mopping and the vacuuming. [Kitchen is on max everything, hallway on standard vacuum but heavy mop, etc]. You choose the order the rooms are cleaned in, and how thoroughly. It’s great. The app is not always the easiest to navigate, but the option to schedule tasks is there. Just go to AUTO mode in the app [as opposed to custom and area] and scroll down.Additionally, in response to another review, this robot is capable of resuming a task if it needs to stop and re-charge. However, you do have to go into settings to enable this feature. It’s not on by default.Third, if you have any issues with this thing — like it can’t find the base station — be sure to reset both the robot [flip the switch on the top, under the cover] and the base station [by unplugging it and plugging back in]. Fixes it for me.Anyway, here’s my review. Coming from a Roomba j7 and Braava Jet M3, there’s many massive positives:-Incredibly good at avoiding obstacles/wires and understanding its place in the house for routing. It doesn’t have to bump into everything like my roomba! It also navigates back to the base station very intelligently.-Didn’t take long to map the whole house fairly accurately with LIDAR. There were some inaccurate rooms but it was easy to fix with the map editor in the app.-Because it uses LIDAR to avoid obstacles and navigate, it works fine without the lights on. It also does not need a light on the robot.-App is very functional. Love that I can customize the intensity of mopping/vacuuming by room, select specific areas to clean [not just rooms, but areas within rooms using the app], adjust duration of heat-drying the mop pads, etc. I can also clearly specify keep-out zones, keep-out boundary lines, and set custom areas for cleaning if needed [ie, more specific zones than an individual room]. BUT — Keep out zones were not really needed. I was worried it would get stuck on the jumble of wires behind my sofa, but every time it just sees them and avoids them.-It alerts you when the clean water/dirty water is low, using spoken voice.-You can see the exact path your robot took when cleaning is done, and while it’s cleaning, traced in the app. Check out my attached screenshot. It shows a white trace of the robot’s exact path in cleaning three rooms. Note the kitchen got extra treatment, and the hallway and living room got one pass, as I instructed.-Ability to see video feed from robot, and speak through it like a radio, is a neat security feature. Videos can even be saved.-Aesthetically, the base station and the ecovacs itself look very slick. It’s like an apple product.-Magnetic design makes removing pieces/brushes super easy for replacement when needed.-It hot air drys the wet mops after cleaning! Can customize this to take 2 to 4 hours.-Great suction power, especially on the Max+ mode (although it’s quite loud)..-Good drop sensors to prevent falling off a cliff in your house.-easy to order replacement parts, both official and cheaper unofficial versions. i actually prefer some of the cheaper, unofficial mop pads more..-Love the voice assist. Don’t need to pair it to a phone or anything. Just say, OK YIKO and tell it what to do. You can even say ‚clean near me‘ and it will find you and start cleaning there. It occassionally thinks I said OK YIKO when I did not, but no big deal. Some downsides, which I view as minor:-Battery takes a long time to charge. I’d say I can have it running on max power for around 2 hours before it needs around 5-7 hours to charge. Fortunately it can clean most of my house in 2 hours, although it’s a small house.-You have to occasionally clean the base station. Not often, maybe once a month. On the bright side, there is a great maintenance video on YouTube that explains exactly how to do this (as well as how to maintain every other part on the robot) and it’s very straightforward and easy. The video is called „06 Deebot X1 OMNI Clean & Maintenance.“ I’d estimate it takes about 10 minutes to do all the required maintenance every month. You basically just scrub everything down and swap the pads/brushes/bag/filter if needed. The app reminds you of all this and keeps track.-Although the clean and dirty water tanks are each quite big, like 4L, I still find I have to empty /refill them once every couple of days (If I’m cleaning the house each day).-Every couple months or so, it bugs out in some way. Maybe it can’t find the base station or gets lost etc. Not a big deal. A quick reset fixes it.-The language translations to English, and the related issues, are a bit confusing. For example, I can label a room a „Tatami“ on my map, but not a „foyer.“ Additionally, emails I receive from Ecovacs, and the instruction manuals, have some obvious grammar errors. This is a pretty minor downside because it never really interferes with the usage of the product, but they should update this for clarity. It’s also very out of place on an expensive product like this.Overall, love this thing. LIDAR robots are the future.

A Very Solid Robot Vacuum
Let me start by saying this isn’t an uneducated review. This is my 3rd robot vacuum. My first one was a very, very old Roomba. I got it from my mom. It was terrible and only lasted about 2 days in our house but hey, it was free and like the 1st or second gen model. The 2nd and most recent try was with a Veavon V8 model about 6 months ago. At first I was super impressed but ended up returning it after a week because it was losing battery life quickly and continually got stuck on our rugs with a system error message. We decided that with Prime Day, we’d give the Ecovacs N8 Pro + a shot. We’ve used it for at least a week now.Pluses on this vacuum over the Veavon are that it comes with the auto-empty dust bin and is a more reputable company. The app is much more polished. Replacement maintenance parts are readily available.Negatives on this vacuum is that it still stalls on our rugs with „clean the dust sensors“ but this machine is way easier to manage over the Veavon. Our rugs have a very distinct dark/light pattern on them that I believe confuses the vacuums such that they think they are about to go off a cliff. The price on this unit is roughly $300 more expensive or practically double the cost of the Veavon. It’s still roughly $300 cheaper than the top of the line Roomba. Battery life on the N8 Pro + is less than the Veavon had at the beginning. I feel the vacuum should be able to fully clean the house on one pass without needing to recharge. When it had full power, the Veavon could do that. As the week went on, it stopped being able to. The N8 Pro + needs at least one full charge plus one partial charge to vacuum our house. Sometimes it takes 2 partial charges. As an FYI, the vacuum charges to a point in which it thinks it can finish the rest of the house and then heads out. Here’s why we are keeping it…1. The auto-empty dust bin is a must. Really makes maintenance on this vacuum a breeze. Only have to check the vacuum occasionally (weekly) for wrapped hair on the brush. The bin is loud. Pretty much as noisy as a full size cheap model vacuum. I agree with others that it is startling however it only happens when the robot goes back to charge. I can live with this for the convenience.2. The vacuum itself is quiet. Shockingly quiet. Even on turbo. Yes, we can hear it upstairs but it isn’t distracting. It’s quieter than any upright vacuum I’ve had. You can be in the room with this vacuum and have a conversation without really even noticing the vacuum is there running, once you’re used to it. The Veavon model was acceptably loud (still could hold conversations in the room with it running). This N8 Pro + is quieter.3. Suction. This N8 Pro + has good suction. We have two dogs and a kid. There are/were hair/dust bunnies everywhere. My wife also has longer hair. When we first got the N8 Pro + (called N8 from now on) I thought that because it was quieter that it wouldn’t have as much suction as the Veavon. I think it does have less however it is still good. It sucks up everything it should. The key, I think with any robot vacuum and a lot of activity in your home, is to have them vacuum often. We have ours set to vacuum at least some of the house daily. The first few times you use a robot vacuum, you will empty and clean the bot a lot. It has to make it through your house picking up everything that it can multiple times before its onboard dust bin can hold everything on one battery charge. The robot doesn’t know its bin is full! I plugged the robot’s bin full of dust, hair, and junk the first few times such that the auto-empty station wouldn’t suck the stuff out of the bin.4. Good brush roller. When we had the Veavon, almost every run, we had to take the brush off and clean it. Had to cut and unwrap the hair from it. I believe this is because the brush roll only had bristles. The N8 alternates between bristles and fins. Now, only longer hair gets caught and doesn’t need to be cleaned nearly as often. Like once a week. When we use upright vacuums, we find we have to clean the brush roller at least every other vacuuming so this little brush on this N8 does a good job.5. The app is nice. It is polished. The map doesn’t get messed up like the Veavon did. The Veavon’s was a mess. Always forgot itself and/or would get messed up in other ways. Scheduling works well in the Ecovacs app. No-go areas work well. Better than Veavon’s. Our N8 still ends up in a no-go area sometimes but that is likely due to our crazy patterned rugs messing with it. I’ll throw this note in here too that the N8 goes over thresholds well. Just as well as the Veavon did. Not a plus or a minus. Just similar. We have one significant threshold (almost an inch) and both robots handle it.Final notes: The plusses on this Ecovacs N8 outweigh the negatives for us. You need to give yourself and the vacuum about three days of constant vacuuming to get the map right and everything picked up such that it can work by itself from that point on. This is no different than the experience I had with the Veavon and I believe this is acceptable. We don’t have a good floor setup to use the mopping feature of the N8 so I haven’t considered that here. I find this vacuum is still worth it when not using that feature. The navigation on this robot is good. I feel it is better than the Veavon robot’s as it doesn’t rely so much on the bumper but it could still use work on colored rug patterns.

An efficient & fast vacuum cleaner + mop robot with many unique features in the mobile application!
The media could not be loaded.
My wife and I have owned two robot cleaners – the Neato brand model and other Uoni v980 plus that we have been using for 5 years for our home cleaning. And we recently got a Shark robot with a self-emptying model that eased our job of cleaning and replaced previous robots. However, we decided to try this one just for the scrubbing mop functionality. Have used it thrice during my last 1 week of owning this device and here is my take. I would highly recommend this as it is a complete package. Do note I tried the X1 turbo model before this and then decided to return that I take the Omni model since it gives you an additional self-emptying dirt bin too. My 2 cents below:Pros:- It functions very well as a vacuum robot cleaner. Cleans both hard floor and carpet efficiently and seems to be sensing where the robot is running- Suction pressure (up to 5,000PA) is very good and the app even gives you the option to select between multiple (4) levels- Simultaneous mop with vacuum is definitely an added feature and the spinning scrubber does it very well – It avoids mopping when on the carpet. Have not noticed wet carpets as of now – It does well in recognizing the obstacles in my experience – Inbuilt cameras let you monitor your home remotely. Can be used for 2-way talk as well – This robot has never been stuck to date during my operation. It tends to plan the navigation accurately and find out the escape from congested areas – Very easy to use and operate- Great build quality and feels premium overall- No-Go and No-mop zones can be set up easily through the app once the floor map is created. Multiple preferences option for the areas in the home map – Battery life is great. After the single charge, it completes cleaning half of my home (around 2200 square feet) when I use the mop+vacuum setting at high suction. Supposed to give up to 260 minutes of backup when run on silent mode- Decent capacity dirt box collector- Side rotatory brushes are big-sized and take out dirt from corners efficiently- The self-dispensing/cleaning station does everything for the vacuum & mopping needs. It cleans dirt bin, refills water, empty dirty water, and cleans mop pads along with cool air dry – The mobile app was easy to connect to and has tons of features. Refer to my attached pictures for details. Very comprehensive and has a lot more control than what my previous brand Robot cleaner offered. For example: setting cleaning sequence, Furniture cleaning mode, set tile vs carpet for areas- Control through the inbuilt YIKO voice assistant works great too and makes it convenient to use sometimes remotely- Voice narrative from the robot is nice to have. Ex: It says when it is going to self-clean or when the battery is low – Robot created home map accurately. I am even surprised that the very first time when I tried running, it already knew its charging base station accurately and returned without any issue. Has a quick mapping option that let you create the map easily and is pretty fast – 3D map optimization gives you more control to add the furniture and other products to the map – Child lock is a nice addition to the base station- Reasonably priced for the features it offers- Comes with extra brushes and mops- Detailed manual provided with all steps and troubleshooting details- Manufacturer provides long 12 months warranty as wellCons:- The base station is large in dimension, and also decently heavy. Probably the biggest I have ever seen in any robot – Definitely expensive in competition but unique technology for mop and premium features trade it off for us – Inbuilt cameras could be a little concerning for privacy reasons for many – Picture quality is not the best I have seen in cameras, especially when it is dark or there is direct light on the lens. I wish it had better cameras in it – Small thing but there is no option to add a custom name to the areas on the map

X1 Omni is Awesome, but recognize some of its limitations before buying
I have never owned a robot cleaner until I made this purchase of the X1 Omni. We purchased it primarily for the mopping function because nearly all of our house is tile and plank flooring. Overall I believe it to be pretty awesome machine!Lots of reviews here highlighting all of the great things that I won’t repeat. I do think it is important to purchase with some expectation that it is not perfect and will require your engagement/oversight. Here are some things I think some people may get pretty frustrated with:1. Sometimes it says it completes the scheduled cleaning, but only partially does so. If you want to finish the cleaning you have to manually trigger the remainder of the cleaning. Otherwise, just let it get it next time.2. I have to empty/fill water tanks every day I do a cleaning (again, we do lots of mopping). Some documents/reviews lead you to believe only occasional physical interaction.3. I have to clean the base station ’sink‘ at least once per week or it clogs up which prevents any cleaning.4. Batteries take quite a long time to re-charge. I get roughly 80-90 minutes of run time and recharging that is 6+ hours or so.5. The settings you use and the layout of your house affects things so don’t assume you will get same results and me (or anyone else). Example, you can use twice as much water by increasing water.6. The mapping is generally good, but periodically buggy – I have had to re-map a couple of times in a 2 months because the map became corrupt or lost. It is madding because you lose settings and requires more setup time. It also periodically just ignores rooms which seem to only be fixed by remapping or manually selecting an area for cleaning.7. If you want to use on carpet and mopping, it will require manual intervention (must physically remove mopping pads to vacuum carpets). Not a problem for me, but for some you may want to schedule certain days for carpet only and others for mopping.8. Instructions, videos and documents are useful only for very basic functions. You have to learn many things by playing with the app. Many things you’re going to have to figure out on your own or send support questions to them.9. Have decent WiFi setup. Buggy internet/WiFi connection may cause frustration in communication with the device and the features.10. The vacuum triggers my alarm motion sensors which I had to modify to not set the alarm off (but my 10 lb dog did not set off the sensors). Guessing the heat signature is greater for this. Noticed some reviews they have no problem.11. There are places you still have to manually clean.12. You have to keep floor clutter down to get a good cleaning. If you have ’stuff‘ all over your floors you are going to get spotty cleaning as the machine will work around the items. Example, on certain days we move things around to ensure everything gets cleaned – like once a week we pull all the chairs out from around our dining table to ensure we get a through cleaning under the table.13. It does well around bigger cords, but small cords like cell phone charging cords and ear bud wires it doesn’t seem to recognize and will sometimes grab up and even destroy (destroyed a pair of wired ear buds I had). I have also had it get caught on small cords from seat pant belts that were hanging in the closet with cords resting on floor.Bottom line, I really think this is a FANTASTIC machine but I monitor and tinker with it the app, cleaner and/or base for a few minutes nearly every day for some reason. It’s worth it to me and grateful for the job it does. However, if you expect something to just plug in and attend to once a week for a few minutes I think you may be disappointed (unless you have a small location).

Makes iRobot look like 1980s Tech! This is an awesome robot!
I have been a loyal customer of high end iRobot products for 10 years and with this purchase, that has changed. I was currently using the pair of iRobot i7+ and iRobot Braava jet m6 on a cleaning schedule to keep the house clean for the past 2 years. Prior to these models I owned the 900 series vacuum robot. Now that you have some history, let me say I have NEVER been impressed with iRobot. With every new iRobot model they make claims of Intelligence, superior mapping and cutting edge learning capabilities…..well all BS!My iRobots got stuck all the time! Put bluntly, the i7+ is STUPID! Not only did it regularly get stuck under furniture it obviously didn’t fit under, it also couldn’t navigate simple throw rugs and would get stuck on those as well. Another favorite place to get stuck, under kitchen cabinet overhangs. This happened in multiple homes, so nothing special about the furniture or cabinets. Also, the claim they learn where they get and avoid, or note this on their maps is total BS. This stupid robot would get stuck in the exact same place over and over and over. So, as far as AI goes….it has NONE! It also gets lost and can’t find its way home often even when nothing in the home has changed. It also loved to ram into everything full speed leaving dirt marks on all my furniture and base moldings. As I said, STUPID LOL.Now to the M6 mopper bashing. Equally as stupid, the mopper gets stuck on its own dock and throws an error, so instead of it mopping your floor after the vacuum has returned (if it returns) you find it stuck with a red ring. I found this was due to the wheel tread becoming worn (from tile?) and no longer having enough tread to get off the plastic parking pad. Also, this robot has the same navigation as the i7+, so just as stupid and also gets stuck on everything and lost. It also love to headbutt everything just like the i7+.Price for the iRobot pair was $1350 at time of purchase with a bundle deal. Not worth it at all!Lastly on the iRobot side, customer service is a Joke. They offer in app trouble shooting and customer service contact options, which I never got a single reply from them while having these issues. Even when trying to replace the worn tires on the M6, the part was out of stock every time I tried to purchase. iRobot might have been all the rave 10 years ago, but clearly they have gotten lazy and have not advanced with technology. They are now over priced junk. Do your self a favor and try Deebot! So finally to the Deebot….well, its fantastic! Mops and vacuums with one machine and truly is home automation. It cleans better then the iRobot hands down and is also half as loud doing it. It also NEVER hits objects. I only saw it touch a piece of furniture once and it was a love tap so soft I wasn’t sure it even made contact. It cleans itself (Vacuum and Mopping brushes) and auto fills is own water tank (M6 does none of this). It also has dual mapping capability so measures by laser and camera. It mapped my entire house in a single pass and that took 20 minutes. You can also watch its travels via the live active map or through its camera. As a reference, the iRobot i7+ took 3 mapping runs of 6-10 hours each to map the house. My house is a single story, open floor plan and 80% tile. The ECOVACS DEEBOT X1 is a fantastic machine. I would give it 5 stars, but the separation of rooms function in the mobile app could use some work. The robot does what’s its supposed to and is quiet, highly advanced and dependable, but the mapping options to set-up dividing of spaces and naming those spaces could use further development. iRobot does have a better app, but since the robots themselves are stupid as a newborn, it doesn’t matter LOL. If the Deebot had better room separation, naming and customization features (as found in the iRobot app) this device would be an absolute all star!!So is it worth $1500??? Hell yes! Its a fantastic technological wonder. I love my Yiko! ….“I’m here“ LOL

WORTH EVERY PENNY!
So many amazing features that they don’t even say in the details!! Here I go!! Keep in mind I didn’t get this product for free or get paid to write this review… BUT if you can wait for the X1 OMNI or T10 to go on sale, it will be less squeezing of your piggy bank (and peace of mind). I got my OMNI for $999 and the T10 for $899.First of all I wanted to know what was the difference between the new T10 and the OMNI was so I reached out to customer support and here’s what I found out…DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OMNI and NEW T10.Main difference is that the OMNI has a built in water tank INSIDE the vacuum/mop itself. The t10 only wets and cleans its mopping pad (still works well tho). BUT I would splurge another couple hundred (or wait for it to go on sale) for the OMNI! Definitely cleans the floor better! There’s so many awesome things to say it may be a long review. I’d just buy it and see how amazing it is! (Return it if you hate it but I bet you won’t!)When I first seen the price tag I almost fainted and wanted to vomit a little.. lol. But lucky me I ended up getting it for Christmas! For the past few months I been so happy with the product I ended up buying one for my parents! They watch my niece who is crawling and my poor father had to mop the house everyday. Now the floor is cleaned every day and they don’t even have to lift a finger! The floors feel cleaner than if you used a swifter or a mop! I put in a little bit of pinesol in my water tank and it cleans the floor even better! Don’t put too much because it will cause a lot of bubbles! If you figure paying a maid/house cleaner to clean your floors, it will end up costing you way more in the long run. Even for products you have to buy like swifters, etc. NOT to mention the TIME you save, which is precious! Ok back to the product itself… The tanks to hold the clean and dirty water are a good size so I change them once a day. The product is controlled via an app, so if you have not so techy parents, you can set it up on your phone and control it from your own home! You just have to teach them how to change/add water to the tanks! You can set an automatic start and schedule it for all hours of the day or week and make multiple different schedules! It even chooses what level of water you want it to disperse onto the floor AND you can make the vacuum at different sound levels/suction power, from super quiet to max. It’s easy to maintain and clean also! Be careful tho because the video quality is super good and you may end up seeing something you don’t want to 🙈. Luckily my parents are boring and I don’t watch the video much, but it’s good for when their home alone and not answering their phones, you can send the robot to check on them! You even get rewarded with points via the app for simply running your vacuum daily! You can use those points to get a discount in their shop to replace worn out parts, or even a new vacuum! However, they don’t ship to Hawaii but I bet with enough complaining, I’m crossing my fingers that they will change soon! There’s so many other things I’m missing but this review is getting too long! Any questions let me know!

Great features, major updates needed
Update:Ecovacs support has been outstanding in addressing the issues I’ve had with this product. Due to their active communication and willingness to ensure that I am satisfied as a customer I’ve updated the review to 4 stars.I have seen actual improvements in the short couple of weeks. The device has not lost the wireless connection since this review was posted and while the map has updated again it did retain the previous version which allowed me to restore it quickly.I am now confident that Ecovacs will continue to provide updates to the point where I’ll feel that a 5 star rating is appropriate.Original review:The Deebot X1 Omni does a great job of cleaning surfaces and the self-empty / auto-clean alone makes it the best floor care robot I’ve used to date. There are, however, problems. As a regular early adopter I am accustomed to products that ship with problems that are worked out with updates and this device has its fair share that I’ve encountered over the past 2 weeks.1- The object avoidance feature does not work as well as expected. While the device is supposed to be able to detect and avoid objects to include USB cables I’ve had to remove USB cables and pet toys from the main brush multiple times already.2- The robot has lost network connectivity and had to be re-joined about every 3 days. I have access points that provide strong wireless coverage across the entire house, there is no dead spot for the robot to lose coverage.3- The device sometimes reports „There is a communication malfunction between Deebot and the station“ and fails to auto-empty or self clean after running a cleaning cycle.4- I’ve had to remap the area twice in two weeks. For no good reason the map automatically updates and is no longer accurate for my home. This resulted in Deebot getting lost and not being able to find the station. After I manually returned it to the station it attempted to run a cycle using the wildly inaccurate map.5- The robot sometimes has trouble with transitions between rooms. It rolls over them with no problem at times, other times it appears to treat them like ledges and refuses to cross.Even with all of the problems, when it runs it does a great job.Unfortunately for the price these problems are excessive. If there is no major update before my return window closes I will be sending it back.

Decent vacuum, okay object avoidance, needs a better battery
I think this product did what it was designed for. I had an older version of their robot with LiDAR as well. The reason for the upgrade was the discount and my old vacuum was getting stuck in a lot of junk, so the object avoidance was a big priority. It seems to do “okay” with the avoidance, still gets tangled on wires that are just dangling on the floor, as I think it’s probably hard for the robot to detect this, especially if it’s not a camera. It gets confused on some of the thicker mats, such as my anti fatigue mat I have in front of the kitchen sink. It also gets confused and does multiple passes when it gets on our ratan carpet in the living room, and usually runs multiple passes over the edge before it navigates on. It can’t do our thick bathroom mats at all, so our bathroom gets untouched. The cleaning is a good enough clean for a daily/every other day maintenance clean with a dedicated vacuum using a larger one every couple of weeks. The mopping feature works, but I haven’t used it enough to make any major conclusions. It’s nice to have, but wasn’t my intention with getting this device. In terms of noise, it’s okay. It’s more noticeable than our old robot. It seems like it’s wheels are really stiff out of the box and makes clanky noises. I don’t know if this is what it’s suppose sound like, but it doesn’t seem to hamper its function. It does lack a bit of battery and usually can’t finish a whole run of my first floor, around 1000 sq ft of space on a single battery run, mix of both carpet and laminate. I did turn off the auto increase suction function, which would be great if it wouldn’t die so much faster and take a long time to recharge. It’s auto resume function doesn’t seem to do a good job in estimating how long it needs, as it always seems to want to charge to full before finishing its cleaning. The app, um what can I say, still a bit clunky, but has all the standard stuff like area clean, room identification, no vacuum zones, no mop zones, much better than my prior robot. Conclusion: good design, algorithm a bit janky, wish the battery was longer, good suction, good cleaning, needs a better app.I would have given it a 5 star if it wouldn’t get hung up on the carpet edges and my bathroom mats.I know these things are so expensive these days, wish it was $100 less, but hey that’s the market for these vacuums.

Yes it’s a robot vac, but take care if it and it it will take care of you!
It requires maintenance, especially if you use it to mop. I have two big pit bulls one is a German shepherd pit bull mix and he sheds a lot!!!! This thing keeps our floors spic and span and smelling great!!! The carpets are always clean too! But I find myself emptying and refilling the water compartments almost every other day. I run this vacuum constantly, however. It does not bother my dogs. Even on full power with the loud noise. Both my dogs are free to roam indoors and out to our big backyard. There is about 2,650 sqft to clean. It gets the job done! We don’t have to clean around the house as much! But we do need to clean and maintain the robot, which is a small ask. I’ve replaced the washing pads and the brushes and filters and emptied the bins about once a month. Also cleaned the water and scrubbed in the back of the compartment of the robot. I highly recommend this robot vacuum but it only works well if you maintain it and take care of it! Don’t just set it and forget it, inspect it after every use and make sure the bags don’t have to be emptied or the water compartments changed and that nothing is stuck in it, etc. we’ve had this vacuum for about a year now, this vacuum is well worth the purchase!Update: we have been using about a half cup of shark vacuums cleaner solution in water for our mop. It is lavender scent and works great! It is only $9 and less than half the price with more oz of solution than the Omni recommended brand. You can find it here.https://a.co/d/641Mw1bThe vacuum does take a long time to charge so it can take an entire day to clean 2,400 sq ft. We usually split up rooms so half the house in one day and the other half the other day.

Very pleased with only one set back
My old roommate had an ecovacs at our old apartment; now that I’ve moved out to my own place the first thing I did was buy an ecovacs of my own. Its become an essential part of my home; I love being able to notice dust or dirt that got dragged in and not have to lug out a vacuum cleaner to clean it.POSITIVES:The noise level is very reasonable and I dont have to blast the TV volume or put on subtitles when the device runs. The product does its job very well, and the proof is in the dustbin. Even if you run the device daily, it will always pick up enough dust and dirt to fill the dustbin after 1-2 cleaning sessions. Im always left astonished as to how much dust/dirt is constantly in my (seemingly) clean home that you dont see. Dustbin removal is quick and easy and once you get the hang of it, there should be 0 mess left behind. The app feature is an added bonus; if you’re out and know you’ll be having guests over when you return, you can turn on the device from anywhere. Obviously if the device gets stuck you cant fix that like you would if you were home, but the app sends a notification to alert you that the device is stuck. I find this particularly useful when I’m working from home, sometimes you dont realize it or here the device beeping, the notification lets you keep an eye on the device without having to physically watch it.NEGATIVE:The only negative I can say about this device is that it fails miserably to pick up Black objects in front of it, and will crash into them every time without fail. The legs of my coffee table/end tables are black, and I’ve had my downstairs neighbors complain that they keep hearing banging coming from upstairs when the device bangs into the legs of the furniture. Ive noticed the lighter objects color is, the better the sensor work towards noticing it. Very light colors like my walls, the device picks up with ease and slows well before it reaches them. The darker the object, the longer it takes for it to be picked up; for example my wooden furniture has a darker shade of brown, and the device slows down much closer to it than it would for light objects, occasionally tapping it but not with enough force to cause a bang. Black objects will be hit with full force every time and cause a bang. Ive been forced to put pieces of paper over the legs of my furniture so the device doesnt slam into them until I can find a more aesthetically pleasing alternative that doesnt make the furniture look ugly.I would highly recommend this product to anyone, but be mindful of the color of your furniture!

First use was fantastic. After that it was not as good.
IDK what happened, but after the first use this product was not as good at cleaning. It does an adequate job at picking up many things but skips a few, and IDK Why it does.We have a long-haired dog and the internal waste basket filled up fast from his hair. I had to clean it out manually 3 x now. When the cleaning is complete, the unit returns to the base to empty the internal basket, sometimes it does not do that. That results in reduced suction. This works best on bare floors. It has a hard time climbing onto rugs and does not clean rugs as well. If the rug has a fringe they recommended tucking the fringe under. If you do that the unit has a VERY hard time getting on the rug.

Amazing Vacuum
I’ve had a robovac for years, another brands flagship model, but it was getting old, only vacuumed, and I just read they are getting out of the business of making robovacs. I recently moved and now have all vinyl plank or tile floors (no carpet) and started looking for an upgrade with a mopping feature. So far I am impressed, the vacuum is just as good as my handheld one and my biggest worry was that the mopping might not be as good as advertised, but the mop really does a good job. I would say it does a better job than my wife, but I don’t want that trouble. I went with the X1 over the T10 because it has the ability to carry water in it, i figured that would be way better than it having to continually go back to the station just to wet the pads. My pros by far out way the cons so I’ll just list my cons I have after a few days of use.Cons–The app is fairly simple to use but could use a few more tools or be simplified even more, such as the ability to quickly cancel a job. It would also be nice to set up multiple cleaning styles within the scheduled cleaning. For example do one pass in the kitchen on Mon and Wed, then a double pass on Tues and Thurs.-I feel the battery drains pretty quickly. It last a good while if you are using the lower cleaning options but if you max everything out it’s going to have to go back and recharge. When it does go back it won’t start again till it is 100% charged which takes a few hours to get there.-As of right now you can’t pick the linear direction the robot will clean, for example the ability to have it clean in the direction planks are laid. Some other manufacturers have that as an option and I do hope that is added in a future update.Other than that, so far the robot has performed as advertised. If you are looking at YouTube reviews keep in mind that Ecovacs has updated the firmware recently which has corrected a lot of the issues and added some helpful features.

Smart Robot Vacuum Wunderkind
Over the years i have tried several smart vacuums over the years from several different companies and this is my favorite for some very important reasons. I love how it was thought out from an end users perspective. With a smart vacuum you want to set it down and forget about it – letting it do its job all throughout the house. This unit allows you to do that because the base unit not only sucks the dust out of the vacuum (which has become pretty common now a days) it also has a tank to store fresh water to fill up the mopping side, and a tank to suck up dirty water that it pulls back up off the ground from mopping. This means i literally don’t have to touch the vacuum by maybe once a week (to empty the dirt bin, dirty water, and refill the clean water) unless it has some catastrophic failure where it gets stuck or tangled up in something – and that doesn’t seem to happy very often.I found the mapping and intelligence built into this vacuum very smart. It was able to map out a very close facsimile of my home which allowed me to setup rooms for targeting and rooms to avoid. I set it to avoid my kids room because it is never in a condition to be ready to be vacuumed. The obstacle detection and avoidance is pretty impressive. It easily works it way around shoes and dog toys left in the living room. Overall the only thing that seems to trip it up is the rogue wire that will sometimes grab onto a back wheel. This thing is a little louder than some – but i attribute that to the incredibly strong suction it seems to have. The amount of dog hair and dirt it pulls off the floor always surprises me. I never think the floor is that dirty but it usually manages to shock me.This vacuum is definitely priced at a premium compared to other models but i have found that for the most part it warrants the premium put on it. It functions well, has the smarts to operate efficiently and has a feature rich base station that allows for owners to truly take as much of a hands off approach as possible.

We love our Deebot!
I am writing this review after 3 months of ownership, and I must say that we love this appliance so far (with some minor caveats that I will get into).I say „we“ because my wife loves how clean the house is since we acquired the ECOVACS Deebot N8 Pro (we call it DeeDeeBot). I love it because I am a technology nerd and I feel that by my interaction with it I am contributing to my wife’s pleasure in the enhanced cleanliness of our home and somehow „doing my part“ (LOL – I only direct and monitor its progress on my smartphone and marvel… and then yes, I clean it afterwards- but more on that next).First caveat, we do not have children or pets, so apart from what we carry on our clothes and shoes and the hair that falls off from everyone, we have relatively little dirt coming into our home. I run DeeDeeBot twice per week, once to vacuum the carpets in the bedrooms as well as the rugs in the living areas, and later with the mopping attachment for all of the hardwood floors. I am always amazed by how much dirt and hair gets collected in the vacuum dust bin weekly, and how dirty the mopping pad becomes in such a short time. The take away from this (apart from how quickly dirt gets into everyone’s home) is that you should empty its (very small) dust/dirt container, clean the dust filters, remove the hairs wrapped around the rollers, and clean the mopping pad very well after every use (or throw the latter away if you use the disposables, as they WILL be dirty). Just common sense; this is a small battery/operated vacuum that can clean under your couches and beds and thus do a much better job than your big vacuum that requires moving those heavy items but doesn’t need to be cleaned as often. The second caveat I think is not a deal breaker by any means to anyone considering buying this amazing vacuum, but is really more of an observation of how the product could be easily improved in its efficiency. And by that I mean that with the advanced state of cloud-service AI these days, the app’s cleaning grids and mapping algorithms could constantly improve after weeks and months of repeated use over the same areas. This data should be saved, compared, and optimized from the cloud during each use of the app and interfaced with the robot’s drivers and amazing 3-D sensors so that it becomes smarter about the coverage patterns and with less repetition over some of the areas to be cleaned. The bottom line, I think you can tell, is that we love this robotic appliance in our home and happily recommend it based on our current experience.

After 3 years if use!
Over all, I am very happy with this vacuum after 3 years. It does its job! Even though it says it mops.. mopping is relative.. I would say it dusts with water but for what it is, it does a good job on a daily basis. The only complaint I would have really is that if you have animals, it will not self empty hair. I have to go manually empty and clean it out each time due to the dog hair. Still saves me a TON of time! All in all, I would purchase it again.

Was good when it worked, but that was maybe 10% of the time
I have wasted hours upon hours of my life trying to get this vacuum to work and I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s more of a psychological torture device than a vacuum. Not only is it incredibly buggy for such an expensive product, it teases you with the promise of seeming like you fixed it, only for something else to go wrong three days later. With the time I’ve spent trying to make it work, I could have scrubbed every floor in my house with a toothbrush several times over. The worst part is that the vacuum and mop feature actually do a really good job cleaning the floors, but I barely remember what that was like at this point. Within a week I started having issues and after 6 months of light use, it’s nearly unsuable. Among the many problems I’ve had, the worst are:- The mop feature stopped working after about 3 months because the pump in the base station stopped refilling the reservoir. Despite spending literal hours following the troubleshooting instructions from customer support, it’s nonfunctional and the company won’t replace it. Since the mop function was most of why I bought the machine, kind of an issue.- It constantly forgets the map for no apparent reason despite the map being clearly visible in the app. For a while, I could get it to work by doing an elaborate routine (per customer service) of manually turning of the unit for several minutes, rebooting the base station, sending the robot back to the station, and trying again (which honestly probably took longer than it would have to just vacuum myself). This has happened probably once every one to two weeks since I started using the machine, and over the last two weeks it happens literally every time I use the vacuum. The only way I can use it now it to put it in auto clean mode and let it bumble around aimlessly and eventually covering most of the floor space. Oh, and then it forgets the new map it just made and gets lost again.- The dustbin clogs frequently and doesn’t fully empty, but the robot apparently has no way to notice this and carries on about its merry way scattering the dirt it can’t pick up all around my house. Yesterday I ran the vacuum while I was in the shower and came out to floors that were literally dirtier than they were before they were vacuumed. Almost weekly I have to pull apart the brush compartment and manually unclog the dust bin, which is super pleasant and definitely the user experience I was looking for when I spent $1000 on a self cleaning vacuum.- I foster rescue animals and went with Ecovacs because they advertised that it would avoid dog poop. The disgusting messes I’ve now had to clean up twice determined that was a lie. So now I only use it when I’m at home and can supervise both dogs and the vacuum, again defeating the purpose of why I bought it.- Even though it gets lost three feet from the base, it will always find the one power cord I forgot to put away and immediately try to hang itself.- If it encounters an issue during cleaning (which you’ve probably surmised is often), it will frequently just announce it with the device speaker but the app won’t tell me what it said if I didn’t happen to be standing within a few feet of the robot when it made it’s announcement. Also, it’s hard to hear said announcements over the vacuum. Would have thought a vacuum company would realize vacuums make noise, but oh well.I have been so disappointed in this product. When the mop worked and the software functioned correctly, it actually did a great job cleaning the floors, so I’ve invested so much time and frustration trying to get it to work, but I’m about to throw in the towel.

A must have for a home with pets
My two short haired dogs shed more than I realized. When I installed new laminate floors, I was driving myself crazy trying to keep up. After researching robot vacuums, I was so confused. There are so many opinions and such a huge price range between brands and models, that I took a chance. I didn’t particularly look for a mopping cleaner but it’s a nice bonus that I haven’t used yet. At this relatively lower price point I wasn’t expecting a lot. I’ve been using it daily and cannot believe how much it picks up. It’s not perfect, but it’s probably as good as I would do. The mapping is decent. There’s only on threshold that it gets stuck on – like a beached turtle. It’s a bathroom transition from laminate to tile and is a little high. The vacuum backs itself off, but if I’m around when it’s running, I give it a nudge. So why only four stars? I’m very app savvy and this one stinks. Thus, I only do the basic daily cleaning. I’ll update if/when I try the mop feature.

Life. Changing.
I bought this for my daughter. She said:This robot vacuum is a life-changer! I looked into iRobot and other robot vacuum cleaners a few years ago, but I was put off by the seemingly complicated, clunky, and time-consuming mapping and magnet boundaries. So, I didn’t get one. Then. But, I still hated pushing a big, clunky, noisy vacuum around. Added to that, I got pet budgies. They are fun, but, oh my gosh, their food and feathers get everywhere! By the cage, in their play area, outside their domain in the living room, kitchen, bathroom, my bed- Everywhere! To make it worse, they despise the broom. To them, brooms are evil, vile, dangerous things. They riot at the mere sight of one! After a year of working and finishing a master’s program, I was tired and weary and had let my home go. I wanted help getting back on track. So, I decided to look into robot vacuums one more time. Then, I asked for one. They’ve come so far! This little guy (Botie) is now indispensable to my housekeeping routine. Setting him up and mapping with the app was a breeze: Just set all the things that move around often (ottomans, trash cans) up off the floor for the first 3 times so he can get a better lay of the land. He empties himself (with a little help on occasion with all those feathers!) and navigates the changing landscape with ease: Ottoman in a new spot? No problem! He figures his way around it. Sock on the floor? He’ll scoot on by it. I picked this particular model because of the lower price and because it can go over .75” transitions. I have a transition that’s close to that, but Botie handles it with ease! Does he clean hardwood and carpet? You bet he does! The first night I let him sweep the bird room with some trepidation: Would the birds, all snug on their perches for the night, wake and deem Botie a fearsome monster? Not at all! They slept right through his cleaning and have every night since. He is very quiet. The only time sounds like a regular vacuum is when he empties his dustbin when he’s done cleaning. Botie does get a little hung up on some things. He gets caught on shag rugs, needs practice with area rugs to perfect his technique so they don’t slide all over, and has yet to master a cushioned mat by the sink. When he needs help, Botie nicely has the app send a message asking me for assistance. It’s adorable! To me, these quirks are small matters. I simply pick up the shag bathroom rug and cushioned mat before releasing Botie to eat all the dirt, crumbs, and feathers he wants. Thank you, Botie!

Almost perfect robot vacuum with mopping feature
I had previously written a negative review on this vacuum due to the inability of the machine to reliably drain the dirty water from the „sink“ at the bottom of the docking station.I’m happy to report that the replacement machine has fixed this issue and has been reliable for about a month. The machine continuously and reliably cleans my home, avoids most obstacles, and „cleans itself“ for the most part. I’m pretty happy with it and I’ve done a side-by-side comparison with my old iRobot.Pros:* The Ecovac does a great job at navigation, avoiding most obstacles (still gets confused by some pieces of furniture) and returning back to base at the end of its work. It’s significantly better than the bump-and-run iRobot.* The mopping function has turned out to be a great feature and saves a lot of time. I wouldn’t say the floors sparkle, but the amount of crud in the dirty water bin is astounding.* The mobile app does provide a good benefit once your house is properly mapped (it took a few tries here). You can set zones and schedules and fine-tune your ecovacs setting.* You can see the progress of the machine and the stats on the mobile app.Needs improvement* The water tanks are a bit small. I need to refill/drain them almost every day. YMMV but this is on default setting on about 1800sf of hard floors. If you’re expecting to set it and forget it for weeks/months, that’s not going to happen.* There are a few software glitches. The machine „forgets“ to continue cleaning if it returns to base to recharge. That means that some areas of the home get cleaned more than others. It doesn’t understand time zones or daylight savings time correctly so your schedules will not adjust properly on those dates. The mobile app could use some usability fit/finish improvements.* I feel that the vacuum power is a bit lacking. It doesn’t pick up as much dust/dirt as my old iRobot, but it does often complain the dust bag in the dock needs to be replaced (it’s almost empty). That said, I don’t see debris or dust on the floor after it runs.* The voice response „OK YIKO“ is a good idea, but it doesn’t work all that well. Sometimes it doesn’t hear the trigger word or fails to understand me. It also seems silly to talk to a vacuum on the floor (just my opinion) especially needing to be right above it. I feel like I’m scolding a pet :)* I don’t need it (and actually don’t want it), but the video chat feature of the vacuum doesn’t work for me.Overall, for the last month this has turned out to be a great device and the customer service team at Ecovacs seems to have improved a lot in answering questions/concerns.

Battery size is way to small
Love everything about this vac except the battery size. Bought it to replace my old vac that I loved and did not realize they reduced the battery capacity. I have a small house with limited obstructions and it has to recharge at least once and sometimes two or three times to complete one cleaning. Other than that I am very pleased.

UPDATED Review, November 2022 – Happy Customer!
Below this review, you will find my original review of the Deebot X1 OmniMy previous review incited Smart Home Robotics to reach out to inquire how they could make my experience with their robot better. They offered a replacement or a refund. After some conversation back and forth, I chose to go with the replacement. And I’m glad I did!!Working with customer service was wonderful and easy. They were kind, understanding, and courteous. I felt heard and seen, and I believe they cared that I had a positive experience with their product. They answered all my questions and addressed all my concerns beautifully. I am grateful for their time and diligence because, during this first week with my replacement, I am thrilled!- My setup only took 5 minutes as opposed to HOURS spread over two days!- The firmware updated with all the new features, whereas the other one wouldn’t update- This robot has never been offline since I set it up, unlike the last one, which rarely stayed online. I had to shut it down and reboot it EVERY TIME I used it. That is not the case anymore.- This robot has not gotten stuck once! Where the last one „got stuck“ ALL THE TIME when in fact, it just needed to turn 90 degrees rather than 20 to get away from the wall.- I don’t have to babysit this robot, unlike the last one. I can leave the room or house and trust it will do its job. AND I can SEE that it did its job because it stays online and shows me where it has been and where it is. The time savings is HUGE! As the robot works, I can get so many other things accomplished! Seriously, HOURS are saved every week.In short, my issues are no longer there. I am thankful for the diligence of the customer service team and how well they worked with me. They were wonderful. And like I said, I will give another update in January 2023 once this robot encounters a Minnesota winter and the mess that comes with it.The only thing I would change is the battery life. It is a little too short for my home. Also, I wish there was a way to change the robot’s name when you speak to it. For example, Darcy rather than Yiko. And would like to program some of my commands.================================================================================Setting up the Deebot was not simple or intuitive. The website, app, and manual are minimal at best. It was a lot of trial and error. But once I got it running it works beautifully–most of the time. The vac routinely disconnects from the server, which means it disconnects from the app. It also „gets stuck“ in an open area; it just bumped against a wall and didn’t turn itself around to get „unstuck.“So while the vac is working, I am sure to be doing other things in the vicinity to make sure I can hear it’s complaints and set it back on course. That said, the daily vacuuming and regular mopping are wonderful. My house is much cleaner and picked up making it more comfortable and peaceful (for me anyway). If you are willing to be patient, I would recommend this product. And from what I’ve heard from others who own robots, my complaints are „normal.“

Survived cat food incident
This is my third robotic vacuum and I’ve used it for about 2 months now. The previous vacuums were Roombas (back when I had the money for one), so that’s going to be my comparison.Pros:- MUCH cheaper than the Roombas.- MUCH more quiet than the Roombas.- Relatively good at cleaning the floor. I believe the Roombas did a better job, but I ran those on a schedule every day. The Deebot I don’t run every day (see Cons for explanation), so it’s not really a fair comparison.- This vacuum survived the „cat food incident“ (explained later).Cons:- For my home, you have to babysit this vacuum. It’s not a „set it and forget it“ device like the Roombas I’ve had in the past. The most annoying thing about this product is it gets hung up on the smallest bumps and transitions. I run the vacuum mostly downstairs on laminate flooring. It gets hung up on the fireplace transition and the transitions between rooms (laundry area, bathroom, and kitchen). I now close the doors to the laundry and bathroom every time I run the Deebot. The 2 hours that it runs, I have to „save“ it from the fireplace and kitchen transitions anywhere from 4-10 times. SUPER ANNOYING!- As others have said, it’s not very smart and does not map. It will vacuum the same area ten times and leave several other areas untouched. You get what you pay for; I believe a more expensive version of this vacuum has mapping. This vacuum is more quantity than quality; if you run it frequently, it will eventually vacuum every spot.- Compared to the Roomba, the dust bin is not great. It’s smaller and much more difficult to empty and clean. I believe this is going to be an issue down the road.- As others have stated, it doesn’t always find it’s base again. I don’t really find this to be a big deal because–as stated before–I babysit the machine while it’s running. If it stops someplace else, I simply pick it up, empty the dustbin, and return it to it’s base. If you are running the vacuum on schedule, this is going to be more of a problem. You have to empty the dustbin on a regular basis anyway, so make it part of your routine to do that and return it to it’s base. Now for a short story about the cat food incident… I have two cats and we feed them moist cat food in the evening. I put the food in soup bowls; the vacuum pushes the bowls around the kitchen–no harm, no foul. Except one night my son put the cat food on little plates. I heard the usual noises of the vacuum pushing the cat food „bowls“ around, heard a few other odds noises, but I pushed it out of the realm of possibility that there was a problem. It wasn’t until about 30-45 minutes later that it dawned on me that things didn’t sound right. I went downstairs to find the vacuum running, but oddly the cat’s had already eaten all of their wet food. Or so I initially thought. Then it slowly dawned on me that the vacuum had run over the plates, sucked up some of the food, and flung the rest E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E…. There was wet cat food all over the baseboards, 2 feet up the walls and cabinets, and the thinnest layer of cat food spread all over the tile floor. I spent the next 2 hours cleaning cat food off my kitchen and out of the vacuum, which was covered inside and out as well. I cleaned it, let it dry over night, and the next day knocked out any remaining bits that I couldn’t reach the night before. I have a little post-traumatic stress after the ordeal, but the vacuum survived, so that’s a plus in my book. All in all, for the money, I believe it was a good purchase, even with the listed cons. I’m not in the position to shell out the money for a Roomba nowadays; I’m a single, working mom so–for the price–it’s been a good purchase and helped me get one major thing off my ‚to do‘ list.

The jury is still out…
I’ve had the N8 Pro + for almost a month, and I’m still evaluating to see if it’s worth 3X the price of my older no-intelligence iRobot 690. It’s taken me all this time to actually create a map of my house so that I could divide it into zones. Since I had to vacuum the entire floor to create a map was frustrating, because it had to go recharge the battery for several hours to finish mapping. I had closed the door to the bathroom when creating the map, since I didn’t want it to vacuum that room, but the map creation took so long (with the battery recharge), then when it resumed mapping several hours later, someone had left the bathroom door open, which messed up the mapping, and I had to start the process all over again! So now that I have finally created a map, I will see if I can reliably schedule the bot to vacuum unattended without getting tangled with objects or stopping because of some warning, like “brush needs cleaning”. It was not able to map my entire floor without it stopping for some error, but I’m hoping I will not have this problem by dividing the house into smaller zones. BTW, I’m just talking about one floor of my house, 840 sq ft. The multiple floor mapping feature is a non-starter for me, because I’d have to move the base station between floors for it to work, and that defeats the whole scheduling feature. As others have mentioned, the dust bin is small and fills up fast, and the auto-empty feature is not effective in getting all the dust out. There are two small 1” holes that it sucks the dust through, and if there’s any hair involved, it won’t go through the holes. So this will not be a set it and forget it experience that I had hoped for. But hopefully an improvement over my iRobot, which always wedged itself under my bed frame, causing me to constantly get it unstuck!I’ve used the mopping feature once, and it did a decent job of mopping dust off the laminate floor, but it’s not going to mop up stains.I’ll update this review after using this in the Schedule mode for awhile.UPDATE 3/15/22: After my initial issues getting areas defined, I have been successfully using the Deebot to vacuum and mop defined areas. Once, when we had a power outage for a couple of days, I was upset that it lost the map. I was instructed to press the reset button and the map came back!UPDATE 5/11/22: I have been using the Debot for almost 2 years and it’s proven to be very valuable, it picks up a tremendous amount of dirt even when vacuuming every few days! I don’t trust it enough to schedule it on a regular basis to vacuum when I’m not there, seems something always happens that causes it not to finish the job. Either the dust bin won’t empty right (dust/lint gets stuck in the little emptying doors), or it randomly sometimes doesn’t vacuum the whole area, or sometimes it vacuums very inefficiently and keeps going over the same areas until it’s used up the battery. Today it stopped under the bed and had an error that the main brush/roller was jammed, even though I could not find anything wrong. But overall, it’s much better than my old Roomba that has no intelligence and just randomly cleans.UPDATE: After moving to SoCal in a different house, I haven’t had any of the above mentioned problems, programmed fine, and the dust bin empties reliably!!!

Great machine
EDIT:Even though Ecovacs didn’t damage the unit they offered to replace it! Blown away by their customer service! So the machine is quite cool. However our water intake didn’t work so I contacted Ecovacs and they were going to fix it. I submitted a video of its perfect exterior condition- I’m talking peeled off plastic film new! I sent it out, it took two weeks to fix and they sent it back. DAMAGED! So I of course contacted them upset, turns out it arrived to them damaged and they didn’t tell me even though they had the proof it was in perfect condition when I sent it out to them. Then when I called to ask why I wasn’t notified and what the fix is for this they told me they could “send me the emails about when it arrived” …. I have those and they didn’t tell me it was damaged!! And they can’t fix the damage and to contact UPS and take it up with them.So if your product is damaged do NOT send it in for repair. Just return it to Amazon and order a new one.

Interesting robot
This thing has had its funny moments from deciding to go hang out and sleep mode under my bed when its supposed to be cleaning the living room to going out of its way to beeline it over to the other side of the house and start running over some cables we had on the ground while we built a desk from the complete opposite end of the house it was supposed to be cleaning, It really is a toddler and has a mind of its own sometimes. Now besides it doing what it wants on its own sometimes it really is a good vacuum, does well picking up things off the floor and the floor washing isnt bad either though do note dont expect this thing to completely take over long term cleaning for you. The station does well at emptying the bin automatically and it will was the pads fairly well as long as you’re not trying to have it clean up a large mess. The things I dont like on it however is its ability to maneuver around with the mop heads on it, it cannot get over the lip of carpets with them on unless your carpet is literally flush with the hard floor so I have to carry it around. Sometimes I have to yell „ok yiko“ just to have the voice activation start to tell it to do something. (you can use the phone app to have it do things too or just push the button on the station to have it do a full house clean) As for keeping the robot clean even though the station can empty the bin and wash the mop pads it wont just clean the robot itself which can get dusty fast and cover sensors so I have to clean the robot every 3-4 uses to keep it optimal. Is this vacuum annoying sometimes? Yes, yes it very much is. Do I regret buying it? No, I dont think I do. The vacuum is fun to have around and it does keep my place cleaner and I do not mind spending 20 minutes every Sunday cleaning the unit, it is entertaining to watch it do its thing and provides me a laugh or 2 when it decides to just act like a toddler. Just make sure to maintain the unit and maybe just setup the station on the hardfloor if you dont want to be carrying it back to the station when its done mopping and unable to clear that 3/8″ lift on the carpet. ( Do note when the mopping pads are off I had no issues with it going from hard flooring to carpet, that is when the advertised floor offset it can go over is true)

Better than most reviewers have indicated, a great value considering the total package.
I have owned a few robot vacuums, most of them from Ecovacs and have been mostly happy with those purchases. Before this unit, my main floor Deebot was the 900, which has been retired to upstairs area. The main thing that drew me to the 900 was one of the first lidar based robots which did a pretty good job over the last few years avoiding obstacles, but it was never perfect even after years of updates. I was very reluctant to trust that the new models have come much further, but I can say I was happily wrong.Initial unboxing and setup was straight forward, especially if you have ever used any robot vacuums. It was interesting to see the auto empty unit was already loaded with a vacuum bag, but others have noted the same thing. It is very possible they quality test the unit in the factory and load the first bag for this test. Not an issue. I placed the auto empty station next to the older 900 unit and its dock, and docked the N8 Pro+ robot after attaching the 2 side sweeping brushes and removing the protection sleeves with the pull tabs. Powered on the toggle switch and the unit indicated it was charging. I used the QR code found under the top cover to download the app (different from the old Ecovacs Deebot app, the Ecovacs Deebot 2017 app, and now called Ecovacs Home). The newer UI on the most recent app is more intuitive and better tools for map managing than the older 2 apps were. This was a welcome finding that they have updated this. The app setup is a bit annoying it that it wants to map the house before any other options are available, so just note setting up no go „walls“, rooms, new names, etc are not shown on the UI until the completion of the first cleaning run. Also to note, make sure you have the auto empty station dock flat against a wall that is somehow perpendicular to your house design. This was a major headache if you don’t do this. What I mean is if your house is mostly a rectangle or square layout, make sure the wall you start with is 90 degrees to your home layout and not against a wall that is diagonal or circular to your house layout, otherwise, your home map will be weirdly placed on the map it generates forever and all time. You cannot (under the latest version as of 5-28-21) rotate the map once it is generated and the robot/app situates the map of the home based off the angles it detects on first undocking. So if the wall behind the dock isnt flat and perpendicular to the other walls, it may layout your map diagonally. This may not seem like any particular issue until you go to edit your map, generate zones, place no go walls, etc, because the map only uses rectangles to set zones and no mop areas and if you map is off on a diagonal direction, you will have no way to easily set these areas other than virtual no go „walls“ which can be diagonal. This seems like a very big oversight and something that could easily be fixed, but there is no current provision for this and will force you to reset the entire map and start all over again. Not the end of the world, but quite an annoyance if you are not aware of what is going on. Hopefully this saves someone that pain. Now for my first cleaning. That main reason I wanted to get this unit is the improved obstacle detection. I hate having to prepare the house for a run so that it doesnt get stuck anywhere only to come find it got stuck and a large reason my last vac didnt just run on a constant schedule. In a large home (4000 sqft) with 2 kids and a dog, it was really awful to assume it would run nonstop without issue. The old unit had horrible times with anything dangling from any possible reach. It was also bad about getting hung up on low pass areas under coffee tables, end tables, etc. This unit happily is not having those issues. The front sensors seem a lot more capable of sensing things it cant fit under perfectly and the map allowed to easily prevent any future (investigations) of those areas where it would only find it couldnt fit. Be very aware, it is known that the first mapping pass takes MUCH longer for the unit to finish and will almost always not happen in the first go and require a recharge and resume. This is as designed as the unit takes extra time to map the area more closely. Once a map exists, the unit will traverse a lot more efficiently and take less time to investigate areas.I did notice this unit struggled slightly more than the 900 with tall rugs, at least at first, but then somehow it seemed to „learn“ something and employ a turn around backup maneuver to get up on the rug in reverse since it has more clearance, turn around, and proceed to clean the rest of the rug (a tall pile rug on hard wood floor). I thought at first this would be a fluke, and it just happened to get up on the carpet this way, but multiple cleanings and it still does this to get over the lip of the tall pile rug. I really like the new mapping feature that detects carpet versus hardwood/tile and puts this on the map, even door mats that are carpet. This causes the vacuum to increase suction while over these areas which is a very welcomed feature. My family has already noted, this one if much quieter than the 900 and any other vacuum we have ever used while running. Slight increase over carpet, but being that it is now over carpet, not that audible since it is dampened by the carpet itself.Battery life, many indicate how this has less battery capacity then the last unit, and this is true, but I feel this is a cost cutting measure and not something that is a real issue with the unit. In my opinion, this unit is used differently from before as you can let it run more constant scheduling since it is more capable and can auto empty. When you free your mind to this concept and use it that way, battery life is much less an issue. On the initial run, it needed another charge to finish the entire 1st floor, but subsequent runs can finish on 1 run as it takes 84 minutes to complete the whole floor with some room to spare. If you schedule rooms alternating, etc, you should never run into an issue. The do not disturb times allow you to set this and sort of forget it. Just check the vac bag in the unit from time to time for fullness. One thing I want to mention from the old unit, the old unit was HORRIBLE at returning to the dock to charge, the N8 Pro+ is a lot better at finding the way back to the dock. The old unit would sometimes go in the opposite direction to get home first and sometimes run out of power while trying to find its way back. This unit generally drives right to it. Much better.

super awesome maid!!!
The media could not be loaded.
First of all, I was very surprised when this was delivered to my front door, I would have never thought that it was this big, as you can see from my pictures, the box itself is huge and pretty heavy. However, everything was very well padded and protected, so all the pieces were in pristine condition upon unpack. Setting up this robot was very easy, just had to remove some of the padding protective foam piece around the robot and the docking unit, then install the app (I already have it installed on my phone since I also have another Deebot that I purchased about 3 yrs ago, which is still working great but I want to have a more autonomous robot that can do mopping and cleaning all in one), and last step is to configure the wifi connection for the robot. Everything took less than 10 minutes do.The things I really like about this new robot are:1) The built-in real time mapping system using DToF Lidar, which basically emit light pulse from the laser unit on top of the robot as it moves around and detect walls and obstacle and accurate draw a 3D representation of your house in its memory. The app also display the map that the robot draw and I gotta say, it’s pretty darn accurate.2) This robot can do vacuuming and mopping at the same time (if the mopping heads are attached to it, else it will only does vacuuming).3) It’s like having a real maid that can clean my house. It can empty the dust bin on the robot into the dust bag (which is removeable and replaceable) whenever the bin on the robot is full. Also, when it does mopping, as long as there’s water available inside the „clean water“ container, it would rinse and fill the water container on the robot as it’s cleaning my house. At the end of the cycle, I only have to empty out the „dirty water“ container and nothing else, since it also washes the mopping pad and air dry it at the end of the cleaning cycle.4) The robot has built-in camera and speaker/mic, so I can actually use it to observe its operation from my phone remotely, or even try to use it to call or get attention of anyone’s at home when i’m away and they’re not answering my phone because I can actually tell the robot to go to a specific location on the map that it drawn. This is very useful to have.5) The android app version works great, all the features are very friendly to use.Overall, this is the most sophisticated cleaning robot I have so far and I’m loving it. The only improvement I wish to have is they they include some sample cleaning solution (available for purchase separately) so that I can see if they are more effective than using just plain water. It’s a very pricey machine, but super worth it.

Not a bad machine when you get it dialed in
I’ll get the negative points out of the way to begin with. The battery life is decent if you’re using the standard suction strength, but if you’re using the higher-power suction modes it runs out pretty quickly. If you’ve got a multi-level mansion then this bot isn’t going to clean it all in one charge, but it does have recharge and resume to cover those situations. The initial mapping of your place is an important part of making this thing work correctly/efficiently, so you do have to make an effort to watch the bot and make sure it gets a good read on its initial mapping run. I had a not insignificant amount of trouble getting a proper map of my place done because I have a threshold in my home that goes from vinyl flooring to quite thick carpeting, making for a sudden elevation change of over an inch. The N8 didn’t like that at all during initial mapping runs, and refused to cross the threshold to map my bedroom. After trying a few different things, I found that moving my charging base to the bedroom and starting the mapping run from there solved the problem. It’s got no issue with descending from the carpet to the vinyl, and because the charging base is in the bedroom, the bot is smart enough to know that it can get back where it came from and charges right back up the threshold again when it needs to.As for the cleaning itself, I’ve been mostly impressed with its performance. Always picks up plenty of dust, crumbs, hair, etc., and the bin is well-designed and easy to empty out (I didn’t splurge for the self-emptying bin). The one big issue I’ve had is with carpets that have long tassels. When it runs over the tassels more often than not it flips them so they stand vertically, then on the way back the now-standing tassels trigger the object avoidance. This turns the bot’s cleaning path from clean lines back and forth to a meandering modern-art painting when viewed in the app, and makes cleaning much slower and less efficient. They say to tuck your tassels in under the carpet, but the one I have is quite old and stiff, and that turns the edges of the carpet from a potential obstacle to a guaranteed one.Mopping performance is best when water flow is set to its highest level, just be aware that this will drain the water tank quickly.tl;dr: Average battery life, somewhat finicky mapping, object avoidance sensors are imperfect. But, build quality, physical design, and cleaning are great, and I’ve had no significant issues with the app. I’d recommend it to someone willing to futz with settings and charging base positions to get the best experience, not necessarily to someone who wants a quick and easy out-of-box experience. I got this bot at a good discount (think I paid $300), so I’m satisfied with price/performance.

Life Changer!
I used to own an iRobot and the experience was just bad. First it doesn’t get the work done. (For example my kitchen would still be greasy after the clean.) Second, it got stuck all the time and I had to pick it up… Finally it’s loud and my pet doesn’t like it. So when my friend recommended me Ecovacs X1 I was skeptical, but was finally persuaded to give it a try, and I would say that was one of the best decisions I made for my home improvement! The X1 has the standard vacuum function which does its job OK, but what impress me the most are mapping and mopping functions. For the mapping function, it uses the sensor and camera on the machine to model the map of the house and show it in the phone. I am surprised how accurate it can be. This function allows me to easily command X1 to clean a designated room or area when needed. Moreover, I sometimes use the camera function to see what my dog is doing when I am not home. The mopping function is even more impressive. I would say it cleans even better than me… I wonder how X1 did it but apparently the “6N downward pressure and 180r/min of rotation speed” is very effective. I never knew my home was this dirty after X1 did its first deep clean and I saw the water tank with dark wasted water. Speaking of that, the auto self-cleaning is another jaw-dropping function. After mopping, X1 goes back to its station and offloads the dirts from its vacuum to the garbage bag, and cleans the mop itself with water from the clean tank. All I really need to do is to replace the garbage bag and water tanks once in a while. In addition, X1 can just vacuum and not mop so it can be used on the carpet and rugs.Overall, it’s not cheap, but I would say it definitely worth the money. I am lazy but also like to keep my room clean. With Ecovacs X1, it made my life so much easier. It is indeed a life changer!

Life-changing
I went to a friends house and her robot vacuum was working. She told me how great it was. She just retired from tech industry and if it were anybody else I would have dismissed it. We moved into a new home at the beach with our two dogs. We’re constantly bringing sand and other dirt in even though we have a no shoes policy inside our home. I was sick and tired of bringing out the mop and broom. I did some research and even though I didn’t want to spend the money (I bought this when it was $1599) I decided to go for it. When my husband found out that I ordered it, he flipped out. When roomba first came out, 15-20+ years ago, I bought one and we had a hard time setting it up and getting it to work. We have now had it for 7 weeks and we love it! So easy to set-up. The charging station was bigger than I anticipated and heavier—even without the water storage. The first time I used it, the hardest part was figuring out how to use the app. Customer service tried to be helpful but the language barrier was difficult to overcome. My husband and I watched some YouTube videos on it and those helped. On the app, there are ways to use quadrangles and lines to delineate where the robot should go. For me, this was the biggest hurdle to learn in order to max out our robot’s performance. We have large treads for our patio doors and we have a lot of them-about 60 linear feet. At first we watched the robot get stuck trying to vacuum them. Once I placed boundary lines where the treads were, cleaning improved. Other than that, the robot does a quick map of your home, including furniture. It does go around my dogs. When we first got it, we had work going on in some rooms, that we told it not to go into. After work was done, I removed the boundary lines and I didn’t even need to have it remap. It just went in and cleaned those rooms since it detected those rooms were there on its first mapping run. We have had towels, boxes, dog toys, and shoes on the floor when it runs and we haven’t had any issues with those. It hasn’t gotten any of our upholstered furniture wet or dirty and hasn’t dinged up any walls, doors, or furniture. We are still getting boxes and artwork delivered and I was nervous it would run into the art frames but we haven’t had any issues. We have tile and wood floors, museum-style baseboards. I haven’t done a white glove test yet but it seems to get under the baseboards. We usually run it at night before we go to bed and it’s been such a delight to wake up to clean floors. You can also change the suction of the robot. I just cleaned it for the first time and I was dreading it. I was planning on just taking it apart and wait for my husband to just do it for me. I didn’t have to. It was very easy to clean and quick. Probably took me less than 10 minutes. I found a lot of sand in the station and in the robot. It comes with a little brush. I think a tooth brush would work better for cleaning. I used scissors to cut out hair and other stuff that got tangled up in the vacuum and mop brushes. The manual says to clean it more often but it worked for 28 hours before I cleaned it for the first time. It takes about 2 hours to get 1000sq ft done. At first, I added cleaning fluid to the water tank but I found that it doesn’t really need it. Another thing I have bragged about has been the self cleaning feature. It cleans and dries the mop brushes on it’s own. I love it so much, I’m thinking of getting it for my sister who has 4 small kids to help make her life easier. My husband says this is one of the best purchases I’ve ever bought—up there with the Instant pot and air fryer toaster oven.

*Review updated* Made my cleaning experience more time consuming, not less
Nov 2nd updated review:After posting how disappointed I was by it, and how I would have liked to exchange it in case I just got a faulty unit but was unable to, Deebot’s customer service reached out to me and sent a replacement unit which I’m relieved to say HAS performed the way I hoped the first unit would, and I have been using it daily without issue since the end of September now.One thing I did differently this time, just as a precaution, was to use water that has been through a softener to fill the clean water tank.My city has extremely hard water and it does cause a buildup on faucets and shower walls etc.No clue if this was a factor with the first unit malfunctioning the way it did, or just a coincidence, but the new one has remained trouble free, so I’ll stick with the softened water!I do still use a little handheld vac to get stray kitty litter from areas that are right next to the box, as it doesn’t vacuum very effectively right next to things, and although I have enabled ’strategic particle removal‘ it does still tend to fling larger debris, like dry pet food, instead of picking it up.But these are pretty minor annoyances overall, and nothing I haven’t encountered with any other automatic floor cleaner. So overall, a great product with outstanding customer service and support. I’m grateful I was able to give it another try and confirm that the first unit probably just had a faulty sensor or something along those lines.Original review: I wanted to love this, but it just didn’t perform.I have a one bedroom apartment, all wood floors, no rugs or carpets. It’s not a large or difficult area.I have two cats and was tired of having litter stuck to my feet, I was excited to spend less time sweeping and mopping to avoid this.I have long hair myself, so I’m pretty used to having to clear it off the rollers and wheels of vacuums of all kinds, so I wasn’t that surprised to find that the same was true of this vacuum.Every couple of days it would shut down and not say why. The app would just say it was ‚paused‘.So I would turn it over, clear off any long hairs I could see that were wrapped around the roller or on the side brushes and it would run again. Not a dealbreaker for me.However, the last few times it happened it was obvious that one of the wheels was malfunctioning. I would clear off the roller and side brushes and when I fired it back up again it would get stuck trying to rotate in one direction, and immediately ‚pause‘ again.I would go through every stage of the recommended cleaning & maintenance processes outlined in the manual, wipe any dust off the sensors and use a can of compressed air to blast any possible debris out from under or inside of the wheels. The first two times that worked. It was time consuming, annoying, and hardly the ‚hands off‘ cleaning experience advertised, but returning it seemed a hassle. (It’s extremely heavy, even without water in it and I live in a walk-up)Unfortunately the third time this happened I went through the entire cleaning and maintenance process as I did the other times and it did not resolve the obviously defective wheel situation.I had only a couple of weeks of trouble free use out of it, and while the floors felt very nice when it was functioning, this is far too soon for a product with this price tag to be developing issues that required so much maintenance. It’s faster and easier to sweep my apartment myself, as I was before. In addition to that, the fabric of the mop heads snags on anything and everything, I was cutting pulled threads off of them daily. It is also quite high profile for a robot vac with the little nub on top, so I had to put my couch and nightstand on furniture risers to get it to clean underneath them.In terms of suction, It did not always manage to clear my floor of the cat litter crystals. They are pretty small, so I was ok with the few that it missed, but it also had a problem picking up stray kibbles and usually just flung them across the room to another location instead.I actually wanted to exchange it, thinking perhaps I got a faulty unit, but there is no option to do that. Only return it and buy a new one, which I wont be doing since it is now $200 more expensive than when I purchased it.TL/DR Hefty price tag for an extremely finicky product that quickly developed non-resolvable problems. If you like babysitting machines that are supposed to decrease the burden of cleaning, this is the one for you though.

Really good robot, just need to know how to work within it’s parameters
I would have given this product 5 stars (and I may come back to revise my review.) b/c initially I thought it was just a matter of learning how to work with it’s capabilities. But ours ended up having a malfunction and we had to send it for repairs. We had great experience with customer service, but they informed us that it’s not repairable and they’re sending us a „factory renewed replacement.“ I’m always a little wary of these but I will reserve judgement until I know if it works properly. I will come back to edit this review once we’ve had it back for a while. For now, here’s a review of the initial product, which I actually think is pretty amazing! Buckle in!When we first got this product, we bought it b/c we got a dog, and wanted to switch from our old robot that only vacuumed. We figured we needed something that mopped too. This is actually a really great little vacuum. It runs via an app on your phone. It vacuums AND mops, via two separate attachments and you can adjust the level of vacuum suctioning and mopping so that you can get different levels of clean for your house. Since we have a dog, we obviously just went for the highest levels of each. You cannot go back and forth between these two interchangeably. You either have the vacuum attachment in, or the mop attachment in, and when you’re mopping, you need to make sure you’ve only told it to mop in a place that is uncarpeted. If you send it to a carpeted place, it WILL still try to mop. So that’s where the map comes in.MAP: When setting up your map, you can divide the floor by room and also make „no go“ areas. My suggestion with this is to divide it by carpeted and noncarpeted areas b/c of the mopping and vacuuming. I would also divide by room, or if you have an open floor plan, try to make smaller areas (more on that below). I also like that it has an option to manually draw an area on the map to clean. So if there’s a spill or something, you can just draw a box around that area on the map and clean only that area.VACUUM: The biggest (non)issue with the vacuum function is that it’s not a good idea to just send the vacuum to do the whole floor at one time. The vacuum cannot go auto-dump into the home station when it’s full and then keep doing its job. As I’ve said, this doesn’t need to be a deal breaker, you just need to know how to work around it. Know your house and how much dirt/debris there is, and give it a job that won’t fill up the robot. So maybe you need to just do two rooms at a time. You’ll know the robot is full if you notice the suction becoming less. If you were wanting to schedule cleanings, for the purposes of having a weekly schedule, you could still do that, even with the job broken up into smaller bits.MOPPING: There’s nothing really complicated to know about the mopping. We did end up buying supplemental mopping pads, which was helpful, so we didn’t have to wash them as often. The one thing we found was that the mop works MUCH better if you saturate the pad with water before starting the job. If you don’t, you’re starting off with a dry cloth and waiting for the robot to saturate the cloth with its own sprayer, which is less effective.OTHER NOTES: We only had one other issue with this robot. The vacuum doesn’t have a sensor or way to tell you that it’s clogged. So there was one point where it was trying to empty itself into the home bin, and was making all the noises and motions like it was, but the suction was suffering. Finally, I just turned the robot over and realized the whole inner cavity was full of debris. I was able to just manually unclog it and everything went back to normal. I just wish it had some kind of sensor that could have told me something was wrong. If this was the end of what I had to say, i think I’d give it 5 stars. These are small design flaws that can be worked around. Below, I’ll start documenting on the issues that made us send ours back for maintenance and I’ll add updates. Why I’m at 4 stars for now:After about 5 months of owning our robot, the map started showing up in the app as our regular map and than a second version of our map, blurry and superimposed in a different orientation over top of the first one. When I would send the robot on a job, it would get confused and go to the wrong room, and would not be able to find the home unit to come home. I tried restoring the map to a earlier version. I tried remaking the map, both per customer service instructions, but that did not work. The superimposed second map kept coming back. Customer service finally sent me a prepaid packing slip and asked me to mail both the robot and the home unit to them for repairs. They’ve now informed me it’s not repairable and they’ll be sending me a factory renewed replacement. I have to say that I’ve been really impressed with their responses. Each time I wrote to them, they responded within 24 hours and they’ve kept me informed at each step. If the new unit arrives and works the way it’s supposed to, I’d be willing to give this 5 stars again. I will update again.

Excellent but don’t buy just for TrueDetect
One month ownership update: Dropped a star because of bad navigation and half baked TrueDetect.More on Navigation/TrueDetect: It is simply not worth the extra cost over the N8 Plus. It will not work if the object is not directly in front of the sensor. For example, the N8 Pro was trying to navigate in between my couch and the coffee table in a space with a width of about 3 feet. About 8 inches from the couch my cat had thrown up, providing the perfect test for TrueDetect. Unfortunately, it never detected it and if I wasn’t monitoring it, it would have rolled right over it making an even bigger mess. I tried other more systematic tests near the couch using cat toys. Whenever the cat toy was directly in the front of the sensor (about 5 inches from the edge of the couch), the N8 plus would avoid it, however, it never worked if it was closer or further away from the couch during the N8 Pro’s approach. It had to be in that 5 inch sweet spot for the sensor to trigger and work as expected.Issues with navigation also persist. It seems to get confused often. For example, I noticed that it got sort of trapped between a potted plant and a cat scratching toy. There was just enough room for the bot to squeeze between the two where is spent 80 minutes spinning in a circle until the battery was low, at which point, oddly, it backed out and went right to the charging dock all by itself. After recharging for five hours, it came out, and finished the run without issue. So, clearly something is wrong with the navigation algorithm. Also, Ecovacs still has not fixed the recharge and resume issue. Since the N8 knows how much it has left to clean, it should only charge enough to complete that run, instead of spending 5 hours to fully charge. There have also been other times, where it has gotten confused. A couple of times, it kept vacuuming one of my area rugs until the battery was low. Another time, it just randomly got confused right in the middle of my kitchen and alerted me to help it get unstuck. I simply restarted it and it went back to behaving normally.**************************************************************************************************Summary: Overall, it’s great, it mapped the house in the first run and it has all the features one expects for the price. However, the battery life is abysmal, it had to go back and recharge twice before building the full map for my 2000 square foot home. Also, TrueDetect is half baked and not worth the extra $100 over the N8. I have a long hair cat that sheds her body weight per day and even with a full bin the auto empty works perfectly for me. Unlike others, I did not have issues with clogging. If I had to do it all again, I would have gotten the cheaper N8 Plus, which for $600 is an almost unbeatable value.Support: This is my second Deebot. My first one was the OZMO 930, which was the Ecovacs flagship three years ago (released 2018). It has been faithfully cleaning daily and only recently began falling apart. First, Ecovacs, suspiciously screwed up the app so that my OZMO always showed up as disconnected. I was able to install an older version of the APK to get around that. Then one of the wheels started to jam, then the brush motor broke (so suction only), then finally it ran into a suspicious wifi problem, where it would only connect after a hard reset for about fifteen minutes (perhaps a firmware issue). I was only able to fix the first problem. I am on this tangent to highlight that Ecovacs does not have the best support. Even if the app was accidentally made buggy, Ecovacs does not appear to have any drive to fix it for an older bot. Next, new parts for the OZMO 930 are nonexistent. Your best bet is to find used ones from auction sites. Companies like iRobot and Neato support their bots for life, with Ecovacs you’re on your own after warranty. iRobot will basically sell you every part to rebuild your S9 or i7+. The i7+ is still receiving updates and support even though it was released just a bit after my OZMO 930. I paid $600 for the OZMO when it came out and it is basically a brick now. I really hope they don’t continue that same trend with the N8 pro but you should factor bad support into your decision.AutoEmpty bin: Works great. I haven’t had any clogs yet and it seems to get 100% of the dust bin empty. I’m not sure if one bag will last me a month though. After the first two runs, it already looks more than half full. However, I think it is possible to just use a second vacuum to clean out and reuse the bag. I wish it had a reusable system instead of disposable bags.Navigation: It is quite good, however the TrueDetect sensor is just alright. It did avoid slippers and a small cup that I deliberately left on the floor, but it’s not perfect . Sometimes, for no reason, it will do a little backwards shuffle as if it is about to hit something. Other times, the TrueDetect does nothing. I have a chair with a metal ring base and the N8 Pro repeatedly tried to climb over it–it’s a little too persistent. It also failed to avoid cords at several occasions but it never got stuck. Overall, Lidar bots haven’t really progressed much. Navigation is about the same as my old Deebot OZMO 930. If anything the N8 pro takes a bit longer to do the same run, probably because of TrueDetect. TrueDetect really isn’t a game changer and not worth the extra $100. Hopefully, they can fix it with software updates to justify the premium. I mainly got it because sometimes my cat throws up and I thought this would help with that but after seeing it in action, I don’t trust it enough, which means I will continue to only run it when I’m home.Battery life: Horrific battery life. Even left on standard power it is barely able to complete the same 800 square foot run my OZMO could do with over 40% life to spare, even though both are advertised with about 100 minute runtime. As the N8 pro gets older and the battery degrades, I doubt it will be able to even do the 800 square foot run without recharging. Ecovacs still hasn’t fixed recharge and resume. If the bot runs out of battery, it will wait to fully recharge, which can take four or five hours. Instead, it needs to know how much cleaning it has left remaining and only charge enough to finish the run.App: It has all the features you’d expect, scheduling, multiple floor maps, no go zones, custom power/mop level per room, room split/merge, voice assistant, etc. It’s an average app with a lot of room for improvement. It is very slow to load and update. I wish there were options to adjust more features, such as TrueDetect sensitivity, route optimization (it will go around the edge of a room first before moving in a grid, which I would like to skip and go straight to a grid to speed up runs), side brush speed and aggressiveness when it gets stuck. They also really need to add widgets that will quickly show percent of run completed, let me start a run for pre-selected rooms, let me know maintenance status and such without launching the app. I also don’t think the N8 Pro can be integrated with smart automation like IFTTT or SmartThings. Ideally, I want the N8 pro to start a run when the house is empty rather than having a fixed schedule. But, even in 2021, I cannot do that.Suction: I have mostly hardwood floors so I never switched it off standard power but it did as expected. The auto boost also appears to work well on picking up most cat hair from carpets. On the same topic, the brush roll is about the same with hair tangles as my old OZMO. In three years, they’ve made zero progress on that front.Mopping: Useless. Nothing more to say.

Best Robot Vacuum I have tried
Before this, I had the Roomba’s newest vacuum but after warranty claim twice I opted out of fixing it and bought the X1. I love this darn thing. My two major complaints is that when the mopping pads are on it will not go over my rugs to vacuum and the cleaning sink is always full which pauses the cleaning until corrected. I have 3 dogs that we walk every morning on the beach so they get covered in sand… obviously my floor is also covered in sand and dog hair. I try to sweep every morning before it runs to help but it doesn’t always do much. The cleaning sink is really my biggest frustration…. the little cleaning brush they give you does not do much. I take my little carpet cleaning spot vacuum and vacuum out the cleaning sink completely. This is the best thing to do but it is still annoying to have to do. Other then that really I love this thing. I have it sweep & mop the whole house, every single day. It rarely gets caught on something and avoids cords quite well.

Update
I really enjoyed this machine….it didn’t required much to upkeep and it cleaned extremely well however it did give out after 5 months. I have to say I’m pleased with the service I received from the customer support. I returned this model for repair and after a couple weeks waiting I received not only a new machine but the newer model. I was expecting my machine or another rebuild machine if anything so getting a new machine was a great surprise. I’m hoping this one lasts longer. All in all I can say I was treated extremely well. The machine may have given up sooner than I had hoped but the company made things right with out going thru a bunch of crap….

WHY I LIKE IT’S POOR PERFORMANCE
I’d like to give you a perspective from an elderly person and tell you the cons and then the pros of this vacuum and mop device.I know what clean is and what it isn’t. I’m part of the era when mopping floors on hands and knees with a brush and bucket was still done. Cleaning behind the toilets and into every corner. This machine does not get into those tight places. When mopping, it’s not supposed to go over carpet but in my case, it would mop my area rugs. If your floor is uneven or has low spots, it tends to pass over with the mop pads never touching those areas. When in just vacuum mode, it won’t even come close to a deep clean on rugs. I only have low pile area rugs and I’d give it a 6 for performance. When cleaning hard surfaces, it performs respectably but did not like to pick up anything the size of small dog kibble. Now I’ll tell you why I’ll forever own one. It keeps my floors tidy and clean enough between my more thorough cleanings. I like it because I don’t have to struggle with heavy vacuums, messy mops or back breaking work until I want to. I rather enjoy watching it do the work for me. The new fangled technology is fun for me to learn. The app (which I’m still learning) gives you the option for multiple map settings/configurations. I can put a barrier on the map to keep it from going where I don’t want and many many other preference settings. I like how it talks to me and aids in reminding me to add water or if it needs my help. Hearing it empty it’s own dustbin and scrubbing it’s own mopping pads is a hoot. Quite honestly, having to do my own cleaning more thoroughly on occasion forces me to stay active and healthy and I won’t trade this machine for anything in the world. If someone would only invent a robot that dusted and made beds next then I’d be all set.

Great!
I’ve had this vacuum for a little over a month now. It’s pretty simple to set up and use. Does a decent job vacuuming my floors (all laminate/tile). Much quieter than my old Roomba! I was skeptical about the mopping at first because it didn’t seem to be laying down any water or only leaving a trail behind intermittently, but that seems to have cleared up after a couple weeks of regular use and now it does a great job. The dirty water is *disgusting* and smells terrible… so I’m glad that’s not on my floor any more!! We have multiple cats so it has to keep up with all their hair and litter boxes. I’ve definitely noticed a decrease in the amount of litter I find on my socks when walking barefoot and way fewer kitty hair tumbleweeds. It has more features than I really need/want (the camera stuff is cool but not necessary). I’m probably most impressed with its navigation capability. I’ve seen review videos where the robot will navigate around charging cables on the floor. Mine has sucked up a wand type cat toy with thick fabric instead of string, so I’m not sure how well it might do against cords in actuality. That said, Yiko navigates flawlessly around pretty much every obstacle that would cause my Roomba to get stuck, trapped, or jammed, with the exception of one threshold. I no longer worry about having to make sure my floor is spotless and there are no cat toys etc on the floor before I let the vacuum loose, which means I can let it run more frequently and, even better, when I’m not home to babysit it. The voice control is also very responsive most of the time even when the motor is running, and I like being able to divide my house into sections or to ask Yiko to clean around specific pieces of furniture (ie “Ok Yiko, clean around the litterboxes”). I do wish I could specify furniture pieces on the task scheduler, so that it would vacuum only around the litter boxes a couple times a day. Instead, I have to set it up to clean the whole room each box is in. The job still gets done, it just takes longer. In all, a good purchase!
